Electromagnetic simulation of a wireless power transmission system with phased antenna array
The power transfer efficiency between a transmitting antenna array and receiving rectenna with a continuous circular aperture is considered. The ratio of received and input powers gives the WPT efficiency in dependence of the amplitude distribution in transmitting array The presented data gives a comprehensive description of the basic properties of the microwave WPT system. The gaps between transmitting antenna array elements are increasing the total size of the antenna aperture. It narrows down the angular field distribution in the rectenna and is favorable to the WPT efficiency rise (at values not more than 0.7-0.8). The excessive increasing of gaps increases the side-lobes of the transmitting array. The power inside the main lobe of the angular field distribution decreases and WPT efficiency rising comes down. The first pre-cited tendency is dominated for elements with size
