The simulation of the losses is implemented using the curves and the data provided in the datasheets of semiconductors. To validate this methodology, two modulation strategies are applied to the HB/ANPC inverter, modified PD-PWM and modified CSV-PWM, making the inverter operate with half the switches at low frequency (60 Hz) and the other half in high frequency (1020 Hz). Therefore, they were chosen two types of semiconductor switches. First is explained the operation of the inverter used, then the study of conduction and switching losses on the switches and diodes in antiparallel. The analysis of the conduction losses, is used for voltage at the nominal power curves module operation. Whereas the switching losses is used the energy dissipated curves during the ligament and the shutdown of the switches. These losses are displayed in simulation blocks, which are detailed building blocks implemented through a didactic approach. Finally, a comparison between simulated losses using PSIM® software and mathematical methods are performed. Additionally a comparison between the two modulations is performed indicating which produces less loss.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130266461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As such, it is a complex task to cultivate hops out of its natural habitats, in low latitude outdoor locations. This paper proposes an indoor alternative to cultivating hops on a small scale for brewery applications, employing a two-channel LED lighting system. Its main component is a driver for a specific R+B LED load, which controls the radiant flux of both red (R) and blue (B) LED strings independently. This LED array was developed specifically to meet the hops' lighting needs, and its photo-electro-thermal (PET) model is considered to estimate and control precisely each of the radiant fluxes emitted in real time. The driver and R+B LED array are used inside the greenhouse which guarantees the adequacy of other abiotic parameters for the crop. An experimental routine is proposed and underway for comparative results between the proposed LED versus conventional fluorescent lighting for growing hops under same environmental conditions.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131322636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this scenario, energy storage devices grow in relevance, in order to maintain standard requirements of energy quality. Among several existing methods to store energy, flywheels can deliver a good performance in applications demanding high power density for short periods of time. In this paper, a switched reluctance machine is investigated in order to operate on a flywheel energy storage system, presenting the preliminary results for operation as a motor, during the charging. Mathematical and nonlinear simulation model are presented. A hysteresis current controller and a linear PI speed controller are proposed, and simulation results are presented. Also, an experimental system is described, built to validate the model and performance of proposed controllers.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131346143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the development of power electronics technology, the new wind power systems are able to optimize the extraction of the wind energy. Among the systems configurations, the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is the most used, since it can make the system operate with variable speed, while using a low-cost power converter. However, there are some drawbacks in this configuration. One of the most important is the fact that the machine stator is directly connected to the grid and then, it is influenced by grid parameters variations. In some cases, a control method that aims at blocking the harmonic currents that flow to the machine stator might be essential to its proper functioning. This paper analyzes a stator harmonic current compensation, based on resonant controllers technology. The analysis is carried out in a hardware-in-the-loop configuration using a Texas Instruments microcontroller, and the system plant is simulated with the software PSCAD/EMTDC.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"139 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131608436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In low power DC power systems, the lack of galvanic isolation at the utility grid interface will generate a common-mode (CM) path that will provide a low impedance circuit for DC bus ground faults and electric shock currents. Therefore the mitigation of CM voltages in the microgrid DC bus is important to contribute to a safer environment for users. In this paper, the CM voltage spectrum of DC microgrids with single-phase grid interface will be analysed and solutions to attenuate it will be discussed. A feed-forward active compensation technique is proposed to reduce the magnitude of low frequency components in the CM voltage spectrum. Experimental results show that this technique can attenuate the CM voltage to non-dangerous magnitudes without interfering with the microgrid differential mode behaviour.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131694704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They have the capability of eliminating percutaneous drivelines for the power supply of implanted electronic devices which require too much energy to be powered by implanted batteries only. Based on a simplified AC equivalent circuit diagram calculations for the transfer characteristics of a parallel-parallel compensated coil system are carried out. Furthermore a procedure for the design of the system is presented and additional aspects, especially for implanted electronics are taken into account. Finally, the behavior of the parallel-parallel compensated system is analyzed with a test system setup using a modified Royer Converter and verified by measurements.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126724593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method uses the average value of the active and reactive power delivered by the converter to adjust its output voltage and frequency. The conventional power measurement strategy is often based on the voltage-current product followed by low pass filters to extract the average value. In single-phase systems, the instantaneous power components are oscillating at twice fundamental frequency, then a better filtering performance is required. The elimination of double-frequency oscillation from the calculation of these components are obtained by using the enhaced average power calculation (EAPC). This paper focuses on the implementation of the droop control with the EAPC on single-phase inverters that form a microgrid. Results obtained in an experimental setup are presented and a comparison between the EAPC and the classical method is done.","PeriodicalId":375493,"journal":{"name":"2017 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference (COBEP)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121541308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After determining the switching angles for a range of modulation indexes, a closed-loop control strategy is proposed for regulating the peak current at the output. An alternative feedback strategy for this single-phase system is presented, which match the AC signal of output current to the DC input of the modulator.
