In general, due to the limited availability of historical inflow data, synthetic streamflow time series have been widely used for several applications such as mid- and long-term hydropower scheduling and the identification of hydrological processes. This paper explores the use of fuzzy inference systems for the identification of two hydrological processes, and its use in the generation of synthetic monthly inflow sequences. Experiments using Brazilian monthly records show that fuzzy systems provide a promising approach for synthetic streamflow time series generation.","PeriodicalId":403191,"journal":{"name":"EUSFLAT Conf.","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128742183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The characteristics of health and environment are usually measured with different and disconnected indicators. However, the importance of working with those two aspects in a joined way is every time larger. In this paper it is presented a fuzzy rule-based system to aggregate measures of population health and environment in order to produce an integrate index. This fuzzy index was applied to all states of Brazil and the results were in agreement with the expected.","PeriodicalId":403191,"journal":{"name":"EUSFLAT Conf.","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128482991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Overall accuracy, Kappa index, Kappa location, Kappa histo and user accuracy are some well-known examples. In this work, we will extend and analyze some of these measures in a fuzzy framework to be able to measure the goodness of a given classifier in a supervised fuzzy classification system with fuzzy reference data. In addition with this, the measures here defined also take into account the preferences of the decision maker in order to differentiate some errors that must not be considered equal in the classification process.","PeriodicalId":403191,"journal":{"name":"EUSFLAT Conf.","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116970616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We generalize a smoothing filter based on the fuzzy transform proposed in [2] to obtain a better control on the smoothed functions. For this purpose, a generalization of the concept of fuzzy partition is suggested and the smoothing filter is defined as a combination of the direct discrete F-transform and a slightly modified inverse continuous F-transform. Statistical properties including the description of the white noise reduction and the asymptotic expression of Bias and Var are investigated and discussed.","PeriodicalId":403191,"journal":{"name":"EUSFLAT Conf.","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114924065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Computational Theory of Perceptions (CTP) is an extension of this theory that has not yet reached the same level of applicability. We believe that a review of the fundamentals of CTP from a epistemological perspective would provide useful insights to contribute to energize its development. This is a very preliminary paper where we make some reflections on epistemological aspects of CTP. We have used three representative Zadeh’s papers to extract a set of relevant sentences describing CTP. Then, we analyzed this corpus of information from various epistemological points of view to obtain some provisional conclusions.","PeriodicalId":403191,"journal":{"name":"EUSFLAT Conf.","volume":"268 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126612755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
