This paper sought to establish how institutional doctorate supervision practices influence completion rates of doctorate programmes from selected public universities in Kenyan. The student-supervisor collaboration is a critical ingredient in doctorate programme studies. This is because when something goes wrong with either in course of their interaction, the ramification is experienced in the period studies take. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of student-supervisor interaction in doctorate degree programme from selected public universities in Kenya. The Involvement Theory and the Social Support theory were to reveal the reasons for low enrolment and completion rates of doctorates in selected Kenyan public universities. The mixed methods research design were utilised in the current study. Information was obtained from four purposively sampled universities using questionnaires, documentary analysis and interview schedules. Qualitative data was coded and then thematically analysed guided by the study objectives while quantitative data was analysed using percentages and graphs. The findings of the study would be useful for the university managements in understanding the student-supervisor relationship in doctorate programme studies. Furthermore, would also provide information to interested researchers in related topics in graduate studies. The findings of this research will be resourceful to university policy makers, administrators and lecturers to improve on institutional policy framework which could be used to enhance doctorate degree enrolment and completion in Kenyan public universities.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"193 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79720598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These RSs provide learners with real-time interaction and strengthen their participation. The project is an attempt to record the views of students (N=199) regarding the experience and the impact of their involvement in the use of RSs. In an interdepartmental course taught at the Department of Philosophy and Education of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki during the spring semester of 2020, students used RSs before, during and after the teaching process. Participants were asked to complete an appropriate questionnaire regarding online RSs applications. In this study, we examined how and to what extent students accepted their involvement in the RSs in the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic period. The participants, coming from nine University Departments, evaluated positively the integration in RSs teaching. The results showed that more than nine out of ten participants agree that these applications provide new possibilities for strengthening teaching methods through an entertaining experience and the participants have stated that these applications enhance active participation and collaborative learning and engage them actively and pleasantly in a metacognitive function process.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"309 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75258660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper is to examine the relationship between participation rate in education and training and people at risk of poverty and social exclusion. The source of data, used in the research, is Eurostat. The data represents the 25-64-year-old age group. The analyzed period is 2016-2020. It represents both genders in 34 European countries. Some countries were excluded from the analysis due to the lack of data for some years within the analyzed period. For each variable measures of descriptive statistics (measures of central tendency, measures of variability and measures of asymmetry) were calculated. Then the Pearson correlation of coefficient and coefficient of determination were computed. To assess the significance of the correlation of coefficient, hypothesis testing was performed. The procedure was performed using rejection region method and two-tailed p-vale method. Although, in 2016 and 2017, a strong linear correlation was detected between the participation rate in education and training and people at risk of poverty or social exclusion, its significance is gradually decreasing. Despite this, it should be emphasized that children born in poverty or in socially excluded families have a lower chance of succeeding in education and thus escape from the vicious circle of poverty. Thus, education should still be perceived as an important factor, and the main ‘tool’ to fight against poverty.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85172786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, we use a dynamic linear panel model to quantify the impact of various types of entrepreneurship on inclusive growth proxied by real household expenditure growth. Though there is no significant direct effect on inclusive growth, entrepreneurship appears to be more important in developing countries. Secondly, using a random effects model, we consider entrepreneurs’ role in pollution-reduction efforts. We find that entrepreneurs have contributed positively to carbon dioxide emissions. This effect, however, decreases with the level of development, suggesting that improving institutional quality is the key to promoting environmental entrepreneurship capable of making a difference to climate change. Finally, we use a hierarchical probit model to identify the key determinants of environmental entrepreneurship for individual entrepreneurs. Surprisingly, we find that high environmental pressure is associated with a lower probability of becoming an environmental entrepreneur.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66788399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on two in-depth case studies derived from secondary data and participant observation and results in a new holistic model for business that harmonises or integrates the main economic, ecological, humane and social approaches to entrepreneurship to produce a venture with a triple bottom line that does not just address profit but also people and planet. The model recognises the systemic nature of the planet and is based on systems thinking and the principle of harmony. Apart from developing the business model the attributes of the transformative entrepreneur are considered, and the role of spirituality and ‘ethical custom’ is discussed. The article questions, also, the Friedman (1970) mantra that the responsibility of business is ‘to make as much money as possible’. The implications of the approach are considered and the article will be of interest to both entrepreneurship academics and practitioners.","PeriodicalId":38847,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66788385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
