In many power electronics applications, grid-tied systems are developed on the synchronous reference frame (SRF) and make use of the synchronous unit vector coordinates to compute their control references. Usually, the unit vector coordinates are generated from the estimation of the utility phase-angle, which is obtained by means of phase-locked loop (PLL) schemes. Thus, static and dynamic disturbances present in the utility voltage can generate distorted phase-angle signals, and, hence, can affect the quality of the synchronous unit vector coordinates. In this paper, two single-phase SRF-based PLL schemes, which operate under distorted utility voltage conditions, as well as distinct bandwidth PI controllers, are used to generate the current control references of a single-phase shunt active power filter (S-APF). Experimental results based on digital signal controller are used to evaluate the problems that can interfere on the S-APF performance.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122591905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is relatively feasible for low-input-voltage applications for interfacing energy storage elements, such as batteries, and ultracapacitors with the high voltage DC bus in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles. The converter can operates as step-up or step-down voltage in both directions, as well, the turns ratio confers a great voltage gain without using transformer, these give versatility and a lot of applications. Both directions of the power flow is analysed and explained, the DC voltage gain versus the duty cycle has been presented, and the mathematical analysis is validity with a simulation model.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122837719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The inverter is based on Neutral Point Clamped concept composed of five level bridges of three level legs in each inverter phase. This configuration presents as an advantage the synthesis of higher voltages compared to the classical three level structures. Modulation techniques implemented are detailed throughout the paper. The results are displayed and their analysis is performed considering the harmonic distortion and losses in the converter with a deep study of converter heating. The discontinuous modulation produces multilevel equivalent PWM line-to-line output voltages with reduced harmonic distortion and equally distributes the commutations among the switches. A state machine is used to reduce the number of commutations. Using this state machine a nonlinear controller is proposed to make it possible to control the voltage of the flying capacitors. Moreover, it is important to mention that the implementation of the proposed modulation and controller is straightforward, requiring neither a complex hardware nor a high computation effort. Finally, results from a hardware in the loop implemented using the TMS320355 are given to validate the theoretical development.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115612153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The multiple peaks make the classical algorithms of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) ineffective. Thus, Global MPPT (GMPPT) algorithms are needful to track those curves global maximum power point (GMPP). Initially, this paper presents a statistical simulations study of the P-V characteristics of series-parallel arrays for any PS condition in a range of usual temperatures. This study has as contributions a set of GMPP distribution characteristics graphics and a set of P-V curves that exposes as false the continuously decreasing behavior of the power peaks in both sides of the GMPP, since this hypothetical behavior is claimed by several papers in literature to build GMPPT algorithms. Furthermore, as several GMPPT algorithms in literature have been also built and tested for simple, in a second moment this paper presents a comparative of two GMPPT algorithms found in literature that can track the GMPP in any PS condition. For this, simulations and experiments of these algorithms tracking the GMPP of three series-parallel arrays are carried for several severe PS condition in a range of usual temperatures and performance parameters as tracking time and voltage track are evaluated.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114661308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The calculus of vector-based machine model considers an ideal trapezoidal back-EMF waveform, i.e., all control calculation is based on ideal back-EMF, but they are applied to a machine with a real back-EMF waveform, which can be considered a distorted trapezoid. For the sliding controller, this paper shows the use of a sigmoidal function, the hyperbolic tangent, instead of the signal function and uses a proper sliding surface that presents combined integrative action and anti-windup effect, which is applied to the vector-based model of the non-sinusoidal machine. The final system consists in a high performance controller, robust to machine parameters and disturbances, and light in its design as shown by the results. The chosen sliding surface with integrative control action, combined to an anti-windup feature and the torque ripple free vector-based model, give zero steady state speed error, minimizes the system speed output overshoot and ripple.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116125414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
