It is responsible for object detection, classification, and ranging under challenging circumstances. Camera and lidar sensors provide complementary information, and by combining these two modalities, we can increase the robustness and accuracy of the overall perception system. This paper presents the implementation of sensor fusion based perception using camera images and lidar point clouds for object detection and ranging in a real-time driving environment. The experiment results obtained with our test vehicle demonstrate that the perception of vehicle surroundings can be more effectively achieved by means of camera-lidar sensor fusion compared with using a single type of sensor.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127946836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most often, operators and analysts evaluate this system capacity adding the forward and return data rates, obtained by multiplying the number of satellites by the available bandwidth, the frequency reuse factor and a typical spectral efficiency for each link. After presenting this first level solution, the paper proposes a methodology to evaluate HTS system capacity in three steps: IP throughput from link budget analysis, capacity obtained at the satellite level, influence of system configurations (users, gateways, services).","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129261003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The distance-based positioning system has the advantage of high positioning accuracy depending on the sensor used. However, in environments where the use of infrastructure is restricted, such as security facilities or disaster environments, its utilization is limited, and Line of Sight (LOS) between devices must be guaranteed. To compensate for those limitations, we propose a framework for resetting the initial point of an object in DR. In order to reduce the position error that increases in proportion to the accumulated distance of DR, a method of resetting the starting point of DR to the position derived by distance-based trilateration was adopted. However, the process of resetting every moment when the trilateration-based position is derived can increase the system overhead and cause a positioning delay. Therefore, we derived the optimal starting point reset position and frequency by using Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). Through simulation, we verified that the proposed system improves the positioning accuracy compared to conventional DR through low resource consumption.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125337804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The oval shape of the patch was obtained theoretically by determining a triangle-to-oval formula. A modification on the radiating patch by involving an oval slot geometrically scaled down from its dimensions is proposed to enhance the radiation characteristics. Moreover, two pairs of arc slits are also embedded into the patch for the enhancement. The modification stage is carried out through simulations in which experimental characterizations are used to validate the final configuration. The characterization is performed in an anechoic chamber in the frequency range of 1–20 GHz. The characterization results show that the incorporation of oval-slot and arc-slits into the radiating patch produces a reflection coefficient (S11) of around 34.78% for S11 value between –10 dB to –20 dB. The proposed antenna configuration works at the frequency band of 1.38–20 GHz with two rejection bands of around the frequency ranges of 1.95–3.47 GHz and 9.08–9.55 GHz. The radiation patterns are measured at the frequencies of 5.66 GHz, 8.03 GHz, and 13.54 GHz to analyze the effect of improvement due to the modification. Furthermore, investigations on the distribution of surface current are also performed to determine the potency of modification offered for future developments.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126600354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve the communication quality of this NOMA-based system, we increase the number of backscatter devices (BDs) and maximize the sum rate by optimizing the reflection coefficient (RC) of BDs and the location of the UAV. As the sum rate problem is a non-convex problem, we propose an iterative algorithm to solve the problem by using the block coordinated descent (BCD) technique and quadratic transform algorithm. The RC problem is solved by monotonicity. Then, the location problem is solved by the quadratic transform algorithm. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves higher sum rate than the other schemes.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122324329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we consider the scenario of using powerful polar codes in the presence of Middleton Class-A Noise (MCAN). Two preprocessing methods, including blanking and clipping, are investigated before the use of successive cancellation list (SCL) decoding. With a Markov chain modeling for MCAN, the blanking is demonstrated to be an effective method for discriminating the state of MCAN and it simply erases the channel when the corrupted state due to the presence of impulsive noise is detected. The use of blanking, along with the log-likelihood ratio computation, could achieve significant gain for SCL decoding of polar codes over PLC channels, which is validated by extensive experiments.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126758419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increasing the number of capacitors to enhance the phase shift range is usually accompanied by an increase in the transmission line section, resulting in a large circuit size. This paper presents an implementation of a mirror configuration on a capacitor-loaded microstrip line to enhance the phase shift range. The loading capacitors are located on both sides of the transmission line section, instead of being located on one side. The experimental results show that when capacitances are varied from 0.2 pF to 0.8 pF, the proposed configuration could produce a wide phase shift range of 139.48o and a compact circuit size of 46.4 mm × 22.5 mm. The capacitively-loaded transmission line implemented using a mirror configuration increases the phase shift range by 55% and reduces the circuit size by 22% compared to the common configuration.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":" 17","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114101718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
