The issue has been a hidden underneath bit energy and power consumptions of the devices. First, recent advances have changed energy consumption of the devices and secondly, in terms of power efficiency, the coding gain of the systems have been suppressed by Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) definition where the bit energy to noise ratio (Eb/No) value of the reception is more meaningful providing direct comparative value for the systems. In the end, the paper has concluded that the diversity gains of the systems are more effective, whatever the technique can provide a diversity gain over statistical average.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"139 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128866296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is a very challenging task to provide an efficient, well-balanced solution with fulfilling all these requirements. We are focused on the relations between security, safety and performance. This paper contains early-stage results and provides a summary of security requirements based on the selected current standards and recommendations such as IEC 62443 or NIST 800–57, and our best practices. Moreover, we introduce the relations between security and performance based on established requirements. We also provide examples of security impact on performance with using open data measurements. Last but not least, the results of this article might be used in the PLC, i.e., co-engineering, future system development or research on multiparametric methods.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125217773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although many centralized scheduling algorithms have been proposed, they still suffer from idle-listening, a state in which nodes stay awake without transmitting or receiving data, which causes wastage of the limited sensor node energy. This paper proposes a minimal-idle-listen centralized 6TiSCH scheduling algorithm (MILS) with the aim of minimizing idle listening amongst sender nodes. MILS is formulated as a Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP) problem, which schedules relay links in parallel with leaf links while maximizing the channels available in order to minimize waiting at bottleneck regions. Minimizing the number of packets in nodes close to the sink reduced delays by approximately 19% and idle-listening by 50% in MILS compared to OTF.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115283513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of different waveletfamilies such as Haar, Daubechies, Symlets, Coiflets and Bi-Orthogonal on PAPR performance of ZT DWT-S OWDM systems are investigated. Computer simulation studies are carried out to compare the ZT DWT-S OWDM waveform with the conventional OFDM and zero-tail discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (ZT DFT-S OFDM) waveforms. The results show that the ZT DWT-S OWDM waveform has better PAPR performance than the conventional OFDM and ZT DFT-S OFDM waveforms. In particular, it is observed that ZT DWT-S OWDM using Bi-Orthogonal wavelet family has the best PAPR performance.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124592562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As many landmines are nowadays mostly plastic made, the use of ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems for their detection is gaining the trend. However, despite several techniques have been proposed, a safe automatic solution is far from being at hand. In this paper, we propose a landmine detection method based on convolutional autoencoder applied to B-scans acquired with a GPR. The proposed system leverages an anomaly detection pipeline: the autoencoder learns a description of B-scans clear of landmines, and detects landmine traces as anomalies. In doing so, the autoencoder never uses data containing landmine traces at training time. This allows to avoid making strong assumptions on the kind of landmines to detect, thus paving the way to detection of novel landmine models.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124368690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Change Detection of Urban Areas in Ankara through Google Earth Engine","authors":"N. Celik","doi":"10.1109/TSP.2018.8441377","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/TSP.2018.8441377","url":null,"abstract":"Rapid urbanization with inadequate planning can have negative impact on the cities with growing population. Maintaining sustainable urban development and planning becomes one of the major necessity for the government and policy makers. Thus, being able to monitor the changes and the enlargement of the cities provides a valuable information for those decision-making bodies. This study investigates the possibilities of identifying the changed areas with Google Earth Engine (GEE) providing a fast and easy-to-use platform with its geospatial analysis tools for applications such as change detection. In this study, C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images of Sentinel-1 and Multispectral Instrument (MSI) images of Sentinel-2 were utilized to identify the changed areas, such as new built-ups or soil excavation, of 21 neighborhood units of capital city of Turkey through GEE platform. The image subtraction of MSI images were integrated with image subtraction of SAR images of 2015 and 2017. The image indices such as Difference Built-up Index (NDBI), Bare Soil Index (BSI) and Soil-adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) were also utilized. A binary supervised classification was performed by using Random Forest classifier. Finally, a post-processing with morphological operators was conducted to reduce the effects of pixel-based classification and to achieve higher test accuracy. With the postprocessing, 91% overall test accuracy and kappa value of 0.82 were achieved. The study reveals an average of 5.9% change of the total area in those selected 21 neighborhood units of Ankara and Erler neighborhood unit is the most altered with 14.5% of its total area.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127510268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, we adopt a hybrid relaying protocol so-called hybrid power splitting and time switching (HPTS) to allow EH and information processing at relays. To discuss relay selection (RS), we try to achieve the average end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Then, expressions for outage probability and delay-restricted throughput are obtained. It is observed that the system throughput is significantly improved thanks to the change of number of relays.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"241 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114464723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main aim of this study is to propose a data processing scheme capable to filter out the effects of concrete sleepers on GPR signals with compound information (ie., containing multiple reflections from the concrete sleepers and the underlying ballast material). The method relies on spectral-based processing, i.e., it is based on the minimisation of the difference between i) the frequency spectra of the GPR traces collected along the scanning line at the abscissae of the sleepers and ii) the spectra of the traces acquired at the abscissae of the material between two consecutive sleepers. To this purpose, a stretch of 9.8 km of railway line was investigated using two horn antenna systems with operating frequencies of 1000 and 2000 MHz. Each system was oriented in two different ways, i.e. longitudinally and transversely with respect to the orientation of the tracks. Results have proven the viability of the proposed data processing scheme and spectral-based processing method to reduce the effects exerted by the sleepers on the signal.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128478725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
