The concept encompasses Thriving indicators that represent a dynamic and bi-directional interplay over time between a young person and the developmental contexts, reflecting both a point-in-time status as well as a developmental process. This study aimed to adapt the Thriving in Adolescence Scale to the Portuguese population. A convenience sample consisted of 503 students aged between 13 and 19 years (M=15.92; SD=1.17), with 63% females. Originally developed from the perspective of the formative model, the Thriving Scale includes seven items. The exploration of psychometric properties, using nomological network analysis, showed a multidimensional scale with adequate metric properties. The use of this instrument is suggested for the understanding of successful development in adolescence.","PeriodicalId":37995,"journal":{"name":"Avaliacao Psicologica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48975377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This construct is characterized by high vigor, dedication and absorption in the work. The sample was composed by 423 telemarketing workers and the test/retest methodology with an interval of 1 month was used. Descriptive and reliability analyses were carried out. The instrument presented adequate psychometric qualities (Cronbach ́s Alpha>0.8; CFI>0.95; RMSEA<0.07) and showed good results regarding the Invariance Measurement between longitudinal samples (configural, metric and scalar), in agreement with data from the instrument’s manual. Regarding the temporal stability there was an increase in Cronbach’s Alpha values and Pearson’s correlations were significant and positive. The results showed adequate psychometric quality with temporal stability, however, the need of future studies is emphasized, especially considering that the application was made using only one professional category, from one organization and region.","PeriodicalId":37995,"journal":{"name":"Avaliacao Psicologica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48678617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A adaptacao foi realizada em sete etapas: 1) adaptacao semântica; 2) traducao para Libras; 3) sintese das versoes traduzidas; 4) avaliacao da sintese por juizes; 5) analise semântica da escala em Libras; 6) retrotraducao e 7) analise empirica. Nas quatro primeiras etapas e na retrotraducao os participantes surdos e ouvintes eram adultos, proficientes em Libras e em Portugues, com formacao universitaria. A analise semântica foi desenvolvida por meio de grupo focal com adolescentes surdos. Na ultima etapa, 50 adolescentes surdos, estudantes de escolas publicas do Distrito Federal responderam ao instrumento. A versao adaptada da EMSVA demonstrou boa consistencia interna (λ2=0,89) na amostra de adolescentes surdos.","PeriodicalId":37995,"journal":{"name":"Avaliacao Psicologica","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67155815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies about their effects on the players’ health have been produced since their creation. This study investigated the relations between subjective well-being and game frequency, personality traits and game genres. The questionnaire was completed by 759 participants. Significant differences were found between players and non-players in relation to Life Satisfaction, Positive Affect, Extraversion and Conscientiousness. Correlations between Gaming Hours per Week, Positive Affect, Life Satisfaction and Conscientiousness were weak. Correlations between Game Genre and Personality Traits were weak. Gaming Hours per Week was not a strong predictor of Subjective Well-Being. Other variables should be considered when researching gamers’ well-being. Motivations, passion and basic psychological needs may have a higher impact on well-being variables. The results found in this study go against the idea that the frequency of gaming, individually, is responsible for alterations in well-being scores.","PeriodicalId":37995,"journal":{"name":"Avaliacao Psicologica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47667321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
