To meet the growing aesthetic desire for an alternative to traditional braces, researchers have created a variety of alternatives, including ceramic or composite braces, lingual orthodontics, and transparent aligners. Clear aligner therapy is a treatment that consists of a set of clear dental appliances that are custom-made to fit the contour of a patient's teeth. Clear Aligners are an alternative to traditional braces that are used to guide teeth into appropriate alignment. Clear aligners, like braces, utilise a progressive force to regulate tooth movement, but without the need of metal wires or brackets.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129436198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the incorporation of neutral cone technique serves as an alternative approach in the fabrication of lower complete dentures specifically in ridges which are highly atrophic. The technique aims to construct a denture that is shaped by muscle function and is in harmony with the surrounding oral structures. It is rarely used because of the extra clinical step involved and some clinicians may find the detection of neutral zone difficult. This article describes a technique for improving the stability of mandibular complete denture for patients who have a resorbed mandibular residual ridge.This neutral zone impression technique is a useful technique when providing mandibular complete denture. It’s use can overcome some of the denture stability difficulties caused in some patients with a more powerful oral musculature, or in patients who have poor or altered neuromuscular control.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122764325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This case report presents management of horizontally deficient maxillary anterior ridge with ridge split procedure using piezotome and simultaneous implant placement. In contrast to other ridge augmentation techniques, ridge splitting allows for immediate implant placement following surgery reducing the overall treatment time and eradicates the possible morbidity from a second surgical site.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114163238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the ability to reconstruct the periodontium is limited after alveolar bone loss, early diagnosis and intervention should be paramount goals of periodontal treatment preventing future disease’s progression. Saliva is a physiologic fluid that contains complex mixture of substances as well as inflammatory biomarkers associated with periodontitis. Conventional clinical criteria are often insufficient for determining sites of active disease, for monitoring the response to therapy, or for measuring the degree of susceptibility to future disease progression. Therefore, the use of saliva has provided a substantial addition to the diagnostic armamentarium as an investigative tool for disease processes. With the current technological advances, together with point-of-care detection systems, salivary analysis will be valued much more highly in the near future. Even though saliva is easy to manipulate with low-cost storage, careful attention must be directed to limit variation in specimen integrity. This review focuses on the biomarkers in saliva that appears to be promising in the future for periodontal diagnosis, as well as some contemporary diagnostic tests available.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129295209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For aesthetic purpose while fabricating the complete denture prosthesis, restoring the labial fullness is a sensitive procedure. There are some clinical situations where the labial flange gives poor facial aesthetics. It is more occur in proclined maxillary anterior ridge or thick labial cortical plate with severe labial undercut. In this article we are presenting a case with thick labial cortical plates and severe labial undercut. So, we have modified the complete denture and delivered a prong (flangeless) denture to give more aesthetic appearance to the patient.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126864466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Out of which phonetics is generally given least importance as the tongue tends to adapt and patients tend to return to normal speech after a post insertion practice period of several weeks to several months. This may not be acceptable to certain group of people in accordance with their needs to speak socially or vocationally. An accurate approximation of palatal contours of a maxillary complete denture to patient’s tongue can improve intelligibility and decrease the post- insertion practice period. This article outlines a technique to replicate the patient’s palatal anatomy onto the polished palatal surface of a complete denture.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114404596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sinus lift both by direct and various indirect accesses were hitherto utilized to counter the compromising situation. But the risk of implant failure if the implant was simultaneously placed besides the parasthesia, perforation and morbidity were experienced more with more the cases documented. The osseodensification(OD), a relatively new technique provides a minimally invasive approach along with feasibility where the above-mentioned other modalities are contraindicated. The present article presents the novel case of indirect sinus lift with OD concept and simultaneous implant placement using an adjunct PRF (Platelet-rich fibrin).","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129037137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quality, quantity and the volume of available bone at the planned implant site has to be assessed properly when planning a dental implant placement. When we speak of the fore-mentioned aspects pre-surgical imaging and its co-relation to clinical findings help assess the relation to the amount of bone available from underlying vital parts namely the sinus cavities, nasal floor, nerves, teeth and vessels. Different radiographic modalities have been advocated for its assessment. Intra Oral Peri-apical radiograph (two-dimensional) is one such modality that has lost its importance after the introduction of more advanced techniques like Cone Beam Tomography (three-dimensional). This article will help us understand how two-dimensional and three-dimensional imaging modalities go hand in hand while treating dental patients. It will also explain why the conventional imaging technologies are still required in this era of modern methods of imaging.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128449112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
