The dental health care carries the huge risk of infection due to the generation of the aerosols, through high-speed airotor. This has led to a big toll on the delivery of the dental services at global level. Even when the oral health care services are getting opened, there is still lot of dilemmas in the mind of oral health professionals in provision of the services. This crisis has given us a chance for addressing the issues of relevance affecting the oral health care services and failures of the health care system. It is time to rethink our priorities and strengthen the over-all integrity of the health care system. These calls for higher focus upon the oral care prevention strategies can be amalgamated as part of the public health care system along with strengthening of public health care.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125696757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cavity preparation was done and the two test materials (Dycal and MTA) were placed at the base in their respective groups and restored with RMGIC. Post-operative radiograph was taken for baseline data. Patients were assessed at Subsequent at 1 and 6 months both clinically and radiographically. Both the test materials had formed a good biological seal, arrested further caries progression and did not cause any adverse pulpal reaction. However the amount of reparative dentin formed was highest in the Dycal group followed by MTA group. Both the experimental materials Dycal and MTA showed reparative dentin formation at the end of 1 and 6 months and also formed a good biological seal and maintained vitality of the pulp which indicates both are good IPT material.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115251014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Discoveries let us change old paradigms with the new ones. SDF being cleared for commercial use now can help in achieving the all-time goal of caries prevention. Various studies have established that options like potassium iodide and different restorations can help mask the staining problem of SDF. This can restore form and function as well for the teeth. With the unimaginable COVID 19 situation, dentistry has realized the importance of minimally invasive interventions than ever before. SDF is a blessing in such challenging times and it may be the magical alternative to caries management in the future.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115725105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most detergents claim a 99.99% efficacy in killing bacteria however, there is paucity in literature if there will be a microbial growth “in use” detergents. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate bar soap and liquid soap from liquid soap from dental clinics for microbial contamination while it was in use.The study period was 2- month, dentists and dental assistants were the participants of the study. A total of 25 handwashing place samples from 12different dental clinics were collected. All the test tube samples of bar soap and liquid soap were all transferred to the microbiology laboratory for microbiological analysis. data was analyzed using a one- sample paired t-test and independent students t-test. 6 different microbial species were identified. The abundance of staphylococcus aureus was highest compared to other microorganisms in both soaps. Further, the mean number of microorganisms was found similar (P > 0.05) in liquid soap. the microbial load of a mixed flora of Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, aerobes, and fungi were found in both the in-use bar soap and liquid soap. Thus, the results indicate that the bar soap ‘in-use’ condition harbors a greater number of microorganisms as compared to that of liquid soap.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130471445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The endodontic treatment of every tooth poses some endodontic challenges which have to be carefully managed by proper clinical and radiographic evaluation before treatment. The teeth with partial or complete obliteration of pulp canal results in endodontic challenge due to difficulty in negotiation of canal orifice. It is always important to take necessary precautions while locating canal orifice to apex, otherwise it will result in iatrogenic errors including perforation and separation of instrument. This present case describes the successful location and management of calcified canal in maxillary central incisor with proper knowledge of internal anatomy, thorough radiographic assessment and canal orifice locating instrument such as c+ files under microscope.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115760814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It increases the chances of attaining more accurate and more reliable objective diagnosis and treatment therapy. The use of stone and plaster study models has been an old technique and an integral part of any dental practice. Study models also are of great importance for record keeping and are needed for research. Storage of these study models is major issue in relation to space and cost. Various different methods have been used for the three-dimensional (3D) assessment and recording of dental study models. The most notable ones include Holography and Moire Topography. Holography was introduced in 1948. It was the work of Leith & Upatnieks that completely changed the face of holography with the advent of the laser beam or laser topography. Holography then allowed the direct measurement of any 3D displacements seen as accurate as a few micrometres. The major drawback or difficulty with this technique is that there is poor quality of recording of all the details of the study/plaster models, particularly this is seen in the incisor or the anterior region of the study model. One particular advantage of holography is that the recorded films can be stored with the patient’s other medical records and this leads to a further step closer towards achieving digital dental study models. However, this cannot truly and totally replace the original plaster models.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126167346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This present research intended to compare the penetrating capacity and to determine sealer/dentin interface among various endodontic sealers. Horizontally sectioned tooth samples were obtained at 3 and 5mm and randomly divided into three groups: Group I - Chemically cured (AH Plus) sealer; Group II - Dual cured (EndoREZ) sealer; Group III – BioCeramic Nano sealer (iRoot SP). All three groups were coated with their respective sealers and obturated using cold lateral compaction technique. The samples were observed using Confocal Microscope for penetrating capacity evaluation and reviewing of sealer/dentin junction at 3 and 5mm depth. The results were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's Post-Hoc method. On depth of penetration evaluation, one-way ANOVA analysis showed Group II exhibited maximum depth of penetration in contrast to Group III and Group I. Group I showed the least average depth of penetration among the other two groups at both 3 and 5mm. On sealer/dentin interface evaluation at 3mm, Group II showed increased interface in comparison with to Group III and Group I. No statistical significance evident among the groups at 5mm. EndoREZ showed maximum depth of penetration in comparison with iRoot SP and AH Plus sealer at both 3 and 5mm. EndoREZ also showed significant sealer/dentin interface at the level of 3mm when compared to other sealers used.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129826757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The act of swishing oil draws out microbes from various parts of the mouth and detoxifies toxins. Thus oil pulling helps to reduce the severity of plaque induced gingivitis. Coconut oil and sesame oil, are naturally occurring product have been credited with antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory biologic activity. These are cost effective, with no side effects. Hence, we aimed Comparative evaluation of different oil pulling agents as an adjunct to full mouth scaling and root planing in plaque induced gingivitis : To evaluate efficacy of oil pulling with coconut oil compared to sesame oil as an adjunct to SRP in subjects with plaque induced gingivitis.: A total of forty patients with plaque induced gingivitis was randomly divided into two groups, Group A: oil pulling with coconut oil as an adjunct to SRP, Group B: oil pulling with sesame oil as an adjunct to SRP. Following initial SRP, oil pulling was performed for 15 days. Clinical measurements included plaque index, gingival index, and simplified oral hygiene index at baseline, 7 day, 15 day, 1 month and 3 month. Microbial analysis was done with MIC using agar well diffusion method.There was significant reduction in plaque and gingival scores from baseline to 3 month in both the groups.Oil pulling with coconut and sesame oil serves as promising antimicrobial agent to treat plaque induced gingivitis. Hence this holds chance to be added to other oral hygiene measures.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117340984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
