The aim of this paper is to reduce the level of complexity of the classical vector space model (VSM) and to simplify it by presenting an implementation on the plane. Furthermore, a comparison of tf-idf weighting scheme with the introduced Vector Plain Model (VPM) is presented. This method constitutes a significant tool for searching terms through auto-correlation and an innovating link between the scientific fields of information retrieval and quantitative linguistics.","PeriodicalId":359504,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 9th ACM International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126769158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, advances in technology have made EEG more accessible to the population. This opens up lines for EEG to provide more information about brain activity in everyday life, rather than in a laboratory setting. To take advantage of the technological advances that have allowed for this, we introduce the Brain-EE system, a method for evaluating user engaged enjoyment that uses a commercially available EEG tool (Muse). During testing, fifteen participants engaged in two tasks (playing two different video games via tablet), and their EEG data were recorded. The Brain-EE system supported much of the previous literature on enjoyment; increases in frontal theta activity strongly and reliably predicted which game each individual participant preferred. We hope to develop the Brain-EE system further in order to contribute to a wide variety of applications (e.g., usability testing, clinical or experimental applications, evaluation methods, etc.).","PeriodicalId":359504,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 9th ACM International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127544080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Activity tracking apps allow sharing of user activity summary results or instantiated activity events or milestones, both as a motivation factor and for collaborative approach to activity methods, i.e. team effect. Social media posts are the major channel that such information, in several contextual forms, as well as other types of related posts, are made available to users. This work reports on the level of effect on the interest and motivation towards healthy living that such social information applies to casual social media users. The type of input enrichment is investigated to that effect.","PeriodicalId":359504,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 9th ACM International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127724338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite their promising functionality, existing systems offer limited capabilities in terms of search filters, reviews, and doctor recommendations. In this paper, we propose FindMyDoc, a novel peer-to-peer healthcare platform that goes beyond existing traditional healthcare models. It provides doctor recommendations by allowing proper filtering based on treatment procedures, quality of treatment, and reviews of healthcare providers. In addition, the search results are refined using a recommendation engine that employs user-based collaborative filtering and exploits a set of predefined review options provided by the patients in order to match them with doctors.","PeriodicalId":359504,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 9th ACM International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126442725","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research is originated in the domain of Active and Assisted Living which mainly is about supporting older people to master their daily life activities. The paper proposes (a) a windowing technique which can be used for online sensor streaming and (b) a set of different statistical spatio-temporal features to recognize activities in real time. In order to check the overall performance, this approach was tested using the CASAS dataset. The results proved a high performance based on different evaluation metrics despite a large number of classes.","PeriodicalId":359504,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 9th ACM International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125444813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a significant percentage of the users does not realize that there are applications that can threaten their privacy. Any user can download freely applications from the Google Play Store, without being aware of the consequences to his/her privacy. The majority of such downloaded application work with\"Intents\". Intents are signals that represent an action to be executed within the application or in order to propagate data to remote applications that act as recipients. The problem we study in this paper is how to protect user privacy by intercepting and controlling the Intents. The approach we propose in this paper is to enhance the user's privacy through \"Intent\" filtering. Specifically, our application intercepts some designated Intents (implicit and broadcast \"Intents\", featuring suspicious actions) and alerts users with a message containing information about the \"Intent\" and the action to be executed. Finally, the user can block or allow the \"Intent\" at will, after reviewing the content of the alerting message.","PeriodicalId":359504,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 9th ACM International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131445016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
