Esophagogastroduodenoscopy is recommended during the first 24 hours for severity and extent evaluation, but it seems insufficient to guide further managements in severe caustic injury patients due to rapid progression and variable clinical conditions. Therefore, we tried to evaluate the safety and role of second-look endoscopy in these patients in 1-2 weeks later. \u0000We retrospectively collected severe esophageal caustic injury (grade 2b, 3a, 3b) adults with and without secondlook endoscopy in subacute stage (6th-14th days after caustic injury) in Linkou Change Gung Memorial Hospital during 2011/1-2014/11. They were divided in to once endoscopy group and second-look endoscopic group according to the patients with second-look endoscopy or not. They were further matched with the same cause of caustic injury, corrosive properties, injury grading, and then selected with Excel RAND function. There were 26 patients in both groups. \u0000The average timing of second-look endoscopy was 10.23 ± 3.166 (mean ± SD) days after caustic ingestion. The hospital stay was significantly shorter in the second-look endoscopy group (24.92 ± 17.50 days, 54.38 ± 43.73 days, P=0.002). However, the complication rate was not statistically significant between these two groups. \u0000In conclusion, second-look endoscopy is safe and might shorten the hospital stay. However, prospective, randomized and larger sample size studies are needed to support the finding.

Automatic \u0000 interpretation softwares have been produced to reduce this, in this study, we assessed the reliability of two 24 hour \u0000 MII-pH analysis softwares compared to the interpretation provided by an expert. \u0000Methods: We performed a retrospective review of 200 MII-pH studies done on patients with reflux symptoms \u0000 between September 2009 and September 2014. The studies were split into two groups of 100 patients: one group’s \u0000 testing was performed using MMS equipment and software, and the other group used Sandhill Scientific equipment \u0000 and software. All tracings were additionally analyzed by an expert and the interpretations were compared. \u0000Results: Our data indicated a strong correlation between the expert’s analysis and both automatic softwares in \u0000 all positions, Demeester score, reflux episodes and symptoms index (p<0.0001). We aimed to assess the benefit of addition of cetuximab to standard chemotherapy in patients with resectable colorectal liver metastases. \u0000Methods: In this research, 11 patients with colorectal cancer and potentially curative liver metastases, who underwent metastasectomy from different Lebanese hospitals were analyzed. Patients received 5-FU, irinotecan, oxaliplatin with either cetuximab or bevacizumab pre and post operation. Response rate was compared between patients retrospectively, whether complete, partial, stable, or no response. \u0000Results: Out of 11 patients, 5 patients had progression free survival for 3 months after surgery, out of which 1 (9%) had a complete response, 2 had partial response, and 2 had a stable disease. No increase in the major side effects or mortality was noted. \u0000Discussion: Our results agree with other studies from different geographic regions. The purpose of this work is to show, through an observation, the interest \u0000of the injection of the corticoids during the endoscopic treatment of refractory oesophageal stenosis. It was a patient who benefited from an esophagectomy of 2/3 inferior+oeso-gastric anastomosis after ingestion of hydrochloric acid (spirit of salt). \u0000The evolution was marked by the installation of a post-anastomotic stenosis recurring after several sessions of endoscopic dilations. The local injection of the corticosteroids (Triamcinolone) at the time of the dilation sessions, allowed a decrease in the frequency of the dilatations, a disappearance of the dysphagia, an improvement of the general state with a weight gain. The injection of corticosteroids was a good solution for this patient, to avoid endoscopic treatment failures, and to improve her quality of life.

The patients (n=226) were enrolled following same protocol in both the hospitals. All subjects completed a validated questionnaire and underwent upper GI endoscopy. The histo-pathological diagnosis of H. pylori infection in biopsy specimen was done using the modified Giemsa stain. H. Statistical analysis was performed using the statistical program SPSS version 22. \u0000Results: The overall prevalence was 38.9% with no difference between sexes. There was no association with age, residential region, alcohol and caffeine use and smoking. Low level of education and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) use were the only significant factors. Bloating, nausea and early satiety were significant predictors of H. pylori infection. The most commonly identified endoscopic finding was gastritis (78.3%), only duodenitis and oesophagitis were significantly associated with H. pylori. Prevalence of H. pylori was 38.8% and 39%, respectively, in patients with diabetes and having no diabetes. \u0000Conclusion: H. Pylori prevalence was found to be high.
