Abstract
This paper proposes an analytical approach for the design procedure for the inductive transfer path of a transcutaneous energy transfer system. They have the capability of eliminating percutaneous drivelines for the power supply of implanted electronic devices which require too much energy to be powered by implanted batteries only. Based on a simplified AC equivalent circuit diagram calculations for the transfer characteristics of a parallel-parallel compensated coil system are carried out. Furthermore a procedure for the design of the system is presented and additional aspects, especially for implanted electronics are taken into account. Finally, the behavior of the parallel-parallel compensated system is analyzed with a test system setup using a modified Royer Converter and verified by measurements.
