As a prototype a twin-engine turboprop aircraft is considered. The engines for such aircrafts must have the power to ensure a short take off, but at cruise speed the engine power is excessive which leads to increased fuel consumption. The hybrid propulsion system considered in the paper consists of two propellers directly driven by two electric motors with maximum power of 550 kW each. The electric power is provided by a power unit that includes batteries and one or two turboshaft engine rotating generators. At take-off the electric motors are supplied by batteries and generators simultaneously. Gas-turbine generators should provide enough power for cruise flight and batteries charging at minimal fuel consumption. The power of each generator at the ground for two-generator case should be 550 hp each, and for one-generator case should be 1100 hp. The numerical model uses predictions for year 2020, 2025 and 2030 of the characteristics for gas turbine, electric generator, electric motor, the control system, and batteries. The modelling of typical airplane flight cycle with hybrid propulsion system characteristics predicted for 2025-2030 time period shows 1–3% increase in fuel efficiency for two-generator case. For the same period, the one-generator case hybrid propulsion system will have less weight and 9–10% fuel consumption decrease. All of these lead to 16% airplane range increase in comparison with the traditional propulsion system.","PeriodicalId":371743,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Electrotechnical Complexes and Systems (ICOECS)","volume":"8 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123706486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many methods have been proposed for determining the frequency, but most of them are highly sensitive to transients and noise, and also have insufficient time resolution. Thus, it is necessary to develop an algorithm for determining the frequency with the minimum error regardless of the transients and noise presence, and in order to study the electromechanical transients in more detail, it is necessary to perform measurements “inside” the industrial frequency period. The methods of digital signal processing were used: sliding parabolas, sliding segments, data approximation by the least squares method. All calculations were made using MATLAB. An algorithm was developed for determining the synchronous frequency based on the synchrophasor data using characteristic points: phase intersections with zero, phase extrema and phase intersections. The computational delay of the developed algorithm is 1.66 ms, which allows its use in real-time calculations. It was determined that during transient the extremum bias significantly affects the accuracy of frequency determination. The algorithm that considers the intersection of phases with zero and the intersection of phases has a higher computational stability and a smaller deviation of the calculated frequency from the given one.","PeriodicalId":371743,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Electrotechnical Complexes and Systems (ICOECS)","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114445487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This means that the currents and MDS of the primary and secondary windings are balanced in each phase separately and the influence of one phase on the other is absent. This gives the opportunity to calculate the currents of SC without conversion of the triangle into a star. In this case, the calculation is simplified and becomes more obvious. When determining the short-circuit resistance to the phase of the transformer with the connection of the windings Y/D, it is logically more reasonable and more clearly from a physical point of view to use a formula that includes not linear but phase voltages.","PeriodicalId":371743,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Electrotechnical Complexes and Systems (ICOECS)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125890679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the features of the machine design considered is the high Length/Diameter (L/D) ratio; this can represent a further challenge when performing the thermal design; indeed the heat dissipation from the stator core can represent an issue. The aim of this work is to identify an effective cooling configuration capable of enhancing the cooling of the stator and maintaining the operating temperature of the whole machine within the allowable limits. In this paper CFD analyses were therefore used to assess the thermal capability of several cooling arrangements; numerical results of each case are presented and compared. In particular an alternative cooling option, consisting in the implementation of heat pipes between the machine's stator teeth, was considered. Due to their simple structure and high heat transfer coefficients, heat pipes are not invasive but at the same time can dissipate large amount of heat. CFD results show how a significant temperature drop of the machine's core can be achieved.","PeriodicalId":371743,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference on Electrotechnical Complexes and Systems (ICOECS)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124152402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method leading to the investigation of this problem is evaluation of external magnetic field parameters, which gives an opportunity to detect electrical faults of an automotive alternator. It was established that the magnitude of the external magnetic field measured by the Hall sensor is sensitive to the technical condition of the generator. By analyzing the distribution of the axial component of the external magnetic field, the optimal point on the surface of the generator is selected, which ensures the uniqueness of the diagnostic parameter. An algorithm for recognizing electrical faults based on the magnitude of an external magnetic field is developed.
