Usually, they place them entirely on a project level. In this paper, we study the risk management responsibilities of project managers within 53 software companies. Our goal is to find out what exactly project managers do within pre-project and project activities such as requirements, project and task planning and what risk management responsibilities they have within these activities. Our results show that the responsibility portfolio of project managers varies depending on the degree of their engagement within pre-project and project phases; the broader the project managers’ responsibility portfolio, the broader their risk management responsibility portfolio.","PeriodicalId":379699,"journal":{"name":"2010 Seventh International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116750997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Blood distribution is an important activity within this blood supply chain. If the blood bank is able to deliver blood supply to its respective demand in a timely manner, patients’ lives will be saved. Nowadays, many regional blood banks in Thailand confront with ineffective communication channel and insufficient information to fulfill its obligation. Thus, this leads to an inaccurate blood distribution and a waste of time, which can be harmful to patients with critical conditions. It is our goal to develop a web-based system to manage blood requisition within the blood supply chain. The system was designed to cope with this problem. The main objective is to improve the efficiency of data communication within the supply chain to reduce response time for each blood demand request. We also focused on managing blood inventory at each blood bank effectively. The results have shown that the proposed system helps enhancing the communication among blood partners within the supply chain network. The blood bank staffs are able to fulfill blood demand request in a timely manner.","PeriodicalId":379699,"journal":{"name":"2010 Seventh International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128399789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A perfect BI must help managers not only to speed up his decision making process; but also to increase quality of their decision. But how? One of the main specifications of an effective BI system is providing managers by correct format of information and at the correct time. Critical Success Factors (CSFs) are a kind of significant factors that must be considered in attaining an organization’s goal; and key performance indicators (KPIs) are a type of quantitative and measurable CSF; and one character of an effective BI is reflecting relevant and valid KPIs. This work focuses on recognizing managerial weakness of Iranian industries; based on overall national diagnosing method, weakness of Iranian industries has been recognized and highly recommend to industrial BI analyzers and producers to cover these areas by defining and designing relevant KPIs and dashboard to weakness areas which has importance for managers on BI system; as result of that BI by helping to growth of industry performance can satisfy product oriented company managers.","PeriodicalId":379699,"journal":{"name":"2010 Seventh International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128604583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Answers). Factors identified were classified into three categories namely, social, textual and content-appraisal features. Social features refer to the community aspects of the users involved and are extracted from the explicit user interaction and feedback. Textual features refer to the surface aspects of the text such as answer length, number of unique words etc. The content-appraisal features emphasis on the quality of the content and the relevance judgment used by the asker to select the best answer. The framework built comprises 12 features from the three categories. Based on a randomly selected dataset of 800 question-answer pairs from Yahoo!Answers, social, textual and content-appraisal features were collected. The results of logistic regression showed the significance of content-appraisal features over social and textual features. The implications of these findings for system development and for future research are discussed.","PeriodicalId":379699,"journal":{"name":"2010 Seventh International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126898041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present a capture and replay testing technique which can be employed for different testing purposes: GUI convergence, functional testing and regression testing. The proposed strategy drastically improves, and from different aspects, on standard capture and replay tools. This is done by combining both a model based testing approach with the capture and replay approach and by implementing different automated test oracles. We first model the behavior of the system from the functional specifications or from a trusted version of the system. Tests are then derived from this model to exercise the system in order to ensure correct functional behavior and to cover goal oriented interactions. The case study applies the test strategy on a role-based, multi-user computer game to demonstrate the usefulness and importance of this approach.","PeriodicalId":379699,"journal":{"name":"2010 Seventh International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123985015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, both industry and academia have proposed several new kinds of database technologies (i.e. Native XML database (NXD) systems) as an efficient approach for storing, and processing XML documents. This paper presents a comparative analysis of the two storage models namely text-based and model-based used by Open Source Native XML databases to manage their internal storage mechanisms. Additionally, it specifically examines performance evaluation of Berkeley DB XML, Xindice, eXist, and dbXML from the point of view of handling database query operations. Each product is deployed and evaluated using some benchmark techniques. A number of interesting insights are gained from these experiments and a summary of the strengths and weaknesses of each of these products is presented.","PeriodicalId":379699,"journal":{"name":"2010 Seventh International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114310350","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
