It is important, assessment of any adverse effects of radiation upon the embryo. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of embryos irradiated with 1Gy doses in vitro and investigate hematopoiesis in the yolk sac of the irradiated embryos. Materials and methods: In the study, the experimental group of rats was be exposed to total body ionizing radiation on days 8.5th of gestation. All embryos in the control and radiation group cultured from gestation day 9.5 to 11.5 were alive at the end of the culture period. After 48 hours culture period, the embryos from each group were harvested and analyzed morphologically. Histological evaluation of the vWF+ cell number was performed in vivo. Results: The results showed that the embryonic growth and development during organogenesis decreased in the radiation exposed embryos when compared to control embryos. Additionally, the immunofluorescent examination showed that the vWF+ cell number reduced in the yolk sac of embryos exposed to ionizing radiation. Conclusion: Consequently, these findings support the conclusion that 1 Gy ionizing irradiation may increase prenatal death, intrauterine growth restriction on embryonic development when ionizing irradiation decreases the vWF+ cell number in the yolk sac compared to control embryos. This research related to radiation was the first study using the in vitro embryo culture technique; thus, future studies that will be performed by using different doses of radiation will contribute to the literature.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"350 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120958479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Significant changes may occur in miRNA expression levels as a result of genetic variations defined in miRNA genes. Therefore, it is thought that genetic variations in miRNA genes may be biomarkers that can play an important role in cancer formation, prognosis and progression. MiRNA function disorder due to miRNA-mediated dysregulation in target genes that may occur as a result of miRNA gene variations in the diagnosis and progression of various types of cancer should be evaluated. In addition, determining miRNAs and miRNA gene variations in target genes that affect drug behavior in increasing the effectiveness of drugs is very important in terms of developing new treatment methods and different therapeutic strategies for various cancer types. In this review, it is aimed to examine the potential roles of miRNAs and miRNA gene variations in cancer development, progression and treatment.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115003342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the relationship between the severity of coronary artery disease(CAD) and arterial stiffness is still unclear. In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between augmentation index which is a marker of arterial stiffness with CAD and its prevalence. Methods: A total of 80 patients (22 women, mean age 59±8) who were scheduled for coronary angiography with a preliminary diagnosis of coronary artery disease by evaluating their symptoms and findings and coronary risk profiles were included. The other group have 20 healthy patients without any chronic disease history. The augmentation index (AIX), which is an indicator of arterial stiffness, was measured in all cases with the BP+ Central Blood Pressure CardioScope II device in all groups. Gensini score of the patient group was calculated. Results: It was found to be 131% (79-198mmHg) in the AIX patient group and 72.5% (69-96mmHg) in the control group (p<0.001). A positive correlation was observed between AIX and Gensini score, LDL-cholesterol, body mass index and HbA1c in the patient group. In the ROC analysis, the area under the curve (AUC) for AIX was calculated as 0.701 (P<0.001). While AIX was 121% above normal, it predicted coronary artery disease with 94.8% sensitivity and 80.9% specificity. Conclusion: In our study, a relationship was found between coronary artery disease with its severity and arterial stiffness. Augmentation index can be used effectively with low cost in predicting coronary artery disease.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126230579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: In this cross-sectional and descriptive study, data was collected on general information about adult individuals, their status of using complementary and alternative medicine methods (CAMM), healthy eating habits, and their adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MEDAS) using an online questionnaire. The participants were asked if they knew about complementary and alternative medicine CAMM and two groups were formed based on their responses. The mean MEDAS score of those who stated that they were informed about CAMM (6.9±2.0) was higher than those who reported that they were not (6.5±1.8) (p<0.05). It was found out that 187 individuals who stated that they were informed about CAMM (46.6%) consumed three main meals, and 202 individuals who stated that they were not informed (61.6%) consumed two main meals (p<0.05). Among those who stated that they were informed about CAMM, 49.8% used herbal products, while 62.3% reported that they were not informed used herbal products (p> 0.05). It was observed that the majority of the two groups who stated they were and were not informed about CAMM used herbal products included in CAMM. Therefore, the results of the study emphasize the significance of consulting health experts before using CAMM and preventing their irrational use in order to curb health problems that might arise as a result of irrational use of CAMM.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"272 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133035568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most important problems in combating the disease was the loss of time in early diagnosis of infections and the ineffectiveness of the quarantine screen due to the incubation period of the disease, which can last up to fourteen days. This process poses a high risk to healthcare professionals and especially nurses, who are the first to come into contact with infected people. Currently, there is no definitive treatment for Covid-19. The only proven form of management is isolation and supportive care. Therefore, nurses, who are involved in every level of patient care, have an important role in combating this epidemic. Being a new emerging disease condition for the whole world, there has been created a huge gap regarding how the nursing care of patients with Covid-19 in hospitals will be. The aim of this article is to implement nursing interventions according to Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Model of a patient diagnosed with Covid-19, to highlight the important points that should be taken into consideration during their care, and to guide the nurses working in the field. Data were collected by face-to-face interviewing with the patient, and care was planned, applied and evaluated according to the model. The model of Functional Health Patterns can be used as an easy and convenient model for determining health care requirements and implementing nursing interventions for patient with a positive diagnosis of Covid-19.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"337 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115976550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
