The primary part of the transportation system consists of multiple individually excited three-phase stator segments with an iron core and fractional slot concentrated windings. The secondary part is a number of movers with finite length permanent magnet way that move freely along the movement track. The parallel and serial winding connections of elementary machines composing the stator segment are considered in the paper. Two prototypes of transportation systems having a dual elementary machine segment were studied. Both FEM simulation and experimental results demonstrate that compared to the parallel connection the serial connection of windings provides sufficient reduction in thrust ripple and power losses, when the finite-length secondary part moves between the subsequent modules. Due to the uneven back-EMF distribution, the parallel connection of elementary machines is not recommended for such systems.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125608217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Finite element method based thermal modelling, consisting of a nonphysical model, is improved by means of statistical correlations to obtain accurate temperature estimates in response to dynamic boundary conditions, in contrast to the classical thermal models which are very dependent on the boundary conditions such as Cauer and Foster network, thus allowing it application for digital twinning and device failure reporting. The dynamic thermal model has been developed for a TO-247 IGBT device and, later, benchmarked and verified against measurements obtained from an experimental platform, composed of three IGBT half-bridge mounted on a single heatsink with forced air cooling.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125958608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increase of the UAS will pose a significant safety risk to not only buildings and property but to the public and general air travel. This increase will undoubtedly cause a significant strain on Air Traffic Control (ATC) system and will lead to UAS not being used to their full potential. The use of autonomous UAS will increase over the coming years, and a reliable system of Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) will be needed both for effective safety and reliability. Currently, there is no real framework in place to accommodate low level UAS in urban airspace. This research aims to discover the current state of the art technologies and innovations developed to create a workable UTM framework giving an overview of the various methods available to analyse the likelihood of a UTM being developed. The findings of the paper show that there is a definitive need for such a system to be developed and maintained if UAVs are to be incorporated into everyday life.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128844302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herewith, the product range is expanding constantly and the quality requirements are constantly growing. The qualitative characteristics of future products largely depend on the properties of a tension control system. In its turn, the right choice of a choice of a tensioner determines the system operation. Up to now, when choosing the tensioner and the tensioner electric drive, they didn't consider the specific operation aspects of the winding equipment and the wound product. However, the use of modern controls in winding equipment raised questions about the rational choice of a tensioner. It requires the classification of the tensioners used when winding, their mathematical description and the development of a method for choosing a tensioner for winding the product of a wet tape.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114929965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is already not enough to have only a virtual representation of the object and run it independently from the physical object. The Digital Twin (DT) aspect indicates a connection between the physical object and the corresponding virtual twin established by generating real-time data using sensors. The DT represents physical object operation throughout its life cycle, making it an essential tool for improving that object's reliability. In this paper, an application of the DT service unit for AC motor stator inter-turn short circuit fault detection is presented. According to real-time measurements, Linux Robot Operation System (ROS) simulates AC electrical machine-specific behavior in case of unbalanced stator currents and notify about possible fault appearance and propagation. Fault, such as discussed in the paper (AC machine stator inter-turn) is considered one of the most prevalent possible electrical motor failure.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126954442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method as its conventional form is based on the approximation of the system transition function, that is, its step response in the input action, in accordance with the mathematical apparatus of real interpolation technique. The mathematical model of the system is identified in the form of a transfer function. When using the conventional identification method, there is the problem of determining the optimal form of identified transfer function, sufficient for description of the system. Its optimal form contains only significant coefficients. Usually this problem is solved by iteratively increasing the number of transfer function coefficients, if the result of identification is not accurate enough, which is evaluated by the corresponding of the experimental transition function and the model one. Compared to conventional identification method, proposed modified method is aimed to use the single iteration in determining the optimal form of math model. To achieve this, the conversion of the test input signal and the system of study response to it in time domain is applied, as well as the identification of the transfer function in the normalized form. Due to this conversion, actual time is reduced to dimensionless time. This solution makes it possible to introduce the simple criterion for the significance of the coefficients depending on their values in comparison with other coefficients.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133779413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
