However wireless communication has a feature that is susceptible to the surrounding environment. For instance, many packet losses occur caused by the radio wave interference or attenuation. Recent many mobile devices have multiple wireless network interfaces. Multihoming improves throughput by connecting a host to more than one network using multiple network interfaces simultaneously. Although the previous studies of the bicasting on multihomed network indicate throughput improvement using Multihomed Mobile IP or SCTP, these protocols are not widely used. To solve the problem, we focused on Multipath TCP that is one of the transport layer protocols supporting the multihoming. In this paper, we implemented a system that emulates various actual environments of wireless communication and experimented the throughput and the influence effect using the several bicasting methods. As the result, we confirmed that the selective bicasting is the most suitable for throughput improvement in the actual network environments.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132671526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device is designed to be worn on the wrist of the user and is connected to the user's smartphone. The detection algorithm is based on the information acquired from an ultrasonic sensor on the wristband and the accelerometer in the smartphone. The device has two detection modes; the ground level detection mode, and the above ground level detection mode. The ground level detection mode is used to detect obstacles (both bumps and holes) on the ground based on the distance data from the ultrasonic sensor together with the angle data of the user's arm from the accelerometer. The above ground level detection mode uses solely the information from the ultrasonic sensor. When an obstacle is found, the device alerts the user with both audio and haptic tactile feedback via the smartphone. Experimental results tested on blindfolded sighted individuals show that using the device with a white cane increases efficiency in avoiding obstacles. The results also show that the device is easy to learn.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133153955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HIVE is proposed for home intrusion detection and devised in three parts. First, sensor manager is composed of sensor manager acting as ZigBee coordinator communicating with ZigBee sensors and actuators. Three different sensor types are passive infrared for detecting motion, magnetic switch for opening/closing of door detection, and load cell for the weight gauge from pressing steps on the floor. Two actuators, composing of piezo alarm and LED, are activated by sensor manager. Second, Firebase is developed as cloud database and user authentication service. Third, an android application is deployed for end-user for monitoring, configuring, and being notified remotely. As a result, sensor and actuator modules can join the ZigBee network automatically. Sensor Manager sends updated sensors' and actuators' data to Firebase, consequently, home users can be notified intrusion events via the android application, and remotely configure events, sensors, and actuators anywhere anytime via the Internet. Therefore, this system can enhance security and safety for home assets.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123253697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the popularity of smartphones which has become a necessary device for our daily life, several mobile applications have been developed to provide a solution for the personal security problem. This idea suits very well for the personal security situation since most people usually carry their mobile devices all the time allowing them immediately use the applications. In this paper, we propose the Play It Safe application as an alternative solution to mitigate personal security problem. Our application provides a new SOS service that can automatically send an SOS notification to nearby users in addition to the normal SOS service that sends an SOS notification to his/her emergency contacts.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121137160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the flexibility of LMS to deliver the learning materials in various ways and approaches. However, the heterogeneous of students' behavior, the diversity of learning materials and the complexity of hyperlink for navigation are the main factors of limitation in LMS and can caused cognitive overload among students. Many literatures show that, providing an e-learning system that considers student preferences and needs can improve student performances and understanding. Therefore, this research proposed a new framework to enhance LMS to support adaptive features. The proposed enhancement of LMS is implemented in Moodle platform which includes major adaptation features based on visual and verbal dimension of Felder-Silverman Learning Style Model (FSLSM) and the student's knowledge level. The enhanced framework is organized into three models; domain model, student model and adaptive model that need to interact together to perform adaptively in presenting the learning materials. Three multi-agent components have been added to the Moodle platform to implement the adaptation. The current Moodle repository has also been modified by creating additional fields that are necessary for adaptation.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132574750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are a number of students who resign from the universities before graduation. One reason behind this problem is the curriculum of targeted faculty that the students want to learn is not match with their preference or their aptitude. The proposed Decision Support System (DSS) for Targeting Higher Education focuses on helping the prospective students in finding the matched faculty and providing information of the curriculum of their targeted faculty. This paper proposes three models of the DSS which are Scoring Model, Financial Model, and Mix Model. These models will help the students to make a decision when they want to find what faculty or what curriculum they should learn by considering from several DSS variables. The proposed models are implemented by using a web-based application. Testing of the system will be conducted with the high school students in order to evaluate the system in several aspects.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"2012 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128211073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tele-monitoring is critical to alleviate this problem and recover from failures quickly. Energy conservation of such a tele-monitoring system is an important consideration. MATEMA6 enables us to monitor and notify the machine status with rapidly and low energy consumption. It is built on top of commodity technologies: a small board computer like Raspberry Pi, a low-power wireless protocol, and mobile phones. Raspberry Pi periodically gathers data from the machines through 6LoWPAN over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The machine errors are notified immediately to the Android application on mobile phones. In addition, the employee can monitor their assigned machines; and the manager can see the overall performance of the factory via the Web browser either on the PC or the mobile phones. We also measure the energy consumption and show that the 6LoWPAN over BLE consumes only 45% and 76% of Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet, respectively.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125510482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
