Although this higher frequency band has larger amounts of spectrum and will lead to much higher capacity in 5G networks, it has some propagation constraints such as limited coverage and sensitivity to Line of Sight (LoS) blockage. A possible solution to these issues could be small cell densification combined with utilizing access points carried by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This paper presents a performance evaluation of the UAV-assisted mmWave network in urban environments using ns-3 simulations.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129179917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is essentially an enhanced version of the standard TXOP mechanism initially introduced by the IEEE 802.11e amendment, specifically engineered to improve performance of the Downlink Multi-User Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (DL MU-MIMO) technology. DL MU-MIMO transmissions with TXOP sharing are performed only by the Access Point (AP) allowing multiple frames from multiple traffic classes to be transmitted simultaneously towards multiple users in the downlink. However, in the reverse path, acknowledgments must be transmitted sequentially. The default acknowledgment scheme selected by the IEEE 802.11ac is the Block Acknowledgments (BlockACK) which is a poll-based approach. In this paper, we investigate the application of an acknowledgment-free scheme, known as No Acknowledgment (NoACK), during DL MU-MIMO transmissions in IEEE 802.11ac Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). Its impact on the overall achieved throughput is evaluated through an analytical study.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123649226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tracking algorithm based on particle filter used instead of the built-in TLD tracking module for short-term tracking. This method allows achieving the average precision gain 12.6%. The modification was compared with original TLD. TLD with particle filter was tested on videos from VIVID dataset. The results showed how the algorithm works in difficult conditions such as rotation, scale changes and occlusions. Modified algorithm is slower than TLD, but its speed can provide working in real-time.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121287666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Oftentimes, this is the only feasible approach in case of industrial system identification where the capacity to perform time domain experiments is limited due to associated expenses. In this work, we comment on the potential of this approach and investigate the model parameter estimation method based on frequency domain data. To detect the signals transmitted from BS, users should have their channel information. Instead of assuming that each user can perfectly know the expected value of its effective channel gain, users use least-square (LS) estimation to estimate their effective channel gains through downlink training. However, the estimated effective channel gains will be polluted by interference from other cells due to the limited pilots, which will degrade the system performance if it is not treated well. To alleviate it, a novel pilots allocation scheme is proposed in which users who use the same uplink pilot sequence are allocated with mutual orthogonal downlink pilots. With this scheme, we prove for maximum-ratio transmission (MRT) and zero-forcing (ZF) precoding that the relative estimation error of the effective channel gain tends to zero when the number of BS antenna goes to infinity. Simulation results validate the efficiency of our proposal.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127636650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper, according to the report ITU-R BT.2254-2, presents minimal carrier-to-noise (C/N) values for the correct reception of DVB-T2 signal, fulfilling quasi-error-free (QEF) condition, under portable indoor reception scenarios. The influence of different code rates (CRs), M-QAM modulations, guard interval (GI) lengths and pilot patterns (PPs) on the DVB-T2 performance is studied. In addition, this study takes into account In-phase and Quadrature (IQ) errors, which can occur in the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulator. All the theory-based results are confirmed by extensive laboratory measurements. The obtained results extend the ITU-R BT.224-2 report with a new set of C/N values for DVB-T2 signals under different portable indoor reception scenarios, which can be used by the broadcasters for DVB-T2 network planning.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115875398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we propose a novel minimum mean square error (MMSE) noise estimator that takes advantage of dual-channel noisy observations to avoid the use of a clean speech model while keeping a simple formulation. The parameters of this estimator are obtained through the unscented transform (UT), which is able to compute better quality statistics in a more efficient way than through classical vector Taylor series (VTS) linearization. For evaluation, speech enhancement on a dual-microphone smartphone in close-talk conditions is considered, which is a particular application of interest. Results show the superiority of our proposal with respect to other single-and dual-channel noise estimation methods in terms of different measures such as estimation accuracy as well as on the enhanced speech signal, i.e., speech quality and intelligibility.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132370247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although it is hypothesized its progress is tightly linked with changes in other motor/non-motor features of PD, it has not been proved yet. The aim of this work is to employ acoustic analysis of sustained phonation in order to identify significant correlates between phonatory measures and motor/non-motor deficits in a two-year follow-up study. For this purpose, we repeatedly quantified a sustained vowel/a/in 51 PD patients who were also assessed by 5 common clinical scales. In addition, a multivariate regression model was trained to predict the motor/non-motor deficits in the horizon of two years. Results suggest that mainly instability in vocal folds oscillation increases with the progress of PD and with overall cognitive decline. Based on the acoustic analysis, the change in clinical scores could be predicted with the error in the range of 11.83-19.60 %.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130464722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike the prevalent methods for image security like steganography, the proposed scheme does not tamper with the medical images and ensures no loss of medical information. The digital unique ID is obtained by strategically combination of local features extracted from MRI image in Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) domain and patient's information. For authentication of medical image, the patient's information can be recovered from generated unique ID without any loss only after access of the particular unique ID. The proposed method has been tested on the publicly accessible dataset of medical MRI images and promising results were observed for solving the security issues of medical MRI images. Therefore the proposed method can be implemented in the field of tele-medicine and can be applied in areas where accurate and loss-less verification is a must as this may have great relevance when human health is concerned.","PeriodicalId":383018,"journal":{"name":"2018 41st International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131709503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
