Czajkowska","doi":"10.26881/pwe.2022.55.09","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26881/pwe.2022.55.09","url":null,"abstract":"The results of the research aimed at diagnosing the ability to solve textual tasks by the students – candidates for lower primary teachers are presented in the article. The research was carried out between the years 2017 and 2019. It comprised 392 students of pedagogy with teaching specialization. The main research method was a competency test, and the technique was document analysis. The research shows that the students have well-mastered calculational algorithms and techniques but they have difficulties in presenting their reasoning in the language of mathematics. Despite this, the number of home schooled pupils in Poland does not exceed 0.5% of all students, making homeschooling a niche alternative. This article attempts to discuss the need to revive the awareness around home education, including reasons for choosing this educational path, its advantages, disadvantages, consequences and the level of parental satisfaction. Starting with the critique of the current schooling system as motivation in moving towards educational alternatives, I conclude homeschooling to be an escape from the traditional schooling system. I have analysed data collected from parents of school-aged children in an attempt to recreate their view of contemporary home education. In contrast to existing research, my findings were collected under conditions of remote learning related to the covid19 pandemic. You can indicate its values, define goals and functions. It is a type of activity that a child undertakes voluntarily. In history, the approach of adults to children’s play has been different, but in the last century it has been noticed that through play / play, it is easier for a younger child to learn about the world and reality, and the knowledge thus acquired is more permanent. I was interested in what images of children’s musical games was remembered by adults from the 50-year-old generation who lived their childhood in conditions other than modern children. Śpica","doi":"10.26881/pwe.2022.55.02","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.26881/pwe.2022.55.02","url":null,"abstract":"In this article, I present the hegemonic concept of childhood in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries among the Polish community of West Prussia. The subject of the analyses was the content of articles dealing with children’s issues, published in the local Polish press. The essential feature of the hegemonic discourse of childhood for the Polish community in the analysed region was that it was clearly based on the Catholic religion and national ideas, as well as on a strong relationship with the conservative and post-feudal image of family relations. The research was conducted based on the method of a systematic review of literature, where the analysis was based on academic articles published in 3 journals, i.e. “Resocjalizacja Polska”, “Archiwum Kryminologii”, and “Nowa Kodyfikacja Prawa Karnego” from 2017 to 2021, and on legal acts. Research on textbooks has scarcely addressed their visual layer, often recognising that the greatest influence on the effectiveness of these materials is the content and the method adopted. However, research conducted within the framework of the cognitive load theory and the cognitive theory of multimedia learning demonstrates that the visual form of educational materials can influence the effectiveness of learning, particularly for beginning learners. The article presents the results of an analysis of three paper textbooks and one e-book for early childhood education that are commonly used in Polish public schools. Using a semantic analysis inspired by the works of A. Wierzbicka and J. Lakoff, the author analyses the historical semantic sources of propaganda and the use of the category of childhood in them. An example of an analysed propaganda product is the song “Uncle Vova, we are with you!” published online in 2017. The analysis proves that the semantics of the Russian propaganda message is based on patterns from previous eras with an invariant element – World War II, which is a kind of myth about the beginning of the Russian world. The war in Ukraine today additionally updates the meanings related to the armed conflict and patriotism. The practical goal, therefore, is to formulate recommendations for parents and caregivers in the upbringing and prevention of gambling disorders in the family and peer environment. The article is a review. This article, which is aligned with theme of the journal, refers to research on the risk factors of gambling disorders in children and adolescents and was based on an analysis of foundational data from a systematic review of English-language scholarly journals over the years 2013–2021. Following the latter, the article suggests that it is important to read Montessori in a heretical way in order to keep this idea open and “alive”. This mode of reading demands constant attempts of playing with the pillars or the main categories of this educational approach. The article is divided into three sections. The first part refers to the socio-historical context of Montessori writings and their reception in Poland. The second part problematizes the issue of dogmatisation and privatization of the knowledge on Montessori and thus making it difficult for the heretical reading to come into being. The last part is devoted to the preliminary sketch of the idea of heretical reading. Baron-Polańczyk. It consists of a theoretical introduction including the characteristics of website-related education, some reflexions on X, Y, Z and Alpha generations as well as the interpretation of activities of these groups in modern school. The following part of the text comprises some examples of project activities carried out in 2017–2022 among children and teenagers from rural areas and small towns of Lubuskie voivodeship. These activities exploited practical methods of mixed education, learning through experiencing and interdisciplinary education based on STEAM concept.
