A PIN-diode having a 5 /spl mu/m basewidth is shown to operate successfully as a passive limiter at frequencies up to 2 GHz providing an isolation of about 20 dB. At higher frequencies its operation is severely degraded because of the transit-time effect. A new version of a two-diode quasi-active limiter module is shown to be an attractive alternative to conventional solid-state limiter devices. The optimal value for the Schottky-barrier diode capacitance is found. An isolation of 11.5 dB has been demonstrated for the 1.5 cm range. The utilized modeling technique enables analyzing multi-element microwave devices with a complicated interaction between the components in stationary and dynamic regimes. It provides also an effective means for the optimization of device properties.","PeriodicalId":387003,"journal":{"name":"2000 10th International Crimean Microwave Conference. \"Microwave and Telecommunication Technology\". The ratio of received and input powers gives the WPT efficiency in dependence of the amplitude distribution in transmitting array The presented data gives a comprehensive description of the basic properties of the microwave WPT system. The gaps between transmitting antenna array elements are increasing the total size of the antenna aperture. It narrows down the angular field distribution in the rectenna and is favorable to the WPT efficiency rise (at values not more than 0.7-0.8). The excessive increasing of gaps increases the side-lobes of the transmitting array. The power inside the main lobe of the angular field distribution decreases and WPT efficiency rising comes down. The first pre-cited tendency is dominated for elements with size </spl lambda/ and increasing of the WPT efficiency is up to tens percent at the optimum gap value. The two pre-cited tendencies are compensate each other with an increase of the element aperture of more than /spl lambda/. The non-uniform (quasi-Gauss) aperture distributions in the transmitting arrays are preferable only at high values WPT efficiency (more than 0.8-0.9). Uniform amplitude distribution is preferable only at the smaller WPT efficiency values (less than 0.8).","PeriodicalId":387003,"journal":{"name":"2000 10th International Crimean Microwave Conference. \"Microwave and Telecommunication Technology\".
