The gender, the age, the trust in doctor, the number of suffered diseases and the number of CAM techniques were determined as the variables in the study. The participants of the research were 315 students from the education faculty of an university in Czech Republic. A measuring device that the researchers developed by using two scales were used as the data collection device. According to the findings of the research, CAM perceptions were generally positive, that besides woman participants’s perceptions were more positive comparing with man, and that perceptions of CAM grew in positive direction with the decrease in the trust in doctors. It was concluded that perceptions towards CAM grew in positive directions with the increase in the number of CAM and the number of suffered disease had no influence on perceptions of CAM.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":"10 1","pages":"125 - 131"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/09735070.2016.11905480","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"59504326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The indoor amount of CO2 is over 1000 ppm, which in turn, could directly affect the performances of the candidates directly via headache, dizziness, fatigue, and a loss of concentration. In this study, changes in the indoor amount of CO2 in some central exam were examined, and certain evaluations were made. The findings of the present study indicate that the threshold value is usually exceeded within 10 minutes, following the start of exams, and when indoor CO2 amounts are higher than 1500 ppm, which is considered in most exams as the limit of harm to health, and circulating air in the hallways and keeping the doors of exam halls open throughout the exam period are not adequate for keeping the indoor CO2 amounts below 1000 ppm. Air circulation is a must in exam halls to ensure healthy exam environments.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":"10 1","pages":"146 - 155"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/09735070.2016.11905483","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"59504560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Blood samples were collected from boxers before and after a 3-round of boxing match. Cytokines were assessed by high sensitive ELISA. Acute traumatic exercise increased serum levels of IL-6, TNFa, and IL-10 whereas no significant change was observed for serum levels of IFN-g, IL-4, and IL-17A. To the best of the researcher’s knowledge, this is the first report to investigate Th1/Th2/Th17 balance in heavily trained boxers. These findings suggested that strenuous exercise did not affect IL-17 secretion during exercise. In conclusion, alterations in serum cytokine composition of elite boxers could be important to have a properly working immune system against to infectious agents.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":"10 1","pages":"1 - 5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/09735070.2016.11905464","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"59660573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study population consisted of 219 nurses (66.5%) who worked in a state hospital located in eastern Turkey. The data was collected with a data collection questionnaire prepared by the researchers. In the evaluation of the data, number and percentage distributions, and chi-square test were used. In the paper, it was observed that 74.4 percent of nurses were exposed to verbal violence from the relatives of patients (68.0%). Nurses considered the “inadequate security measures” as the major (55.7%) cause of violence. The majority (67.6%) of nurses exposed to violence have continued to provide care to the patient, and experienced anger (60.7%). There was a relationship between the level of education of the nurses and exposure to verbal violence of the abusers (doctor, nurses), and the nurses working in shifts and in the surgical clinics were exposed to violence mostly by the patients’ relatives (p<0.05). Considering the frequent incidence of violence and its physical and psychological harm to health workers, the importance of taking institutional measures for the safety of health workers becomes prominent.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":"9 1","pages":"297 - 304"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/09735070.2015.11905447","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"59660482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A survey research design was followed, utilizing a questionnaire as the main data collection instrument. Altogether, 56 medicinal plant sellers participated in the study. The results showed that the medicinal plant selling business was dominated by middle-aged to elderly women about forty percent of whom had no basic schooling. All the respondents had dependents to support, and depended on this trade to support their families. The low education levels of the majority of the respondents are worrisome and pointed to a need for capacity building, particularly with regard to responsible harvesting, wastage and business skills. Further, most respondents lacked alternative opportunities for a livelihood due to a lack of training for anything else. Thus, they almost exclusively depended on the sale of medicinal plant products.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":"54 1","pages":"327 - 336"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/09735070.2015.11905450","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"59660614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
