In the dedication to Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, which opens the first part of the book about the ecclesiastical trial of Patriarch Nicon, addressing the Russian ruler, the metropolitan used the metaphors “savior”, “deliverer”, “liberator”, “lover of God” and “lover of Christ” instead of a name. This rhetorical figure, well known in Russian written culture since ancient times, goes back to the Byzantine methods of decorating speech. In an effort to reveal the content of new connotations in the name Aleksei, which arose in the middle of the 17th century in connection with the idea of the liberation mission of Alexei Mikhailovich in the Christian East, actively exploited by the Greeks, Ligarides broke the name into letters, “building up” each to a word. The content of the resulting phrase corresponded to the prophetic moods of our time. This method, outwardly similar to the alphabetic acrostic, was not familiar to Russian baroque culture, which knew many “games” with letters and words. This principle of revealing the hidden meaning of a word did not take root in the Orthodox tradition, where a proper name determined the fate of a person and had a sacred meaning that did not need to be deciphered element by element and understood as a whole, in contrast to the many meanings obtained by manipulating letters and juggling words.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69317741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The composition of the extended triolet “Asia” is a descriptive picture of the East. The genre supports the meditativeness and emphasized nominative nature of the poems, which don’t have even a single verb (there is only a single gerund “murmuring”). The non-linearity of the lyrical plot of the poem, “reversed moves, radial features, centrifugal and centripetal” (Yu. N. Chumakov) are analyzed. The initially given symmetry of Lipskerov’s 14-line triolet with the refrains removed from each other turns into asymmetry: two verses from the second part are eliminated, repetitions become an ornament framing the lyrical plot. At the same time, they intrude into the main course of the narrative, weaving their own line into it. An intermedial analogy of triolet colouristics with V. Vereshchagin’s Turkestan paintings is carried out. On Vereshchagin’s oriental canvases, and especially in his “Turkestan Series”, as in Lipskerov’s poem, the leading colours are yellow (desert, soil, floor), various shades of pink and blue (sky, temples, palaces, clothing details, etc.). These colours become the symbols of Turkestan.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69317763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our source data are constructions with German modal verbs and their Russian translation models containing an evaluative component. Evaluative lexical units appear in translation mainly in place of the German verb sollen, which expresses a deontic modality based on the idea of a “right” course of events. In the Russian translation, the emphasis shifts to ‘good’, and the meaning ‘should’ is present in the form of an implicature, more or less conventionalized; that is why modal words can be translated by evaluative ones. We also consider the mechanisms of semantic derivation that ensure the appearance of units with evaluative semantics in translation in place of other modal verbs.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69316677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Folk hagiography often associates with the name of St. Nicholas the Miracle-Worker. The article presents the results of a study of Siberian texts of such legends (including folk prose plots not taken into account by the indexes) in comparison with variants of similar narratives of the European territory of historical Russia. It was found that, along with the plot forms common to the East Slavic tradition, Siberian texts contain special versions of this plot, which are the result of contamination and mixing of folklore forms in the conditions of Siberian existence. Unknown in the texts of other territories, the contaminated versions of the Siberian stories about the miraculous threshing acquire special interest against the background of the fact that the Siberian versions of Russian fairy tales, as researchers have established, generally have a strong tendency to plot contamination and the complexity of the stories. Previously, these processes were traced on the material of fairy tales (Matveeva, 1990) and novelistic tales (Kuznetsova, 2019). The Siberian variants of contaminated plot forms of legendary fairy tales presented in the article make it possible to consider contamination as an increasingly universal creative device in Siberian storytelling.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69317749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two types of stories have been identified in the performing tradition – from the ritual specialist and the bearer of the tradition. The mythological picture in both types of stories complement each other, in them the general narrative model characteristic of shamanic narratives is preserved. It is revealed that shamanic narratives combine features of various genres of non-narrative prose: oral narrative, myth and mythological narrative, legend and legend, which indicates the archaic syncretism of folklore consciousness. In the structure of shamanic narratives, the differentiating features characteristic of a particular genre of non-narrative prose are described in detail and described. In shamanic narratives, the presence of shamanic algysh-chants is revealed; their pragmatic functions are determined; their thematic diversity is revealed.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69317636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Alcohol can create the illusion of easily overcoming any obstacles and difficulties. Since the main enemy of man in the North is cold, the mythology of alcoholic “warming” is especially relevant for polar explorers. Within the framework of the Soviet Arctic utopia, it is important to take alcohol beyond commodity-money relations. In the North, the strangest transmutations of matter become reality. The Arctic is a kind of anti-world, where everything turns into its opposite. For example, the participants of the expedition “North Pole – 1” had to distill cognac into alcohol.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69318373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Interpretation of a signifier is considered as an act of its predictive recoding, the result of which is the phonetic appearance of the word perceived by the addressee. Based on the position that language and speech are two sides of speech activity, the relationship between which can be described by relations of predictive interpretation, the article formulates the idea of the presence of interpretative – predictive algorithms for encoding the signifier in the language. Reduction and assimilation are con-sidered as such algorithms. The interpretation of these processes in modern linguistics is reduced to the statement of positional changes in phonemes in the speech flow. The positional principle in this approach becomes a sound law. Howevr, the law is a statement of regularity, but not an explanation of why this happens. The paper substantiates that these processes are the result of a substantial interpretation inherent in language as a means of communication.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69315518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A distance between a narrator and a story world that constitutes a narrative is studied in regard to a conception of screenplay not as an autonomous literary work but as a series of texts corresponding to various stages of preparation for a film shooting (in our case a libretto, a literary script and a shooting script). The comparison of the literary script and the shooting script of the film “The Heir to Genghis Khan” written respectively by Osip Brik and Vsevolod Pudovkin reveals the shift of the narrative distance, that determined the way the events were shown. During the transition from the literary script to the shooting script the narrative distance is decreased due to the director’s idea on the film and also due the industrial context of filmmaking.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69316778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The works were screened by Igor Talankin and Evgenii Shiffers. According to the author of the research, it is these films that define meaning-making mechanisms of Berggolts’s creative activity. A night dream mode of film narration is determinant for I. Talankin’s Day Stars; the search for the form, which is able to communicate the book structure as well as a whimsical game of human memory, comes to the fore. The film making became a testing site for Evgenii Shiffers where his religious and philosophical ideas were performed. The film Pervorossiyane is not just setting an event line in terms of visual patterns but the narrative poem reproduced via a film and thought solely in a religious and drama mystery light.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69316813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper includes the comparison of its dictionary definitions, etymological data and interpretation in terms of emotional evaluation. Special attention is paid to the processes of conceptualisation of emotional evaluation by means of the extension of the adjective denotation sphere, denotative shift from perceptible objects to invisible objects, from form to content. As a result, the adjective radostny receives intellectual and aesthetic shades of meaning. The denotative shift referring to negative denotation modifies the dominant category feature – a positive evaluation component. It leads to the weakening and neutralization of the positive evaluation. The analysis of use, as applied to the examples in the Russian National Corpus, verifies the basic characteristics of emotional evaluation (subjectivity and uncertainty) and helps to identify its important characteristics (communicativeness, efficiency, attractiveness). The study takes into account the forms of objectification of radostny evaluation, time factor and typical genres.","PeriodicalId":36800,"journal":{"name":"Kritika i Semiotika","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69314829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
