Approaches to provide failure modes and effects analysis and functional-cost analysis of aviation electromechanical systems components, taking into account the implementing cost of each function, and their implementation results examples are shown. The proposed method description, its main parameters, as well as its approbation on the example of the developed aircraft fuel pump electromechanical drive: the control unit and the electric motor are given. A failure cost level index is proposed. It allows to estimate the cost of inputs of eliminating a functional failure, taking into account its occurrence probability. The reliability and cost characteristics of developed electromechanical drive are calculated. The components with the highest failure cost level index are identified, and recommendations are given on possible ways to improve the reliability of these components.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124841988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structure is substantiated and a mathematical description of a two-channel thermodynamic model is obtained, in which this approach is implemented. The advantage of the proposed approach is the small amount of initial data required to parameterize the thermal protection system. Also, the proposed version of the thermal protection system provides a simpler solution to the problem of setting the initial conditions for starting the protection system after an interruption than systems for monitoring the thermal state of an electric motor using traditional thermal models. An approach to taking into account the effect of speed changes on motor cooling is presented. The algorithm of operation of the thermal protection system based on a two-channel model is described. The results of modeling this protection system are presented.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"44 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114081396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study focuses on a case of fast urban railway, which is a popular mean of transport across Tricity, Poland. Based on observations and measurements, a potential for improvement of energy efficiency by modifying the speed profile was recognized. In order to conduct necessary calculations, simulation model of railway vehicle was developed using Matlab/Simulink software. Accuracy of results provided by the model was proven against values registered during real train run. Various velocity profiles, including constant-speed and coasting were considered, indicating room for improvement of both vehicle drivetrain efficiency and total energy consumption. Next, velocity profile optimization algorithm was proposed, using Matlab Optimization Toolbox. Calculated optimal run was compared with the measured data, showing notable savings in both running time and energy. Applicability of the developed algorithm was discussed, underlining advantages of the presented approach.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"12 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132407154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensorless control systems utilize observers for the estimation of the rotor position which is mandatory for torque control. One of the commonly used methods is a back-EMF observer, which estimates back-EMF and the rotor position of the permanent magnet synchronous motor as well. However, the accuracy of the observer is strictly dependent on the type of the filter used to distinguish back-EMF, which causes the phase delay in the position estimation. This paper proposes to use sinc-filter of the third order to achieve a higher accuracy in the position estimation. As the sequence coming from sliding mode observer has the properties of delta-sigma modulated signal, extra information can be extracted for the specified measurement time and provides higher accuracy than the use of simple moving average filter. The proposed algorithm was verified using MATLAB Simulink and showed better accuracy compared to conventional method.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126297949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During normal charging and discharging operation these cells get imbalanced due to manufacturing tolerances and self-leakage current resulting into reduced voltage and deterioration of cells permanently as some of these might get overcharged or deep discharged. Hence, cell balancing is crucial for performance improvement and extended life of the battery. Balancing time and capacitor current are key parameters to judge the quality of a balancing circuit. In this work, a multi-layer cell balancing scheme has been proposed that provides rapid balancing with reduced charging current of the capacitors. The first layer of the proposed technique is derived from a buck-boost converter topology, where inductor is responsible for balancing of a pack consisting of two cells. The second and third layers of the proposed technique are derived from the double tiered switched capacitor circuit, where capacitors are used to do the equalization between battery packs. Modelling and designing of each layer of the proposed topology has been presented. The proposed topology is simple and versatile for industrial applications. The simulation results confirm that the proposed technique improved balancing speed and reduced switching current.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125755187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of combined control, the flow rate is controlled simultaneously by rotational speed variation, throttling, and bypass. The energy consumption of the pump unit is evaluated, and the reliability of its operation is examined according to three various flow rate control methods that are applied: with minimum energy consumption, with maximum reliability (service life), and a method that provides a trade-off between energy consumption and service life. Comparison of energy consumption in the considered cases shows that with the trade-off regulation method, energy consumption is 6.36% higher than with the help of the minimum energy consumption control. However, the combined control method allows achieving significant energy savings up to (20.6%) in comparison with the maximum reliability control method.","PeriodicalId":366426,"journal":{"name":"2021 28th International Workshop on Electric Drives: Improving Reliability of Electric Drives (IWED)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121887110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
