Les consultations pédiatriques ont initié les protocoles de vaccination fondamentaux pour la protection de l’animal, permettant notamment de traverser la période critique vaccinale pendant laquelle le chiot ou le chaton a pu ne pas répondre à la stimulation vaccinale en lien avec la présence de l’immunité passive maternelle. La consultation pubertaire permet de clôturer cette étape fondamentale et d’instaurer une immunité forte et durable grâce aux valences essentielles dirigées contre des maladies virales qui touchent préférentiellement les jeunes chiens et chats. Cette consultation permet également d’aborder, en fonction d’une analyse du risque infectieux (Freyburger, 2021), la potentielle mise en place de vaccinations circonstancielles, dont les maladies à transmission vectorielle sont les principales représentantes.</div></div><div><div>The vaccination protocols concerning the essential valences DA<sub>2</sub>P for dogs (distemper [D], hepatitis of Rubarth [A<sub>2</sub>], parvovirosis [P]) and leptospirosis (L, or L2, L3, L4), as well as RCP for cats (feline infectious rhinotracheitis [R], feline calicivirus [C], feline parvovirus [P]), and incidental diseases (infection by feline leukaemia virus [FeLV]), have structured the growth and the bond between the owner and the veterinary clinic during the first six months of life (Squires et al., 2024). Pediatric consultations initiated the fundamental vaccination protocols for the animal's protection, notably allowing the puppy or kitten to pass through the critical vaccination period during which the animal may not respond to the vaccine stimulation due to the presence of passive maternal immunity. The pubertal consultation marks the end of this essential phase and establishes a strong and durable immunity thanks to the essential valences targeted against viral diseases that primarily affect young dogs and cats. This consultation also allows, depending on an analysis of infectious risk (Freyburger, 2021), the potential implementation of incidental vaccinations, among which vector-borne diseases are the main representatives.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":38077,"journal":{"name":"Revue Veterinaire Clinique","volume":"60 4","pages":"Pages 190-197"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"145340535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consécutive à de nombreuses consultations pédiatriques rythmées, notamment par les protocoles de vaccination, la consultation pubertaire pouvait être facilement considérée comme une consultation marketing, non vitale. Pourtant, l’application d’une démarche de consultation de médecine préventive par analyse de risques permet de prendre conscience que la puberté est une étape clé dans le développement de l’organisme. Si certains risques ne sont pas correctement identifiés et pris en charge à la puberté, ils s’exprimeront par une probable dégradation de la santé dans la vie future de certains individus. En introduction à ce numéro consacré à la consultation pubertaire, cet article rappelle les objectifs de la médecine préventive, la méthodologie de l’analyse de risques et ses particularités, et met en exergue les points de vigilance particuliers qui seront développés dans les textes suivants.</div></div><div><div>Puberty consultations have long been considered an optional part of medical care for dogs and cats. Following numerous paediatric consultations, particularly those related to vaccination protocols, puberty consultations could easily be considered a marketing ploy rather than a vital part of medical care. However, the application of a preventive medicine consultation approach based on risk analysis has raised awareness that puberty is a key stage in the development of the body. If certain risks are not correctly identified and managed during puberty, they are likely to result in a deterioration in the health of some individuals later in life. As an introduction to this issue on puberty consultations, this article reviews the objectives of preventive medicine, the methodology of risk analysis and its specific features, and highlights the particular points to be monitored, which will be developed in the following articles.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":38077,"journal":{"name":"Revue Veterinaire Clinique","volume":"60 4","pages":"Pages 185-189"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"145340534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cryptococcosis is an opportunistic disease with a zoonotic potential caused by fungi of the genus <em>Cryptococcus</em>. It affects many species, including canids, felines, humans, and rodents such as <em>Cavia porcellus</em>, popularly known in Brazil as guinea pig. La cohabitation avec le loup, puis le partage de l’environnement humain par les premiers sujets domestiqués, étaient certainement un peu différents de ce qui était suggéré au départ. La mise en place progressive d’une organisation d’élevage pour les races actuelles met en évidence le rôle majeur des expositions de beauté, dont sont issus les pedigrees puis les livres généalogiques. La rigidité de cette organisation, héritière de conceptions typiques du XIX<sup>e</sup> siècle, a laissé des traces et a généralement conduit à sous-estimer les dangers de la sélection phénotypique. L’augmentation de la consanguinité et la réduction de la variabilité génétique qui en résultent nécessitent de nouvelles stratégies de sélection, présentées dans leurs grandes lignes. Ces deux effets néfastes de la sélection généalogique ont parfois atteint un tel degré que le croisement est aujourd’hui nécessaire pour restaurer la santé d’une race et assurer son avenir.</div></div><div><div>The origin of dog breeds is presented, emphasizing some data that have changed the understanding of the domestication process and the emergence of primary breeds. The cohabitation with the wolf, and then the sharing of the human environment by the first domesticated subjects, was certainly a little different from what was still being suggested at the beginning. The gradual establishment of the breeding framework for current breeds highlights the major role of beauty shows, from which pedigrees and then registers are derived. The rigidity of this organization, heir to typical nineteenth-century conceptions, has left a mark and generally led to underestimating the dangers of phenotypic selection. The increase in inbreeding and the resulting reduction in genetic variability require new breeding strategies, presented in broad outline. These two detrimental effects of selection on genealogy have sometimes reached such a degree that crossbreeding is now necessary to restore the health of a breed and ensure its future.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":38077,"journal":{"name":"Revue Veterinaire Clinique","volume":"60 3","pages":"Pages 149-162"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144680032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
