The reason why the Crying Marriage appeared so is that Tujia women lost their rights to marriage. The emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasty abolished local governments and dispatched officials from the capital to govern local people. Then, local people in different areas of China started to adapt the traditions of Han culture (the mainstream culture in China). In this case, since Han culture advocated arranged marriage, Tujia parents also started to arrange their daughters' marriages. Tujia women lost the right to marry so they started crying during their marriages, and then this behavior developed into a ritual. Also, during the development of Crying Marriage, more and more elements appeared, such as lyrics and skills. Although it seems like the purpose of Crying Marriage is to help Tujia women gain their rights, it backfired. On the contrary, Crying Marriage diverted people's attention from women's rights to appreciate this ritual. This study developed two concepts, Active Change, and Passive Change to explain this process.","PeriodicalId":380947,"journal":{"name":"BCP Social Sciences & Humanities","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134251860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Having the functions of compensation, punishment, and prevention, punitive damages are the necessary solution to the inherent deficiencies in current remedy system in China that both civil and public remedies can hardly cover the losses of communities. However, punitive damages are misunderstood theoretically and practically in China. Traditional critics like caseload of courts, lack of procedural protections, ineffectiveness in punishment and deterrence, and overlapping in functions cannot deny the necessity of establishing punitive damages. Meanwhile, punitive damages in Chinese legal system cannot fit in with their functions, comparing with legal practice in the US. This issue is mainly the result of the inadequate application conditions, narrow scope of factors, and single distribution of damages, which are also the issues to be resolved when reconstructing the punitive damages system. Based on legal analysis of positive law and judicial practice in both America and China, this article attempts to justify the necessity of punitive damages as well as putting forward some approaches to the reconstruction of punitive damages in China.","PeriodicalId":380947,"journal":{"name":"BCP Social Sciences & Humanities","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123841085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The economic linkages between China and Taiwan have been seen as, on the one hand, the stabilizing factor that incorporated the two camps together. On the other hand, it can also be disturbing catalysis that agitate anti-China protest in Taiwan. Undoubtedly, the effectiveness of the Chinese economic statecraft towards Taiwan as a research subject deserves greater scholarly attention not only because of its contemporary relevance but because it can provide empirical cases for the theorization of economic sanctions and economic inducement. This article looks at the Chinese economic statecraft towards Taiwan in the first two decades of the new millennium. This article applies the qualitative method and case studies. By looking at the case of sanctions on Taiwanese business figures, the fruit deals in 2005, this article evaluates the effectiveness of the Chinese economic sanctions and economic inducements in the early 2000s. This article then looks at the Chinese institutional balancing by excluding Taiwan from joining AIIB and the BRI initiative. Finally, this article concludes that the Chinese economic statecraft will remain effective as its institutional influence is growing in the region. This article argues that despite the NSP appearing to attenuate the Taiwanese economic influence of the mainland, the Chinese economic statecraft has been, in general, effective. The Cross-Strait economic interdependence is likely to continue.","PeriodicalId":380947,"journal":{"name":"BCP Social Sciences & Humanities","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129197420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, after 1974, due to changes in the domestic and international environment and multiple subjective and objective reasons, coupled with the impact of the global oil crisis, Brazil’s economy gradually declined. And after 1980, it entered what was known as the \"lost decade\". The article analyzes the policy-level causes of Brazil's economic miracle recession in a comparative manner, using data from the statistical yearbooks obtained from the Brazilian National Institute of Geography and Statistics (INEGI) for the period 1970 to 1980. The analysis shows that a large part of the reason for the gradual decline of the Brazilian economic miracle came from the policies implemented by the Brazilian government during this period, such as debt development strategy, industrial-based industrial structure, trade protection and state intervention. The article further notes that the late decline of Brazil's economic miracle is precisely due to its policy nature of short-term overdraft and unsustainability. By inference, if a country implements policies during economic transition that are not based on its own national conditions, ignoring its own resource advantages, focusing on economic development and neglecting social and livelihood protection it may repeat the bad consequences of the policy backlash suffered by Brazil.Through the compilation and analysis of data, the article explores and summarizes the deep-seated reasons behind the decline of Brazil's economic miracle from the policy level, and provides lessons for other countries to learn in the process of developing their own economies.","PeriodicalId":380947,"journal":{"name":"BCP Social Sciences & Humanities","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117120920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At present, the greenhouse effect has caused more serious environmental problems, and in response to this phenomenon, various countries have formulated corresponding emission reduction policies. However, most scholars now analyze China's energy security in terms of global events and geopolitics. Little research has argued how current policies introduced by the G7 group may indirectly impact China's strategy to safeguard its Southeast energy security. This paper analyses the motives behind China's ambitious sustainable energy projects in Asia from China's energy security perspective. Moreover, to safeguard its future sustainable energy security, it has standardized China's southern neighbors' hard and soft infrastructure in ASEAN. This paper then discusses the G7 group's flagship project in Southeast Asia, led by the United States, for fear of China becoming a regional hegemon. The project could also indirectly threaten China's future energy security. Lastly, this paper discusses how the increased competition introduced by the G7 group, especially the United States, may improve the projects offered by both China and the western countries, which could provide more leeway for ASEAN countries to negotiate.","PeriodicalId":380947,"journal":{"name":"BCP Social Sciences & Humanities","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114150822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The feminist content in Disney has evolved with the wave of the feminist movement. More and more brave, astute and independent female characters appear in movies. Compared with the simple princess movies, which tell the story of the elegant but weak princess who is rescued by the prince, these new female characters reflect the change of people's thoughts. These feminist contents promote the concept of gender equality, show the diversity of women's beauty, and deepen people's self-affirmation. However, some evidence shows that Disney characters have deformed aesthetics and tend to cause unhealthy body control. But people can improve this problem by being tolerant of beauty’s distance and paying attention to the beauty within. Parents can also guide their children to learn about women's rights in movies so that the improved Disney movies can play a more positive role.","PeriodicalId":380947,"journal":{"name":"BCP Social Sciences & Humanities","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114819170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
