The influence of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) in two strains of ‘Gala’, one strain of ‘Delicious’, and one strain of ‘Fuji’ apples, when fruitlet diameter was about 20 mm, on fruit set and fruit size at hand-thinning in Southwest Idaho in the Intermountain West region, USA was studied. Applications of ACC reduced fruit set in ‘Schlect Spur Delicious’ in 7 and 30 days after application. Acc applications reduced fruit set in ‘Gala’ and ‘Fuji’ apples 30 days after application. Fruit weight after 30 days of ACC application (hand thinning time) in trees receiving ACC was higher than those in Untreated Control and the difference was significant only in ‘Schlect Spur Delicious’ apple. Application of ACC at 300 mg·L−1 or 365 mg·L−1 in this study did not have any advese effects on foliage or fruit skin in any of the tested cultivars in this project.","PeriodicalId":360573,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural Research & Technology: Open Access Journal","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124015001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While it is popular to describe the test as determining types of microbes in soils, in fact PLFA reveals the content of differing extractable phosphorylated-lipids recognized to be cell-wall constituents of microbes [2] extractable from soil with organic solvents. The advantage of PLFA is frequently characterized by contrasting it to the recognized difficulties that traditional microbiological cultural methods encounter in successful isolation and culturing of species present. PLFA is an indirect and multi-step process. After successful delineation of the range of lipids observed the analyst normally proceeds further to decide on assignments of groups of specific lipids as biomarkers or “signatures” for classes or genera of organisms. This selection process is not necessarily straight-forward and is based on accumulated evidence corroborating structural aspects of the relationships. The assignments generally include terminally branched saturated fatty acids to gram-positive bacteria, monounsaturated fatty acids to gram-negative bacteria, mid-branched saturated fatty acids for actinomycetes, and polyunsaturated fatty acids to fungi.","PeriodicalId":360573,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural Research & Technology: Open Access Journal","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122356238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When talking about agriculture, gathering as much information as possible on soil condition and microclimatic conditions, which include insect activity, is essential for correct decision making in farming. Using a large number of various, low-cost sensors, gives us the opportunity to create a database for a smart farming algorithm. Processing such a database requires a software system, based on self-learning artificial intelligence. This system will later suggest an optimal agricultural activity. Using such a system, the farmer has better opportunities to take the right measures when needed. This article presents the method and the low-cost sensor system for analyzing soil in the field. It is integrated into the “digital farming” solution.","PeriodicalId":360573,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural Research & Technology: Open Access Journal","volume":"3 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141202766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Depending on the crop species, the most recognized benefits of deficit-irrigating fruit orchards are: 1) important water savings [1], 2) increased water productivity and intrinsic water use efficiency [2], 3) improved fruit quality and uniformity of fruit maturity [3] and 4) reduced vegetative growth [4]. Therefore, maximum orchard profitability is reached when water application has induced some level of water stress (Figure 1). Of course, this premise breaks away from the traditional principle that both full irrigation and optimum plant water status are indispensable to maximize profitability. The correct use of RDI implies the use of water stress during periods of the growing season when the sensitivity of reproductive development to drought is moderate or low. It must be carefully handled, because, it is well known that severe water stress may reduce fruit size and compromise yield of the next season (as well as the current season if improperly applied) [5]. This is why RDI has been mostly employed in fruit crops whose economic value is not determined by fresh weight, such as wine grapes [3], almonds [5], and prunes [6], among others. Furthermore, the fact that fresh-fruit growers have been hesitant to use this irrigation technique [7] is a good example of how the adoption of water conservative irrigation strategies, is strongly hindered by farmer’s aversion to risk [8].","PeriodicalId":360573,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural Research & Technology: Open Access Journal","volume":"44 41","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141204227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiment was carried out with four (4) weed control treatments viz. T1 = No weeding (control); T2 = Hand weeding at 15 and 30 DAT; T3 = Pre-emergence herbicide (Acetachlore 14% + Bensulfuron methyle 4%); T4 = Post-emergence herbicide (Pyrozosulfuran ethyle 10 %) using two aus varieties viz. BRRI dhan 83 and BRRI dhan 65. The experiment was carried out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The result revealed pre-emergence herbicide (T3) as the most effective and efficient method of weed control by increasing yield significantly. No weeding caused 37.46 % loss of yield in this experiment where the application of pre-emergence herbicide showed 96.26 % higher yield than no weeding followed by hand weeding 79.14 % and post-emergence herbicide 64.70 %. Post-emergence herbicide performed well in tillers hill-1 along with straw yield. No weeding showed worst performance in every growth and yield attributes also it resembled as liable for maximum sterile grains panicle-1. Despite some offensive effects, no efficient alternative is currently available to shift the herbicidal weed control in aus rice as manual hand weeding is laborious and costly. Being efficient in controlling weeds, application of the pre-emergence herbicide may be used for effective weed control in aus rice.","PeriodicalId":360573,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural Research & Technology: Open Access Journal","volume":"46 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141206743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a innovative way of women organization fron a small city that realized the necessity of income generation and family socioeconomic empowerment in the Community. The goal of this report, besides of sharing the way of creation of this new proposal of solidarity economy, is also show the possibilities of socio-environmental transformation of this model, as well in the social relations as in the new format of production’s group. These relations have caused empowerment of the women in the family and society.
