In addition, through the values indicated for the utilization coefficients, the designers are oriented towards relatively large distances between electrodes and no optimal criteria are defined. In earlier works, the authors have realized nomograms in order to calculate the earth resistances for both simple and multiple EGR with more electrodes and have proposed a number of five overall characteristic sizes for the EGR that may constitute optimal criteria. Continuing the development of the dimensioning methods with the application of optimal criteria, the algorithms for the application of two of the optimal criteria, namely the EGR footprint area and the EGR total volume, are formulated and exemplified in the paper. The minimum of the ground footprint area is obtained for the biggest lengths of the electrodes and the minimum distances between them, that are practicable in the given soil and with the technology available to the potential manufacturer. The tests were performed using a non-standardized method in a dual transversal electromagnetic cell (DTEM). The materials' shielding characteristics must be properly evaluated in order to choose an appropriate shielding material. The tests were conducted for three different types of material designated for electromagnetic shielding. The tests were conducted with a non-standardized method which uses a simple and economical setup, with only two components: a DTEM cell and an EMI Test Receiver. The used Standards are presented and discussed. The measurements were carried out in a Semi-Anechoic Chamber (SAC) in accordance with EN 55022 (CISPR 22) Standard. The test arrangement was in accordance with IEC 61000-4-3 Standard and the following equipment was included: reception antenna, signal generator and emission antenna. The measurements were made at a distance of 3 meters, according to the generic Standard IEC 61000-6-3. The radiated electromagnetic interference (EMI) was assessed in the frequency domain, for the frequency range of 30 MHz–1 GHz, in compliance with CISPR 22 Standard. The test was performed to verify if the equipment under test (EUT) is operating according to the radiated emission limits imposed by the product Standard of the class in which the equipment is framed. The method proposed here is based on diagnosis diagrams designed by the authors. The diagrams cover all failure types that can occur for these types of installations. The diagrams were, then, used to create a diagnosis software package, which can rapidly and securely determine the failure cause. The computer assisted diagnosis reduces train traffic delays and fewer train traffic redirects are needed, diagnosis errors are practically eliminated. At both global and European levels, particular attention is paid to the use of renewable energy sources, encouraging, through various projects, the progressive change from the use of fossil fuels to the use of renewable technologies. In this paper, the hybrid power generation system that supplies a residential district using solar panels, wind turbines, generating set, storage system and a converter is analyzed. Dobriceanu","doi":"10.1109/SIELMEN.2017.8123376","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SIELMEN.2017.8123376","url":null,"abstract":"This paper presents an active DC-traction substation with six-pulse uncontrolled rectifier, whose structure and control ensure the braking energy recovery and increased power quality in both traction and regeneration regimes. The key component in the power structure is a voltage source inverter-based shunt active power filter connected properly between the DC-traction line and the power supply. To meet the goal of unity power factor at the power supply side, the current provided by the inverter is indirectly controlled through the supply current. In the generation of the reference current, the adopted algorithm involves the intermediate transformation of the currents' three-phase system into a rotating phasor synchronous with the voltage space phasor. A dedicated Matlab-Simulink has been conceived for the whole system. The results of the simulation show that, during the traction regime, the shunt active power filter succeeds in injecting the proper required currents in the point of common coupling, so that almost sinusoidal currents are drawn from the power supply under unity power factor. Especially single phase motors are used in city centers because of structure of the single phase feeder system. In general, small powered single phase motors in the range of 0.18–1.5 kW are used in small workplaces, portable hand looms, homes, fans, kitchen equipment, vacuum cleaner, drills and etc. In this paper, characteristic performance features of the single phase electrical machines that named universal motors, single phase induction motors (IM), shaded pole motors and 24 V permanent magnet direct current (PMDC) motors are studied. These motors are grouped in special electrical machines. Operational principles of the motors, areas of the usages and performance characteristics are given comparatively. Tests are conducted for motors. Current, voltage, revolution per minute, powers are given in graphs. ANSYS Maxwell programme is used for computer aided design of transient motor performances. Electrical characteristics of the motors are simulated with programme. Dynamical transient analysis of the motors are conducted respectively. Because the laboratory platform has an educational role, it was presented some practical aspects of active filters measurement and also the differences between the measured values and those measured with the Spice program.
