The aim of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of prognostic value of laser-assisted root canal treatment (LART) and conventional root canal treatment (RCT).: A retrospective analysis of 50 cases equally divided between Laser-assisted root canal treatment (LART) and conventional RCT, was done using Clinician-reported Outcome (ClinRo) protocol by modifying Chugal et al scoring criteria. : Statistical analysis using Mann-Whitney U tests revealed no significant correlation between gender and total treatment quality score. However, significant correlation was found between treatment modalities, and with laser assisted RCT treatment it showed a superior correlation and better prognostic results.: The radiographic analysis focused on periapical lesions and root canal filling quality. Laser-assisted RCT demonstrated a higher proportion of complete healing cases for periapical lesions and improved root canal filling quality compared to conventional RCT. : The study supports the potential benefit of laser assisted RCT in non-surgical endodontic interventions. Laser-assisted RCT showed better prognosis in terms of periapical healing and root canal filling quality when compared to conventional RCT. The study encourages further research and clinical validation to establish laser assisted RCT as a viable option in endodontic therapy.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140699871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective in localization of an impacted canine is to be able to decide such a radiographic technique which has minimal radiation dose, cost and minimum superimpositions. Panoramic radiograph, being a screening radiograph, can satisfy the above needs. Taking this into consideration, the present study was done to evaluate the reliability of panoramic radiograph in localization of impacted permanent maxillary canines, when compared to cone-beam computed tomography.OPG and CBCT images of 100 maxillary impacted canines were included in the study irrespective of site. Each OPG was evaluated for vertical angulation and the data obtained was tabulated and subjected to statistical analysis.In the present study, the female to male ratio was 2.57:1, with a slightly higher prevalence of impacted maxillary canines on left side. The results of the present study show a 100% concordance between OPG and CBCT for palatal and buccal impactions, and 91% for mid-alveolus impactions.Based on the results of the present study, it may be concluded that panoramic radiographs are useful for predicting the location of impacted maxillary canines against the confirmatory radiographic modality like CBCT.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"347 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140703129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The size, form, and number of teeth can all vary. It is the most frequent type of supernumerary tooth, and it is generally found between the top two central incisors, which may be impacted or erupted. CBCT pictures were collected to properly diagnose the form and location of the mesiodens. Their presence can cause a range of clinical issues. The current report discusses a rare example of palatally positioned, inverted, and impacted mesiodens discovered during a malocclusion radiographic evaluation. It seeks to demonstrate early detection, planning, and the proper method, allowing the teeth and neighbouring teeth to be preserved.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"64 s90","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140700460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
