This paper analyses a logical literature of SE with cooperative learning (CL) and technology integration (TI). The outcomes reveal the impact of instructional methodology such as active learning through cohort instructions to generate conceptual understanding and SE, critical thinking, and student-centred activities, blended and flipped learning, Google Docs (a free Web-based tool that allows you to create, edit, and store documents online), and massive open online course (MOOC) to improve student homework. The systematic review of the literature establishes outcomes from current research conducted between January 2013 and June 2022. Out of 114 papers, thirty publications fulfilled the refining and exclusion/inclusion guidelines after standard evaluation screening of the journals and review, along with the additional elimination of repetitive records from the study. The goal of the evaluation is to analyse the effectiveness of all the papers utilised in the research. The literature review possibilities are illustrated by the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) framework. The limitations and discussion from this systematic literature review (SLR) address some gaps, future directions for SE, and implications for education and research.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82087496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This qualitative action research study explored the possibility of using science content songs to enhance learners’ engagement, motivation and interest in ionic bonding and related chemistry concepts among high school learners in Kenya. The study aimed at transforming learner attitudes in chemistry through songs as pedagogies and making them active participants during chemistry lessons. Two chemistry teachers and 65 form two students were purposively chosen to participate in the study. Out of the 65 students, 8 were selected through a random sampling method to participate in a focus group discussion. Data collection was conducted through multiple methods which included; lesson observation, interview, and focus group discussion. It was found that songs engaged learners throughout the lesson, captured their attention, enhanced their recalling abilities, and had the potential to restore their positive attitudes towards chemistry. Additionally, findings revealed that songs enhanced diverse learner preferences and extended learning outside the classroom. The study recommends that schools should consider the use of songs as a classroom instructional strategy due to its high potential to engage learners and spark learners’ interest in chemistry learning.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"140 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78899942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study sought to investigate the impact of computer-assisted instruction on learners' achievement of biology with a focus on cell division topics. The study adopted a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study was all upper secondary students that have Biology in their learning subjects within the Nyagatare district. To get a sample, researchers purposively selected three schools on the condition that they are equipped with smart classrooms having connected computers. The researchers took one class at each school. Thus, we got a total of ninety (90) senior five learners. The researchers split these learners into two groups composed of 45 learners in the experimental group, and 45 students in the control group. Learners in the experimental group were subjected to computer-assisted instructions while learners in the control group went through the traditional lecturing instructions. To collect data, a biology performance test (BPT) was used. The reliability coefficient (Cronbach’s coefficient Alpha) calculated for the instrument was 0.704. Pre and post-tests were given to all students in both groups. We used the inferential statistics t-test to analyze the data. The results showed [t (88) = -6.640, p = .000; p<.05] indicating that there is a statistically significant difference in mean scores between groups. The findings from the study allowed us to conclude that computer-assisted instruction enhances students' performance in biology, especially in cell division. Therefore, we recommend the integration of computer-assisted instructions into teaching and learning to enhance learners’ performance in biology.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87830036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, data collection was carried out by employing an adapted instrument of a Likert-type questionnaire with five scales consisting of 68 items. Then, 120 engineering students from several engineering disciplines, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering, were selected from the overall population of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to determine their epistemological beliefs on design. According to the literature, six dimensions of beliefs were commonly perceived. The students were to describe their beliefs about design knowledge and the nature of knowing and learning design, including the source of knowledge, the certainty of knowledge, structure of knowledge, speed of knowledge acquisition, innate ability of personal and general knowledge, and real-world applicability of knowledge. The study's findings revealed that the epistemological beliefs of engineering students in each dimension yielded a difference across varying engineering majors.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88836324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Those affect the intensity of student involvement in Practical Learning which, is the main characteristic of learning activities in vocational schools. This study aimed to examine the effects of students' involvement intensity toward Practical Learning on the competitiveness, adaptability, and job performance of prospective vocational school graduates in East Java. This study used descriptive analysis techniques, analysis of variance, and confirmatory factor analysis. This study revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic which, causes restrictions on learning activities, harmed the employability level of prospective graduates. The average employability of prospective graduates is at the upper-moderate level. The mediation of students' competitive readiness and adaptability in practical learning has a positive impact on the employability of prospective graduates. Teachers and parents need to strengthen their awareness of the importance of continuing education despite the pandemic. Students need to be motivated to learn to be more capable of becoming independent learners.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84220348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They face financial problems because of irregular business operations and shirking income opportunities. They are increasingly relying on government handouts and subsidies. Several studies suggest that the digitalisation of business is a viable way to keep businesses remaining operational during the pandemic. However, there is a significant lack of research on how microenterprises can be shifted to the digital platform to harness regular business activities and cope with this pandemic situation. Based on the review of the current literature, this paper offers a conceptual framework for the digitalisation of micro-enterprises from a Malaysian standpoint. This framework comprises four major elements of the business value chain: inbound logistics, outbound logistics, operations, and marketing & sales. It also projects light on the efficiency and suitability of digitalised micro-ventures. Based on the logical reasoning, it can be concluded that the digitalisation of micro-businesses would reduce poverty by creating income opportunities for the underprivileged micro-entrepreneurs. Poor entrepreneurs could expand the business to a broader market segment and thus, gain higher benefits. Proper IT infrastructure, technology transfer, online-market places, and an efficient electronic financial transaction system are essential to building a comprehensive digital system for micro-enterprises. In this regard, government intervention can play a significant role in making it happen. Expectedly, this paper will open windows for further research while extending pieces of suggestion to policymakers.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"74 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83764819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this conception of personal agency, human development and activity is the result of the interaction of three constituent factors: person, behavior, and environment. One particular domain of functioning is self-directed learning that describes the process of an individual learner who acts as an agent to create and direct all aspects of a learning activity, which includes the critical function of selecting learning resources (i.e., critical because learning quality is the direct result of such choices). The purpose of this article is to use this sociocognitive model of reciprocal determinism as an interpretive framework for discussing how self-directed learners select learning resources.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80851580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
