La notion de structure de base est introduite dans cet article comme la strategie pour former ce type de compose. La structure de base implique que la formation NVn concerne plus les notions de sujet/topic. Ne connaissant pas l'alternance dative comme en anglais, les structures syntaxiques de ces verbes en japonais sont liees irremediablement aux significations lexicales. Pour observer le premier phenomene, il est necessaire de controler precisement le duree du contour de la hauteur, tandis que le second necessite de construire un espace de stimulus unifie entre les differentes conditions de voisement. Pour observer la structure tonale du japonais de Tokyo, l'A. choisit d'adopter le modele etabli par Pierrehumbert et Beckman, base sur la phonologie autosegmentale/metrique.
