Methods: Cross-sectional study with 47 women undergoing chemotherapy in two cancer reference hospitals in São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil, between March 2019 and July 2020. A structured questionnaire was used containing sociodemographic variables and information on menstrual function and symptoms. Bivariate analysis and binary logistic regression were performed to assess the relationship between predictor variables and number of chemotherapy cycles. Results: Mean age was 31.71 years, and amenorrhea and hot flushes were the most frequent symptoms, however, unrelated to the number of chemotherapy cycles. There was no association between the presence of climacteric effects and the type of chemotherapy (p=0.15). Conclusion: The results reaffirmed that chemotherapy can cause climacteric symptoms, thus emphasizing the need for measures to alleviate symptoms in patients facing this problem.","PeriodicalId":37464,"journal":{"name":"Cogitare Enfermagem","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134882700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective study, carried out at a university hospital in the Midwest of Brazil. After the implementation of the Pediatric Patient Classification System, we compiled data from the classifications of the level of care complexity (N=4,639) among patients (n=608) admitted from January to December 2019. Descriptive statistical analysis was employed, including proprietary methodology for staff sizing. Results: there was a prevalence of intermediate care patients. According to the staff dimensioning, there was a surplus (+10) of mid-level workers, and the projected number of nurses (six) was compatible with the available number. Conclusion: the strategic implementation/employment of the Patient Classification System was indispensable for the pediatric nursing staffing forecast, considering that the staffing surplus found should be appreciated with caution.","PeriodicalId":37464,"journal":{"name":"Cogitare Enfermagem","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67159810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: social-historical study with a qualitative approach. Data collection occurred between March and November 2017. The theory of Claude Dubar was used as a theoretical reference. Eleven interviews were conducted, which were analyzed by the technique of Discourse Analysis. Results: two categories emerged. The first highlighted the articulation process, the practice of care, and the Teaching-Assistance Integration program, and addressed aspects related to power and the model-reference. The second listed the role of the teacher/manager and emphasized issues related to recognition and respect. Data analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Profile of children in intensive care (62.5%); stage 1 pressure ulcers (35.9%); and use of simple cover (37.5%). Of the total cases, 25% by medical device use. Consultations were related to stage 3 injury (p=0.027). Nursing diagnosis risk of pressure ulcer was identified in 48.4% of cases, while the Braden/Braden Q scale was identified in 78.1%. Using as descriptors: Troponin; COVID-19; Cardiovascular System. Results: 23 studies revealed cardiac alterations in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 by examining the cardio specific biomarker troponin, in addition to relating it to high mortality rates. Studies have shown a great relationship between acute myocardial injury, evidenced by elevated troponin, and a worse outcome during hospitalization. Conclusion: Cardiovascular changes were mapped in patients hospitalized with COVID -19 who progressed to severe cases of the disease.
