However, computing powers of mobile devices are also relatively weaker when compared with high-end machines. For example, the CPU speeds of mobile devices are about 1/5 to 1/8 of those of desktops, and the memory of mobile devices is usually limited to several megabytes. In this demonstration, we tune the program NCTU6 to fit in mobile devices, while maintaining reasonable strength. The program also won the silver medal in TCGA 2012. In addition, we also support Connect6 puzzles in the program.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124849412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

AWNFSA is a Nearest Feature Space (NFS) based subspace learning approach. In Discriminant Nearest Feature Space Analysis (DNFSA) algorithm based on NFS, it may lead the result into misclassification when the between class scatter is very big or within class scatter is very small. Different from DNFSA, AWNFSA evaluates the effect of two scatter for classification through choosing their weights adaptively. The proposed AWNFSA is applied to image classification on ORL face Database. The experimental results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed AWNFSA.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114750231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike most other similar works that focus on generating questions for English proficiency tests, this paper provides a framework to generate factual questions in Chinese. We have decomposed this problem into several sub-tasks: a) the identification of sentences that contain factual knowledge, b) the identification of the query term from each factual sentence, and c) the generation of distractors. Learning-based approaches are applied to address the first two problems. We then propose a way to generate distractors by using E-How Net ontology database and Wikipedia sources. The system was evaluated through user study and test theory, and achieved a satisfaction rate of up to 70.6%.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125092680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the former, the framework supports the display and editing of game positions and the browsing of the game position tree. Currently, we have developed game record editors for Connect6, Go, Chinese Chess, Mahjong, etc. In this demonstration, we show how easily an editor for the game Tic-Tac-Toe is built. For the latter, the framework supports job submission to a volunteer computing system, named Computer Game Desktop Grid developed by our team, to help solve or analyze game positions. Currently, we support JL proof number search, JL alpha-beta search, and JL Monte-Carlo tree search. In this demonstration, we show how easily JL-PNS is designed.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122915605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, detection on duplicate bug reports has received much attention. There are two main reasons. First, duplicate bug reports may waste human resource to process these redundant reports. Second, duplicate bug reports may provide abundant information for further software maintenance. In the past studies, many schemes have been proposed using the information retrieval and natural language processing techniques. In this thesis, we propose a novel detection scheme based on a BM25 term weighting scheme. We have conducted empirical experiments on three open source projects, Apache, ArgoUML, and SVN. The experimental results show that the BM25-based scheme can effectively improve the detection performance in nearly all cases.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125627930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in current health examination systems, people get only a basic report from single health examination and no advanced health risk analysis is provided. In this paper, we proposed an effective mechanism for chronic disease risk prediction by mining the data containing historical health records and personal life style information. Value change trends of the data are important for disease status prediction, and we defined significant ones as health risk patterns in our mechanism. Risks of a chronic disease can be predicted early with a mechanism built with our health risk patterns and it also proven work well through experimental evaluations on real datasets. Our method outperformed traditional mechanism in terms of accuracy, precision and sensitivity for predicting the risk of diabetes. In particular, insightful observations show that the consideration of life-style information can effectively enhance whole performance for risk prediction. Moreover, classification rules produced by our mechanism which integrates C4.5 and CBA provide physicians disease related health risk patterns such that appropriate treatments could be given to people for disease prevention.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128232461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two indicators, similarity and divergence, are defined as fuzzy sets for describing the relations of pixels contained in a sliding window. In the proposed method, each pixel to be recovered is analyzed by the fuzzy sets and labeled as the associated noise type. Multiple EHW-based image filters, each of which is trained supervisedly by the pixels belonging to the same noise type, are built simultaneously. In the recovery phase, the recovering value is the fuzzy weighted summed of the outputs from the filters. Because each image filter is dedicated to a specific type of noise, it can recover pixels of the noise type more accurately. With the proposed method, the efficiency of training EHW models and accuracy of image filtering are both improved. This paper evaluates and compares the performance of the proposed method with other ones.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134574827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Feature reduction is the key issue for text classification with high dimensional keywords. A document analysis method called discriminant coefficient was proposed to reduce features and achieve high precision text classification. However, the main problem of the discriminant based feature reduction method is that the final number of reduced features is exactly equal to the number of document classes. Although the precisions of classification are high in such a method, the recalls are relatively low. In this paper, we propose an improvement on the analyzing method indiscriminant coefficients. We apply a simple clustering method to distinguish the documents in each document class to reserve hidden differences among keywords in the same class. The clustering results can help to adjust the number of reduction features flexibly. The experimental results show that the proposed clustering mechanism supports adaptive features reduction and both of the recall and F1 measurements are improved.","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124832190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We formalize the difference between both and discuss the relevance of the bandit literature for strategic decisions and test the quality of different bandit algorithms in real world examples such as board games and card games. For exploration-exploitation algorithm, we evaluate the Upper Confidence Bounds and Exponential Weights, as well as algorithms designed for simple regret, such as Successive Reject. For the exploitation, we also evaluate Bernstein Races and Uniform Sampling. As for the recommandation part, we test Empirically Best Arm, Most Played, Lower ConfidenceBounds and Empirical Distribution. In the one-player case, we recommend Upper Confidence Bound as an exploration algorithm (and in particular its variants adaptUCBE for parameter-free simple regret) and Lower Confidence Bound or Most Played Arm as recommendation algorithms. In the two-player case, we point out the commodity and efficiency of the EXP3 algorithm, and the very clear improvement provided by the truncation algorithm TEXP3. Incidentally our algorithm won some games against professional players in kill-all Go (to the best of our knowledge, for the first time in computer games).","PeriodicalId":385063,"journal":{"name":"2012 Conference on Technologies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125051177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
