According to P. Bourdieu and J. Urry, network capital develops and maintains social relations without reference to geographical location, which makes it a source of emotional, financial, or practical benefits. Network capital is supplemented and enhanced by digital capital, i.e., digital skills, online activities, membership in virtual communities, etc. Youth organization leaders accumulate network and digital capital at different stages of their career in a youth organization: before joining, as a member, and after leaving. The author interviewed experts and analyzed biographies of youth organization leaders to prove that membership in such organizations provided them with numerous opportunities and accelerated their career. In general, network interactions manifested at different stages of leaders' life path, contributing to their mobility.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"132 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127146519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teaching staff, education management, and, to a certain degree, parents keep failing to adapt to the rapid technological progress. This cognitive unpreparedness manifests itself as axiological modality. Most representatives of the senior generation involved in the academic process tend to demonstrate cautious or even negative attitude to virtualization. The author aims at introducing a more insightful attitude by devaluating critical or negative attitudes to virtual pedagogy and the role of social networks in it. The article discusses the factors and manifestations of this unwilling acceptance by schoolteachers and university staff. The main emphasis is not on the electronic tools per se, but on the virtual communication and academic discourse as objects of learning.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124714492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research covered twenty videos from Felix Kjellberg's PewDiePie channel. It involved observation and statistic processing, as well as quantitative and qualitative communication analysis based on special web services that provide access to analytical data for a particular YouTube channel or video. The videos were divided into functional and content elements that played different roles in attracting new viewers and encouraging them to interact with the blogger. The list of involvement techniques included: 1) maximal hashtag coverage of viewers' interests; 2) interaction with the audience in the comments; 3) active community life and demonstrative interest in the viewers; 4) a compelling video title and preview.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"213 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125773949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It provides obvious research innovations, new digital research algorithms, and non-trivial solutions, as well as an effective n-code measurement tool. Digital freedom means availability of network tools and services, where ordinary users can be actors of digital mobilization. In order to visualize an experimental scenario, the authors converted original data in the PolyAnalyst program to obtain thematic groups and an actor-network model for online communities of Kuzbass and the Tyumen Region. The generated dataset made it possible to consider common and different discussion topics, which were grouped by acute issues: crime, law, the military operation in Ukraine, infrastructure, etc. The study revealed some methods of user search and processing of chatbot requests. The digital tools demonstrated the regional features of the choice of online media, local resources, and topics. Online discussions give rise to new communication practices, i.e., the ability to receive, discuss, and shape relevant thematic agendas in real time, sometimes ahead of government officials and official media. This phenomenon can be explained by the availability of online community, hybrid communication technologies, repeated discussions, and alternative reliable sources.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131522245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research parametrized communicative simulation genres and described the interpersonal aspect of virtual interaction in a virtual environment, i.e., bricolage form, intersemiotics, and reduced corporality. Communicative simulations differ from such social practices as offline simulations or role games. The social aspect of communicative simulations includes (1) the media nature of virtual interaction; (2) the hybrid nature of communicative simulations that combines the features of both ordinary simulations and text-based role games; (3) the dual nature of social interaction, carried out simultaneously in material and diegetic spaces. As a result, the social aspect of communicative simulation can be presented in the form of a three-level model: material, diegeological, instrumental levels.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125579291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research objective was to classify hashtags in virtual communication using the methods of conversational, contextual, discursive, content, and intent analyses. The study covered the online representations of the Kemerovo State University and its hashtags (2020–2023), namely, those of its official accounts, institutes, departments, trade unions, and student communities. The author revealed the following functions. The predictive function guided the first impression and was followed by compression, structuring, differentiating, and navigation functions, which systematized the content. The stereotyping function manifested itself in the image formation, while the axiological function asserted a set of ideologies behind it. The actualizing function was responsible for correlating the content with the media agenda. The manipulative and attractive functions demonstrated the suggestive aspect of the communicative potential of hashtags that represented the basic concepts of the university's conceptual sphere: kinship and family, community, a sense of belonging, stability, etc. In general, they developed an ideological model that formed a positive image of the university for the target audience.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126389545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author analyzed these platforms to reveal the methods and ideology behind this new format. The everyday practice of social networks and messengers serves as a cognitive strategy: the literary heritage undergoes fragmentation, tagging, clustering, and visualization. Semantic editions and network communication share the following features. Information is fragmented and classified by tagging for subsequent clustering. The links are horizontal, e. g., co-occurrence graphs, contact networks, etc. Quantitative data provide qualitative conclusions, e. g., frequencies of mention for toponyms and anthroponyms. This cognitive interpretation process of pre-textual cognitive dissonance often results in aggressive comments. The author analyzed interpretive Internet texts (comments) to reveal the cognitive patterns and prove the effect of pre-textual, i.e., cognitive, dissonance on the language and content of Internet comments. Addressee's external interpretive activity, represented in the text, is determined by internal cognitive processes, i.e., pre-textual presumptions and expectations. The study was based on the article entitled The people are multiplying \"on earth\", which was posted on a Runet information network resource on January 30, 2023. The article, which featured national demographic problems and possible solutions, yielded 189 comments that clearly illustrated the mechanism of conflict of interpretations. The methods of content and intent analyses revealed two cognitive patterns: the first one correlated with the intentional content of the trigger-text whereas the second pattern did not. Both patterns covered a number of cognitive models. The original text, subjectively interpreted by the addressee, triggered a wide range of comments that followed various cognitive patterns. As a result, the discussion unfolded as a conflict scenario, i.e., a struggle of attitudes and opinions, determined by the pre-textual cognitive dissonance of the disputers.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117009935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For example, data created by users for other purposes and extracted from social media can be used to study biodiversity, monitor environment and analyze environmental practices. The article represents a summary of such an empirical study that featured messages about air pollution in the city of Cherepovets published in the VKontakte social network. The study covered the period from January 01, 2020, to October 31, 2022. The methodology included the following steps: selecting relevant network communities; uploading and classifying the relevant messages; thematic modeling and content analysis. The sample included 48 messages that introduced the problem of air pollution in Cherepovets. The PolyAnalyst data analysis platform revealed the following most common phrases: polluting substance, atmospheric air, harmful substance, ammonia emission, liquid complex fertilizers, ammonia concentration. The article also contains a list of industrial enterprises mentioned as polluting agents. The results illustrate the opinions of social net users about the quality of air in Cherepovets. It can be concluded that social networks might help monitor the interest in environmental problems, because they shape the environmental agenda ahead of television and other information sources.","PeriodicalId":359429,"journal":{"name":"Virtual Communication and Social Networks","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124040038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
