A scientific platform has long been established to discover the wealth of remedies for various ailments, taking into account the pharmacological actions of different ingredients through corresponding endeavors by qualified and specialized individuals in each community. The residents of the community professionally administer care utilizing plant, animal, and mineral materials in accordance with widely accepted sociocultural knowledge and attitudes towards the tri-polar concept of Body, Mind and Soul in relation to health. The traditional healers were well expertise to diagnose the conditions of their patients, administer medications, and heal their ailments. This study centers on the functions that traditional healers play in a tiny frontier tribal group, taking into account their local affiliation and the ways in which the respective population adapts through conventional healing.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138995414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The prevalence of Haemoglobinopathies differs based on geographical regions and is higher in tropical countries. Literature has identified that Haemoglobinopathies are higher in tribal and ethnic groups compared to the general population in India. This narrative review explores the methods to analyse data related to Haemoglobinopathies, identifies the research gaps and gains insights on model building and prediction of Haemoglobinopathies. This narrative review includes articles focusing on Haemoglobinopathies, Anaemia and other related disorders, published from 2008 onwards. Full-text and accessible articles found in relevant databases were included. Statistical and a few other techniques like Logistic Regression, Bayesian Modelling, Genetic Risk Scoring, Structural Equation Modelling, Multilevel Tests, Longitudinal Models, Machine Learning Algorithms and Genotyping methods were used to know the risk of acquiring Haemoglobinopathies and to identify important genetic variants. From the findings, it was observed that many studies were conducted to identify the prevalence of Haemoglobinopathies among the general population, but only few in the tribal population. Models based on machine learning algorithms were used for prediction involving haematological parameters and genetic variants, whereas the statistical techniques for prediction include demographic, nutritional, economic, cultural and social indicators.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138985799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The primary objective of this research was to aggregate, analyse, synthesise, and summarise knowledge related to Dhâtu Chao Ruean. The study employed a qualitative research design, incorporating data collection in three methodological stages, that is, a literature review, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The research findings revealed consistency in the qualitative results across all three methods, specifically pertaining to Dhâtu Chao Ruean. The conclusions suggested that Dhâtu Chao Ruean is subdivided into seven components, which can be further categorised into two groups based on determining factors and duration, namely, Innate Dhâtu Chao Ruean (Dhâtu Chao Ruean Kerd) and Current Dhâtu Chao Ruean (Dhâtu Chao Ruean Patjuban). This study provides foundational knowledge that can potentially spearhead the development of a standard diagnostic framework for Dhâtu Chao Ruean.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135976149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aimed to investigate the effects of different drying methods on dracorhodin content, cytotoxicity and antioxidant activities of the resin. Hot-air and hot-steam-air drying at 55°C and 60°C were employed in this study. Resin dried with the hot-steam-air drying at 55° was most toxic to Artemia salina (LC50 of 430.61 ppm). Resin dried with hot-steam-air drying at 60°C contained the highest dracorhodin content (4.34%) and was the best at scavenging DPPH• (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) (IC50 of 32.73 ppm), cupric ion (TEAC of 63.15 ppm) and ferric ion (TEAC of 8.73 ppm). Resin from the hot-air-drying at 55°C was the best at scavenging ABTS•+ (2,2’-azino-bis (3- ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)) (TEAC of 469.72 ppm). Drying method and temperature affected the dracorhodin content and IC50 of the resin, respectively.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135112761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their daily livelihood is dependent upon a number of natural resources. In this regard, the traditional healthcare practice of the concerned people deserves special attention. The present study has been done on the Karbi tribal group of Karbi Anglong, Assam. The Karbi people had a strong belief on different supernatural powers and its impact on their health. Meanwhile, particularly in the cases of reproductive mother-child health, a number of faunal resources are also used by them. Thus a number of locally available plant and animal resources bear a special resemblance in the context of their traditional medical practices. It has the prime objective to reveal the relationship between traditional cultural practices, environmental resources and indigenous knowledge of the healthcare system among the Karbi people.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43402474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

V. faba is a natural source of the precursor of dopamine (Levodopa) which is used treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The objective of the study is to investigate the in vitro antioxidant capacity, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and docking of V. faba against Parkinson’s disease. The values indicated that acetone and aqueous extract exhibited a higher value of total phenolic and flavonoid contents respectively. The results of the 2, 2- diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging assay and ferric reducing antioxidant power assay displayed that aqueous extract had better radical scavenging activity. In the 2,2-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate) radical scavenging assay, ethanolic extract showed a lower Inhibitory Concentration50 value. In silico analysis indicated that the phyto-compounds present in V. faba has a higher binding affinity to the dopamine1 receptor. The results suggested that V. faba has good antioxidant properties and can be used as a dopamine agonist for the dopamine1 receptor which may be useful in combating Parkinson’s disease.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42887281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, many families encountered financial difficulties, health issues, and a lack of social and physical activities, all of which negatively impacted adolescents’ mental and emotional health. This study attempts to comprehend better the psychological problems between adolescents and their parents in Vietnam, during the COVID-19 outbreak. Between June and July 2021, 239 adolescents were evaluated using the Issues Checklist Scale for a sociological survey. The findings indicate that the social separation policy causes conflict between adolescents and their parents. Home responsibilities and privileges, social life, and friendships are the points of contention between adolescents and their parents. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when the social distance policy was implemented, 13- and 14-year-olds were more prone to dispute with their parents than 11- and 12-year-olds.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44517151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Vineland II test was chosen to evaluate the results of the sixmonth study program. The child’s handicap patterns determine specific Dohsa-hou exercises. The results of the experiments show a statistically significant change in the condition. Based on the previous data, the researchers concluded that Dohsa-hou therapy influences adaptive behavior in children with ASD. The study found that ratings for general adaptive behavior and most sub-domains improved from 1 to 5 points, indicating an overall improvement. Language and communication (receiving) sub-domains and everyday life skills have seen the most substantial gains in recent years.","PeriodicalId":39279,"journal":{"name":"Studies on Ethno-Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42687829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
