Une sténose nasopharyngée caudale est diagnostiquée sur la base d’un examen tomodensitométrique et confirmée par pharyngoscopie. Le traitement consiste en la réalisation d’une dilatation par ballonnet à l’aveugle ayant permis une résolution transitoire des signes cliniques au bout de 10<!--> <!-->jours. Une seconde procédure similaire est réalisée dans ce contexte conduisant à la normalisation complète de l’état du chat deux mois après la prise en charge. De bon pronostic à long terme malgré de fréquentes récidives, des interventions multiples sont souvent nécessaires, associées parfois à la pose d’endoprothèses bien que limitée en région caudale. Ce cas suggère qu’une approche simplifiée réalisée à l’aveugle est envisageable dans des cas de sténoses nasopharyngées caudales dont l’endoscopie ne permet pas une visualisation correcte avec un taux de succès plutôt similaire aux procédures de dilatations réalisées sous contrôle endoscopique et fluoroscopique.</p></div><div><p>This report describes the case of a 9-month-old cat presenting with chronic respiratory signs including a stertor that did not respond to antibiotic and anti-inflammatory treatment in the context of a coryza syndrome diagnosed at adoption. Caudal nasopharyngeal stenosis was diagnosed on the basis of a CT scan and confirmed by pharyngoscopy. Treatment consisted of blind balloon dilatation, with transient resolution of clinical signs after 10 days. A second similar procedure was carried out in this context, leading to complete normalisation of the cat's condition two months after treatment. With a good long-term prognosis despite frequent recurrences, multiple operations are often necessary, sometimes combined with stenting, although limited to the caudal region. This case suggests that a simplified approach performed blindly may be possible in cases of caudal nasopharyngeal stenosis where endoscopy does not allow correct visualisation, with a success rate similar to dilatations performed under endoscopic and fluoroscopic control.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":38077,"journal":{"name":"Revue Veterinaire Clinique","volume":"59 3","pages":"Pages 132-140"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142167401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The peripheral vitreous was degenerative in 23 dogs (12 females and 11 males) with 10 females and 7 males exhibiting bi- or unilateral vitreous prolapse in the anterior chamber: among these dogs, the intraocular pressure was over 20<!--> <!-->mm<!--> <!-->Hg in 4 females and 2 males; 2 of the 5 re-examined dogs presented a unilateral glaucoma within the 3 years period. The association vitreous degeneration – vitreous prolapse in the anterior chamber was reported in 63% of the related dogs that underwent examination. Affected and non-affected dogs were clear for the ADAMTS17 mutation associated to primary lens luxation when assessed. The objective of this study was to conduct a literature review using the “critically appraised topic” (CAT) to determine the benefits and risks of oclacitinib for the treatment of allergic pruritus in dogs. A thorough review of the literature identified 19 pertinent studies, encompassing clinical trials and retrospective analyses were critically appraised. Evaluating the best available evidence suggests that oclacitinib is an effective agent for controlling pruritus in allergic dogs. Oclacitinib is safe when used according to the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPCs): over 5 years, oclacitinib has demonstrated only rare to very rare adverse events but caution is still needed when using oclacitinib over longer periods of time, as we have little data on possible mid- to longer-term adverse events.
