The wide use of abbreviations in general texts, including web data and newswire data, requires us to process and extract the abbreviation definition. In this paper, we propose an abbreviation definition identification algorithm, which employs a variety of rules and incorporates shallow parsing of the text to identify the most probable abbreviation definition from general texts. The performance of our system was tested with data set provided by 2012 NIST1 TAC-KBP2, obtaining a performance of 94.2% recall and 95.5% precision.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133153535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sometimes bags with some special conditions can be drawn from a given set. Under these situations, is possible to define some algebraic structures on the given set.The present paper considers the situation when some bags with special conditions are drawn from a set, which, under a given operation, forms a group. Consequently, it demonstrates how an existing group structure defined on a given set can induce special structures on some bags drawn from this set. Hence, the notions of induced B-groups, induced abelian B-groups, and induced semi B-groups are introduced and discussed. Further, some characteristics of B-groups, abelian B-groups, and semi B-Groups are studied.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115227537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ground-based hyperspectral datasets were obtained under a wide range of plant and environmental conditions in Jilin using Analytical Spectral Devices(ASD) spectroradiometers, and canopy chlorophyll content in canopy were measured by Soil and Plant Analyzer Development(SPAD)-502. The objective of this study is to determine the most suitable input variables to estimate the canopy chlorophyll content by Random Forest model. On the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the spectral data, the RF model is explored to provide an accurate and robust assessment of Canopy Chlorophyll Content(CCC). The correlation coefficient (R2) of the second RF model between the measured chlorophyll content and the predicated chlorophyll content is 0.82, and the root mean square error (RMSE) is 12.5738, which is better than the first RF model and the other indexes.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"171 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115643315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional destination prediction work mostly focus on mining mobility patterns from frequently been locations. However, location transition patterns are not regular enough to provide favorable predicting results. Meanwhile, it could only be used when a user has enough movements in a location. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical model which predict what to do first and where to go in next. We first demonstrate that activity transitions are more regular than location transitions. Then we employ a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based predicting approach which takes user's activity transition into account. We introduce a supervised way to learn parameters for HMM. Experimental results show that hierarchical prediction scheme could improve accuracy of pre-destination. Hierarchical model could perform well in some situations that traditional methods are of poor accuracy.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116102919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, to press the button requires the person needing help to touch the phone physically, which causes infeasibilities in practice: 1) it is hard for someone unfamiliar with the environment to locate an emergency phone quickly, and 2) even if the person knows where the phone is, she/he has to run a certain distance to reach it. Therefore, if an emergency phone is equipped with a sensor which can monitor special events such as a scream for help or a gun shooting, its capability of security surveillance will be increased tremendously. In this paper, we present a Special Sound Detection (SSD) algorithm we have successfully built and prototyped. The prototype is robust and yet simple to implement. The accuracy of detecting screams within a distance of 100 feet is 98.6%. For gunshots within 500 meters, the accuracy is 99.1%. The design of the algorithm is highly modular. It can be extended to detect other types of special sounds by adding relevant training samples.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"06 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115250403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An automated nuclei segmentation and quantification in Immunohistologically stained images have remained a challenging task. Previous methods used have shown an oversight in the segmentation and counting of the two different types of stained nuclei within the same image (i.e. positive brown stained nuclei and negative blue stained nuclei). Our exclusive method addresses this issue by producing an automated means for the segmentation and counting of nuclei based on the monochromatic characteristics of the different types of stained nuclei objects. Ultimately this could aid pathologists towards more accurate and time efficient diagnosis by considering the affects of protein antibodies inside the nuclei. Our experimental work has proven to produce promising results. This was through the appropriate allocation, segmentation and counting of nuclear contents inside Colonic Cancer of Immunohistologically stained images.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115381844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The complexity and uncertainty of the urban rail transit operating system make fuzzy logic method become an efficient tool to deal with the security information. The paper attempts to combine fuzzy logic based information process method with the security region method to solve the security problems in urban rail transit system. Based on the research of information aggregation, fuzzy decision making, and the current results of security region research, the paper proposes a new solution to the security region control and its management. The main points include: the security region information collection, information fusion and aggregation methods with multiple source of the rail transit security regions, fuzzy logic based the urban rail transit security region decision and control, and the simulation of these theoretical models. It will provide theoretical support for the urban rail transit security region decision and control, and also promote the management level of the Chinese urban rail transit operating system.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122025861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For representing a fuzzy set by a crisp value, the weight of importance with respect to members in a fuzzy set with membership levels should be considered. The weighted possibilistic mean (WPM), weighted possibilistic variance (WPV) and the weighted distance between fuzzy numbers have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a general possibilistic mean control chart in view of the possibility theory using the WPM, WPV and the weighted distance.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"328 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122497874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, it establishes an applicable model for fault diagnosis. The model can control the quantity of the hypothesis which is built through the arithmetic by selecting a corresponding parsimonious principle. The parsimonious principle results in adjusting contradiction dynamically between precision and efficiency during fault diagnosis, whose purpose is to make the model satisfy different diagnosis requirements.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122717896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the target satellites should be analyzed frequently in order to monitor their health. Though the approach based on detecting satellite signals is the most reliable and widely applied, it has the disadvantages of heavy workload, long period, low efficiency and poor real-time capability. To solve this problem, this paper presents an approach to recognize constellation satellites' usability automatically by computer using clustering. According to the relationship between satellite's usability and its orbit characteristics, using the latest orbit parameters downloaded from the internet, this approach recognizes the satellites according to their differences in orbit characteristics. This approach has high speed and little manual intervention, which can be used to all the constellations that follow a certain orbit rule, such as Iridium, Globalstar, GPS and so on. Take Iridium for example, the correct rate is 80.44%.","PeriodicalId":368964,"journal":{"name":"2013 10th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126067004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
