Politicians have the opportunity to appeal to both the international community and their compatriots, gain recognition, demonstrate their leadership and represent their country in the best possible way via speeches. Translation of political speeches is considered to be one of the most complicated types of translation, which is the area of increased linguistic responsibility. Translation transformations, which are defined as certain structural or semantic changes that are the result of lexical and grammatical differences in languages, are used to achieve translation equivalence (translation adequacy) despite the differences in the formal and semantic systems of two languages. The research is aimed at examining the peculiarities of political speeches and difficulties arising in the process of their rendering into Ukrainian. This paper consists of six main sections. The first is an introduction to the study. The second examines the definition and features of political speeches given by national and foreign scientists. The third section explains the methodology used in the study and the data selection process. In the course of analysis, the existing scientific literature concerning the topic at hand providing valid grounds for the practical part of the work has been analyzed and grammatical translation transformation examples have been selected and examined. The research data was taken from the website of the US Embassy in Ukraine. Thereafter the focus shifts to challenges the students face in translation of political speeches and highlights the grammatical transformations classification that constituted the theoretical basis of the research. The fifth section is devoted to analyzing the data and the last section summarizes the findings of the study.","PeriodicalId":36953,"journal":{"name":"Theoria et Historia Scientiarum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48123997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Єдиним цілим постають у його вченні Істинна людина і Христос. Шлях відкриття у власному серці «образу Божого» обирається мислителем як спасіння людства глубокою вірою, в якій розмежо-вується дотримання «зовнішніх» обрядів та справжня віра.Центральною куль-турно-філософською універсалією вчення Сковороди є «філософія серця», яка обертається в авторській концептосфері та перегукується з концептом «веселія серця» й образом «округленості» як «омріяного щастя»,пов’язаного з глибокою філософською ідеєю «сродності праці»,на якій побудовано сковородинівський антиклерикалізм. Спектр світоглядних орієнтацій Г. Сковороди є неймовірно широким, що дозволяє вважати його релігійним вільнодумцем. Філософ відходить від орто-доксального християнства, невдовольняється догматизмом і авторитаризмом релігії й прагне раціоналістично структурувати основні положення християн-ського віровчення, дати їм власне морально-етичне витлумачення, розглянути символічний зміст та образи біблійних оповідей. Своє особисте життя філософ мислив як життя мудреця-вчителя, який постійно перебуває у спілкуванні зв’язках з Богом.Важливо,що за Сковородою зміст молитви – це подяка Богові за те, що Він потрібне зробив неважким, а важке зробив непотрібним. It is pointed out that the linguistic parameters of the text include its in-tegrity, coherence, and boundary structuring, while psycholinguistic definitions focus on emotions and creativity of the sender and addressee. The psychological aspects and stages of text creation are analyzed with reference to knowledge of its background and linguistic presupposition. The contribution of Ukrainian and foreign studies to the development of the psycholinguistic foundations of the text are discussed on the basis of examples from Ukrainian literature. It is proved that the interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of the text is crucial for text study; the peculiarities of text creation are characterized through the opposition “generation – perception”, as well as through the expression of the linguistic personality of its ego in the text. The positive and negative impact of the text on the recipient is highlighted as well as it gives up-to-date interpretation of such notions as pathological text, apperception, understanding, interpretational variability of the text. The phenomenon of linguistic and psycho-accentuation is being analyzed on the basis of the texts of Ukrainian distinguished writers (P. Kulish, O. Kobylyanska, I. Ogienko, and others). The author characterizes the influence of linguistic and extralinguistic factors on increasing psycholinguistic accentuation.","PeriodicalId":36953,"journal":{"name":"Theoria et Historia Scientiarum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47793260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a literature review, we distinguish the following factors that have been argued to influence sign order: (a) diagrammatic iconicity, (b) manipulation vs. construction events, (c) reversibility, (d) most common word order of L1, (e) the semiotic system (gesture, depiction) used, and (f) a putative “natural” Agent–Patient–Act order. To test the role of these factors, we conducted a study where Swedish participants observed events that varied with respect to reversibility and construction/manipulation status, and then had to communicate them to an addressee using gestures for half the stimuli. For the other half, they used sequences of simple drawings of the event participants and the action. The results showed the huge influence of the semiotic system (e) on sign order. There was a role of reversibility (c) only when gestures were used, while L1 word order (d) only had an effect when sequences of pictures were used. The “ontological status” of the Patient (b) was shown to affect the representations in both semiotic systems but was much stronger for gestures. Even the two most general factors (a) and (f) where shown to be sensitive to the type of semiotic system. Future studies of how such cognitive and semiotic determinants interact are needed to fully understand the phenomenon of sign order preference.","PeriodicalId":36953,"journal":{"name":"Theoria et Historia Scientiarum","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42572797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, I analyze the theoretical mistakes of such approach, that ignoring structural body transformation does not allow the application of evolutionary methods to the study of functions. Here I propose a naturalistic approach, based on Evo-Devo perspective, which considers biological constraints as the necessary “mechanical trigger” upon which language function could have evolved. This framework, through the examination of the comparative study of the peripheral and central structures of vocal articulation, allows us to both avoid functional leap in language evolution and at the same time, guarantee species-specificity of language.","PeriodicalId":36953,"journal":{"name":"Theoria et Historia Scientiarum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47786838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some substantial insights into this topic originate in gesture and sign studies. Research by Goldin-Meadow et al. (2008) has inspired scientists to use the silent gesture paradigm, which requires participants to narrate events using their hands. The results of the study revealed that participants tended to produce SOV word order of a transitive event, regardless of the syntax of their native language. The finding was corroborated to a degree in later studies; however, some of them shed more light on the issue (Gibson et al., 2013; Hall et al., 2013; Sandler et al., 2005). The aim of our study is to test whether the SOV order is dominant when participants communicate transitive events (verbs) with whole-body pantomime.","PeriodicalId":36953,"journal":{"name":"Theoria et Historia Scientiarum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43830961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

I provide data on the following research topics: 1) Cross-species comparative approach to the anatomical principles governing emotional vocal production. 2) Analysis of acoustic parameters conveying emotional arousal and valence through voice modulation across human cultures and a wide variety of vocalizing nonhuman animals. On this regard, I will describe the evolutionary advantage of being able to identify emotional content in both heterospecific and conspecific vocalizations. 3) The relative salience of emotional voice modulation and verbal content in emotional meaning processing, as an indicator of the biological role of voice modulation in the emergence of language. Finally, I propose that co-evolutionary dynamics between genetic transmission of the cognitive mechanisms underpinning language and socio-cultural transmission of vocal behaviors are responsible for the emergence of the abilities involved in language.","PeriodicalId":36953,"journal":{"name":"Theoria et Historia Scientiarum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48820792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is suggested that although this problem has been addressed by multiple researchers, it remains a persistent topic of discussion and an important meta-theoretical theme in the field of language evolution. To support this claim, the paper first provides a brief overview of the continuity debate by discussing examples of prominent research work in comparative communication and cognition. It further suggests that the problem of continuity can be partly resolved by focusing on cognitive and behavioural trait distribution both between and within species. Specifically, it is proposed that conceptualising given traits as habitual, rather than human-unique, is informative for understanding evolutionary processes shaping human communicative abilities. Finally, the paper suggests that the debate on continuity would benefit from being placed in a broader framework of evolution of phenotypic plasticity and the role of cognition and behavior in evolutionary processes.","PeriodicalId":36953,"journal":{"name":"Theoria et Historia Scientiarum","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49018499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
