PQ monitoring is getting importance for the customers even for the more sensitive modern equipment. Up today, the control and supervision of an industrial process has mainly been focused on the electrical protection, and little attention has been paid to the quality of the electrical supplies. Nowadays, measurement and communication systems have advanced to enable the installation of web-based sensors within a PQ assessment scenario. In this perspective, we propose a measurement instrument easy to use, chip, flexible, and with advanced world wide web capability. This paper also shows the first releases of prototypes already realised.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"891 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116377732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are still many issues due to cost effectiveness of this solution, but also related to the lack of experience on the management of these devices and on their effects on the distribution network. One particular issue concerns the correlation between storage position/size and the specific objective to be achieved in supporting the operation of distribution networks. To investigate this relationship, the paper proposes a method based on Monte Carlo procedure, designed in order to be suitably integrated in network planning and operation tools. In fact, the investigated methodology can be used by DSOs or aggregators to determine the best allocation of storages systems, but it also support the study of the interactions between the energy storage and the distribution networks services.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114473423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, a demonstration 4D platform and its main components are presented by highlighting both their architectural and technological main features. The transport of control signals to the actuators is a crucial point, because one must consider both current standards and possible future developments. Therefore, we identified two strategies for data transport in local systems, first using a single file and then using multiple separate files, and we have analyzed three transmission modes for ancillary data in communication networks in order to select the most appropriate for our application. To encode sensory effects data related to control signals we propose the use of MPEG-V standard.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133619829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By driving the actuator with a given voltage, a known force can be applied to a microsample under test by using a silicon probe tip, while the obtained displacement is measured. This allows to extract the mechanical properties of the microsample entirely on chip, and to derive its force-displacement curve without external equipment. The proposed device is intended for mechanobiology experiments, where the microsample is made of biological tissues or cells. The device generates a force in the order of few micronewtons and a maximum displacement of 1.8 μm can be measured.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124801930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, prosodie features have been found to carry information about subjects' depression severity as well as subjects' status in bipolar disorders. In such applications, the subjects have to be monitored continuously, in naturalistic scenarios and not only in the clinical setting. For this reason, it is important to test the robustness of feature extraction approaches against noise as well as to assess their performances as applied to running speech. In this work, the performance of an algorithm designed to estimate speech features from running speech are evaluated on a speech database, containing an associated electroglottographic signal. The algorithm consists of an automatic segmentation step, to detect voiced segments at syllable level, and a speech feature estimation step based on a spectral matching approach. Relevant parameters pertaining voiced segments identification are optimized. The performance of the algorithm in estimating speech features is tested against different noise sources. The chosen speech features are those related to fundamental frequency and its variability, as jitter and standard deviation estimated at syllables level. The results show the good performance of the algorithm in estimating fundamental frequency related features also in noisy environments. Preliminary results on bipolar patients, recorded in different mood states, are shown. Pairwise statistical comparison between different mood states revealed significant differences in fundamental frequency and jitter. A significant effect of the speech task performed by the subjects is observed.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122545201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We focus on rail and metro transport, proposing a multidimensional constrained optimisation model to carry out a sensitivity analysis for evaluating the effectiveness of recovery solutions in the case of disturbed operations. Indeed, after the occurrence of a disturbance or disruption, appropriate intervention strategies have to be implemented in order to address the problem and re-establish ordinary daily service conditions as rapidly as possible. The paper specifically aims to improve the traditional deterministic framework, introducing a stochastic disturbance on train performances and delays, in order to simulate operations as closely as possible to reality, with an ad-hoc objective function to be minimised. An application on a real metro line in Naples (Italy) is provided, showing the benefits of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122653706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
