Abstract

This paper presents the model and control of a modular current source for feeding the magnetic quadrupole of Sirius, the new synchrotron light laboratory being built in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. A model of n modules series-connected was developed to simulate the output stage of the power supply. Using this model, the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) control technique was implemented in the current source topology. An interleaved switching technique with a phase-shifted carrier was also proposed. Later, the performances of both topologies were compared to a conventional topology.
