The proposed system was successfully tested in evaluation of sentences originated from male and female voices and produced by a speech synthesizer using the unit selection method with two different prosody manipulation approaches. A detailed analysis shows great influence of the number of statistical parameters on correctness and precision of evaluated results. Larger size of the processed speech material has positive impact on stability of the evaluation process. The proposed analysis technique uses a discrete model developed and used to provide an iterative map. The parameter adopted to change is the gain of the proportional controller, although any other parameter can be chosen as a bifurcation parameter. Based on the iterative map the eigenvalues of the Jacobian are calculated in order to predict converter stability. All this calculations are easily implemented in Matlab™. A block structure for manipulation is formed by partitioning the host image into non-overlapping blocks of 4 ×4 pixels and applying SD to each block separately. A restitution process is used to recover the elements that should not be modified during watermarking to preserve the quality of the watermarked image. To enable the extraction of the embedded watermark based on SD, the pixel intensity in each block is shifted to another intensity level using data jittering and level-shifting processes. Experiment results indicate that the proposed scheme can be used to extract watermarks without errors when not under attack, and can withstand a variety of image processing attacks. A system based on Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is proposed to support in the control of the vegetation growth. Sensors modules can be installed sequentially in transmission lines to monitor the vegetation encroachment in transmission lines. Embedded devices containing microprocessors and radio communication modules were used in practical experiments to prove it effectiveness in the detection of the vegetation in this scenario. The obtained results are compared with the classical dyadic discrete wavelet transform and the superiority of the proposed method has been shown in terms of accuracy and F-measure metrics. Higuchi's fractal dimension (HFD), which calculates FD directly in time domain, was preferred as a nonlinear signal analysis method. EEG recordings of 6 males were collected for dataset. Results showed that HFD values of pleasant and unpleasant odor EEGs were not in normal distribution and variances between independent variables were not homogeneous in all EEG channels. HFD values of pleasant odors were significantly different from unpleasant ones in O2 (right occipital) and T7 (left temporal) channels. There was a strong correlation between frontal lobes (F3-F4) for all class of odors. HFD values of unpleasant odors were higher than pleasant odors. It showed that unpleasant odor EEGs have more complex patterns than pleasant ones. One of them is analysis of multifrequency signals in PV systems where an estimation method is necessary to run the system. Recently, a new method was developed to estimate frequency, amplitude and phase. It can obtain results very fast (even below one cycle of the tested signal) and it is also very accurate. It is not computationally complex and eliminates the impact of the conjugate component in the spectrum. This paper presents expressions for variances of amplitude and phase estimators taking into account the conjugate component in calculations. Simulation results show that the accuracy of expressions is very high in the tested range of maximum two cycles of distorted by AWGN noise signals taken into calculations. Results were compared with proper Cramér-Rao Bounds in various measurement conditions. The fiber system was modeled using split-Step Fourier algorithm to solve nonlinear Schrodinger equation that includes the effects as loss, linear dispersion and nonlinear self-phase modulation. These results clearly show that the pulse with negatively induced chirp broadens more than un-chirped pulse, whereas for positively induced chirped pulse, first compression occurs and then the pulse experiences broadening. We have shown the recovery of the pulse at 20 mW at a distance of 270 km with the interesting findings that fiber degradation effects can be minimized, even at higher power with longer propagated distance, by introducing a suitable value of the positive chirp in the input pulse. The results for the effects of variation of steepness parameter and the width of the pulse on its broadening are also discussed. The outcomes show that pulse broadening goes on increasing by reducing the width of the initial pulse; however pulse is compressed more and more as the value of the steepness parameter increases. The patch-based conventional weight map causes the brightness of the image to be shifted to one side, resulting in loss of image information, unexpected artifacts, and an overall unbalance in image brightness. In this study, we propose a novel algorithm by improving the weight map. First, the order-statistic filter using maximum values. Second, the unsharp masking filter using Laplacian. Third, the linear combination using gamma transformation. The proposed algorithm prevents the loss of image information by reducing the over-saturation of the image, accurate representation of dark and bright areas by increasing contrast, and preserve the detail such as the edge.
