B. The theoretical model for this study was based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The study employed a cross-sectional survey and quantitative data was collected from a total of six-hundred and five usable responses obtained from the sampled respondents using a pre-tested questionnaire. Statistical analyses were carried out using the t-test analysis (using Levene’s Test for Equality of Variances) and the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique. Key findings were that although partial relationships were established, the mediating roles of the demographics of library workers and patrons on factors influencing the intention to use and actual use of social media in the university libraries were significant. Establishing the effect of the user demographics on factors influencing social media use in the context of the UTAUT is novel within the Ghanaian university library setting and thus contributes new knowledge to methodological discussions to improve practices and policies on social media adoption and use. However, since this study was largely quantitative, future research could include both quantitative and qualitative research approaches to explore any other important constructs that fit into the context and can explain adoption in further detail. Recommendations based on findings are provided in the article.","PeriodicalId":39383,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship","volume":"33 1","pages":"170 - 194"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42845766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A survey of academic librarians and staff received 240 responses and included 5-point Likert scale ratings on communication surrounding acquisitions, access, administration, support, evaluation, and renewal at their institutions. The study found that the acquisitions, evaluation, and renewal stages of the lifecycle experienced the most issues in communication, while support had the most positive responses. By simulating a search process in two major databases, the authors were able to contextualize the numbers in their institution’s COUNTER 5 Database Master Reports. The study finds that even though the Release 5 metrics – searches, investigations, and requests – are clearly defined by the COUNTER standard, the vendor platform design has a direct impact on how the usage is actually counted, thus shaping the outcome of a database usage report.","PeriodicalId":39383,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship","volume":"33 1","pages":"92 - 104"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/1941126X.2021.1911450","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49034275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, for Classic Cinema, Kanopy offers some access to the incomparable Criterion Collection, with access to many European, Latin America, and Asian films by filmmakers such as Godard, Truffaut, Kurosawa, and Bergman. SWANK explains: “Swank Digital Campus provides colleges and universities with the largest academic streaming collection of its kind. With over 25,000 films, documentaries and TV shows, SWANK Digital Campus simplifies film distribution by providing faculty and students a legal streaming resource both on and off campus” (Digital campus: Swank motion pictures). As with most streaming platforms, SWANK is expensive, but offers discounted “blocks of films” at reasonable pricing. All the platforms allow streaming with URLs, the capability to create playlists, and to set up clips, and are easily adaptable to be embedded into most Learning Management Systems (LMS). Many offer curated programming as an option. AVON offers streaming web server applications. The budgetary strain on most institutions, including CUNY, has put a strain on the amount and quality of streaming and e-resources we can purchase. We have had to refuse renewal for a few products, and it has made us very thrifty when purchasing new resources. Hopefully, this paradigm will change as we work for a better educational tomorrow for our students and faculty. Now more than ever, e-resources and media, including primarily streaming films, are taking a leading role in higher education. This influence should be built upon and reinforced. It becomes the job of the e-resources librarians in major institutions to advocate for the renewal and investment in these valuable, didactic streaming tools.","PeriodicalId":39383,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship","volume":"33 1","pages":"120 - 126"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/1941126X.2021.1912544","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42779207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
