Picture books have been considered as an effective tool for multicultural education. Therefore, it is crucial to closely examine the factors of student diversity in school teachers’ text selection process. This study analyzed the cases of the United States, in which a multicultural society has been formed over a relatively longer period of time than in Korea in terms of languages, culture, social and economic backgrounds. This study aimed to clarify the factors and values that teachers in the lower grades of elementary school in the U.S. consider important as having priority, thus has more influence in selecting books, and how various backgrounds of students are reflected in teachers’ text selection process. The data was collected by interviewing 13 lower-grade American elementary school teachers and was qualitatively analyzed. The findings the research derive implications for the role and direction of teachers in using picture books for multicultural education in Korea. Based on the implications, this research contributes to the effective selection and use of picture book of multicultural education in Korea and contributes to the establishment of the foundation for the development of teacher education as well.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125101404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, the experience of studying in Korea was qualitatively explored for 7 foreign students who came to Korea to study but quit their studies midway and returned to their home country. In particular, in order to understand in depth the personal experience, meaning, and importance of foreign students studying in Korea, the study was divided into the preparation process for studying in Korea, life in Korea, dropout, and current life after returning. In addition, an in-depth analysis was conducted on how to utilize the capital for studying in Korea in their own countries after returning. As a result, 'Korean Wave and advanced Korea' in preparation for studying in Korea, 'accumulation and awareness of experience' in studying in Korea, 'maladjustment and COVID-19' in dropout, and 'study abroad capital and transformative learning' in current life after returning was able to derive. This study expands on previous studies focusing on the dropout factors of foreign language students to investigate the dropout factors of foreign language students.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128693190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study helps systematize the constitution of career ladder, ODA human resource development, and support job seekers’ career development paths. This study employs AHP analysis based on the survey results to produce the career ladder preference for each level, and conducts a comparative analysis of preference average and preference regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, it identifies the preference within each level of Career Ladder and finds statistically significant preference depending on individuals’ characteristics. When it comes to the relationship between career levels, university students, who would like to work at KOICA and the International Organizations, have different career preferences in the Level 1 and 2, respectively. As career preferences in Level 1-2 are interconnected with the Level 3 preference, a career development plan is strategically required to raise the awareness of ODA ecosystem and development cooperation.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"2015 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127615777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to COIVD-19 pandemic restrictions on oversea travel, an alternative GS-L educational program was developed to prepare, implement, and evaluate volunteer activities on the theme of refugees during the 2021 winter vacation. Special lectures by experts and thematic exploration workshops were designed and operated as education for understanding and empathy on refugee, and special lectures and program development workshops for each activity were designed and operated to prepare for volunteer activities. As the refugee relief organization requested Korean and English classes, art therapy, and learning mentoring, students who have taken the related courses were given priority in the selection process. University students conducted foreign language classes and art therapy using non-face-to-face Zoom meetings with overseas refugees, and for domestic refugees, face-to-face learning mentoring service, social media refugee advocacy activities, design production and volunteer activities were conducted. The participant students developed a sense of global citizenship and showed great growth in exploring their own career paths. This study is meaningful in expanding the field of learning experience to the world and presenting new educational possibilities based on the case of face-to-face and non-face-to-face GS-L focusing on the theme of refugees.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130385046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the members of teacher community have diverse careers and subject backgrounds, they pursued common problem-solving through mutual communication. The results of the collaborative action research were as follows: First, research participants pursued the success of instruction while promoting the reflective practice of global citizenship education through group deliberation. Second, the teachers who participated in the research showed various patterns of acceptance of the teacher educator's instructional consulting, which were discriminatory responses such as active acceptance, selective acceptance, passive acceptance and alternative practice. Third, although elementary school teachers selected a common topic in the process of designing and implementing global citizenship education, they showed a differentiated appearance in the way the instruction is developed. The above research results create the need to practice teacher education while systemizing the goals and contents of global education.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134018380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The competition for space has been a struggle in behalf of possession for good territory. Sovereign states have been a physical and legal violence historically. Geopolitics is an academic discipline of super powers only that have a dominant position in a global world. This means balance of power system among nations and it causes the murder of a human life and destruction of a human dignity in a real world. Globalization does need transformation of a traditional geopolitics because of its multi-level orders. This paper pursues to change from military power centered geopolitics with hard resources to human centered it with soft resources composed of economy, culture, thought, information, and intelligence technology. The era of new thinking on geopolitics is coming beyond geopolitics by violence and war. From perspective of upon geopolitics of intervention-diffusion and the more, the better space to human life can be formed via peaceful methods and devices. In this respect, the possibility of human centered global geopolitics is searched through reinterpretation process of great games as an ideal type.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127059603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Republic of Korea, born in the conflictual structure of the international power struggle, has endured the difficulties of the Korean War and Cold War. As a result, in Korean society, where peace has had to be craved, nationalism and Cold War conflict have overrun the discourse of peace. In this context, Korean society's peace discourse has focused on overcoming the Peninsula's division rather than pursuing peace as a universal value of human beings. This article aims to review how the attitude and discourse on peace expressed by Korean society have changed under the structure of international power distribution or polarity and how peace education has adapted. For that purpose, this article first reviews the diverse concepts of peace, the process of adaptation of peace discourse and peace education to the changes in the international political situation, and then discusses the possible future directionality of peace education.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121401565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, a strategic triangle structure is formed and used as an explanatory body. Accordingly, the paper sets the following as the basic assumption. First, in international relations, equilateral triangles are the most ideal, but in the change of the friendly-hostile relationship between the two, triangles are difficult to maintain their ideal shape and inevitably undergo ‘shape changes’. Second, the change in shape of the triangle means the formation of a strategic environment. Third, the typical shape change of the strategic environment is an isosceles triangle, and countries located at the vertices of the isosceles triangle have vulnerabilities, and those countries attempt strategic responses to overcome vulnerabilities. This article understands that the recent change in the U.S.-China relationship to a strategic competition relationship is a strategic environment change that triggers a triangle change in shape for Korea. Accordingly, it raises the need to pay attention to changes in cooperative relations with China along with traditional friendly relations with the United States in the Korea-U.S.-China relationship. In addition, the strategic triangle is a global environmental change that can be used in appropriate educational programs to explain the patterns and dynamics of changes in relationships of international actors.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114962435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve the purpose, the framework of the 2015 English National Curriculum was analysed in terms of ICC. \u0000The findings are as follows: (1) There are cultural objectives closely related to ICC. (2) The contents such as attitudes, knowledge, skills, and implement force aren't presented for improving their intercultural competences, although there are the topics related to ICC in the content of the curriculum. (3) There are not any accomplishment standards directly related to both communication competence and intercultural competence of ICC. (4) Teaching-learning methods need to be presented based on cognitive and affective levels of primary English language learners in detail according to grade clusters. (5) There are not any assessment methods directly related to ICC. From the findings, it was suggested that the objectives, the contents, the accomplishment standards, and the teaching-learning and assessing methods related to ICC should be established explicitly in the curriculum for primary English language learners.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114650835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this transition, the digital divide between generations and income has also deteriorated. In this context, it becomes an urgent task for us to educate the digitally underprivileged for stable digital transformation. To this end, this paper developed a digital transformation index and compared and analyzed the digital transformation level of each country. The result confirmed that there were significant differences in the degree of digital transformation among countries and regions, which is related to the country’s economic development. In addition, digital education policies and performance for the digitally vulnerable were reviewed, focusing on Korea, which ranked high in the digital transformation index. It found that the digital citizenship education for the elderly of Korea, has been a significant and positive effect in improving the digital ability of those digitally vulnerable citizens. We expect that the case of Korea provides a good precedent for developing countries to set up policies related to accelerate digital transformation and ease the digital divide, which further contribute to enhancing diplomatic relation with Korea.","PeriodicalId":382684,"journal":{"name":"Association of Global Studies Education","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114074251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
