In particular we demonstrate and experimentally prove the existence of this special type of resonances in the visible transmission spectrum of a very thin two-dimensional photonic crystal slab. For this purpose, we design and fabricate a square lattice array of holes in silicon nitride. Numerical simulations show that an extremely large field enhancement factor large as 700 times the amplitude of the incident wave, connected with high Q-factor resonances. The connection with the bound states in continuum phenomenon is highlighted.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127978229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

High voltage alternating current (HVAC) cables are an interesting solution for smaller power ratings and distances up to 120 km, due to lower capital costs and absence of converting stations, if compared to HVDC links. However the design of terminal stations of HVAC interconnections must account for some specific issues, such as switching equipment performance limits, reactive power compensation and insulation coordination. The paper deals with two recent examples of HVAC submarine link, i.e. the Malta-Sicily and Capri-Italy interconnectors, focusing on terminal substation design and testing.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115467280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Actually, they usually contain high levels of innovation, but often lack entrepreneurial orientation and managerial competences. Therefore, we put forward the idea that spin-off companies need further attention from the managerial point of view, in order to unveil their full potential as regards the social and economic development contribution. After a short review of the scientific literature of strategic management and entrepreneurship, we discuss about the importance of the innovation ecosystems and of the Universities in particular in order to unveil and actively exploit the entrepreneurial potential of the academic researchers, and finally disclose some positive effects in terms of sustainable development. We finally propose a multi-dimensional taxonomy of the academic spin-off companies. After refining and testing it, researchers and practitioners might improve their capability to understand in depth this kind of ventures and their contribution to the sustainable development and growth.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114578548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design of a LS can greatly benefit from the adoption of recent advanced technologies, such as the Ultra-Thin Box and Body Fully-Depleted Silicon On Insulator (UTBB FDSOI) technology that has emerged as an attractive alternative to the traditional bulk CMOS. The UTBB FDSOI technology provides a group of device and architectural techniques suitable to realize a wide threshold voltage (Vth) tuning, such as flip well, poly biasing and body biasing. In this paper, the synergistic adoption of such knobs is investigated in the design of low-power high-performance LSs. A new single-well layout strategy is proposed to smartly realize an aggressive forward body biasing in the converting stage of the LS. In conjunction with poly biasing, the proposed strategy reduces the energy per cycle and the leakage of up to 35.3% and 70.4%, respectively. Moreover, the minimum input voltage that the LS can correctly up-convert is also improved.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130923737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Foam sclerotherapy is an attractive alternative treatment since the results are more effective than when liquid sclerosants are used, as well as less invasive and less expensive than surgery. However, the existence of various protocols for making the foam is the main limit to its use in the clinical environment. The aim of the present article is to define a standard and automated technique in the production of sterile foam through the use of acoustic cavitation induced by ultrasound. Our experimental result demonstrates the possibility of producing a foam free of contaminant agents from a pure liquid drug by applying an acoustic field generated by a PZT-4 transducer.","PeriodicalId":368119,"journal":{"name":"2015 AEIT International Annual Conference (AEIT)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132633293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
