It has grown into a platform with a broad range of content, including sports, fashion, performing arts, and education, encouraging learners to join the community. This descriptive-correlational aimed to determine the relationship between TikTok Utilization and the Level of Engagement of BPeA students of the City College of Angeles. After gathering data from 103 respondents through an online survey, the findings revealed that the BPeA students undergoing online classes use the TikTok application moderately and responsibly. Also, the level of students’ engagement during online classes was found to be very high. Furthermore, a significant positive relationship was observed between TikTok utilization and students’ engagement. Based on the findings, the researchers recommend that the Institute of Education, Arts, and Sciences (IEAS), in partnership with the College Guidance Office (CGO), collaborate on providing webinars or training on how SNS such as TikTok can be a helpful tool or distraction at the level of engagement of the students. Additionally, instructors/professors may also use the TikTok application as an educational tool to provide a better and more engaging classroom environment. Moreover, conducting the same study with the addition of other degree programs offered by the college to determine if the results may support or refute the findings is highly recommended. Lastly, other variables may be added to this present study to understand further the relationship between TikTok consumption and students’ engagement.","PeriodicalId":393771,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation","volume":"os-54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127719413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used a Qualitative Descriptive research design, with in-depth interviews conducted with ten (10) teacher-participants to generate qualitative data. Given the challenges and consequences of the digital divide on emergent readers, most pupils lag in their reading skill development. Teachers find it is hard to establish communication during distance learning without digital learning tools and an internet connection. Young pupils were unable to enhance their skills through distance learning without the involvement of parents and the usage of technology. The study's findings revealed four (4) themes: (1) exploring the background of the emergent readers, (2) calculating the learning process, (3) facing challenges and impacts, and (4) directing the digital divide as they form the central idea on how digital divide affects the lives of the emergent readers in the last mile schools amidst the pandemic. The researcher proposed a reading program using the rechargeable portable audio speaker as a strategy for the reading development skills of the emergent readers.","PeriodicalId":393771,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation","volume":"2 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120999753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
