However, those pests can develop resistance against chemicals in pesticides. As the pests improve resistant level to pesticide, the storage owner has to use higher dose of chemicals. This might raise the environmental and consumer safety problems. With these issues, we propose a web-based application, namely SPIN to collect location-based resistance data of stored-product insects and other factors (e.g., temperature, relative humidity, etc.) which might effect to the spread of the insects. Also, we use a machine learning algorithm, namely, decision tree for classification, to generate a prediction model for the spread of the insects based on the historical data. With SPIN, the outputs can be used in making plans to decrease the use of pesticide. This could also encourage the search for alternative pest control approaches which are more environmental friendly and much safer for consumers.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127085463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Judging the size, and therefore weight, of an egg is often important in many food recipes. This paper proposes an image processing algorithm for classifying eggs by size from an image displayed on an Android device. A coin of known size is used in the image as a reference object. The coin's radius and the egg's dimensions are automatically detected and measured using image processing techniques. Egg sizes are classified based on their features computed from the measured dimensions using a support vector machine (SVM) classifier. The experimental results show the measurement errors in egg dimensions were low at 3.1% and the overall accuracy of size classification was 80.4%.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124594528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This will change the patterns and processes in both industry and agriculture towards higher efficiency. Particularly, agriculture is an important foundation of Thai economy. Consequently, we propose an intelligent farming system (IF) to improve the production process in planting. IF composes of two main parts which are a sensor system and a control system. In this paper, we focus on the control part which are watering and roofing systems of an outdoor farm based on the statistical data sensed from the sensor systems (including temperature, humidity, moisture and light intensity sensors) Since the sensed data would not be always accurate due to noises, we apply Kalman filtering to smooth the data before using as an input in our decision making process. For the decision making process, we do not consider only the sensed data, but also the weather information. A decision tree model is generated to predict the weather condition. Then, a set of decision rules based on both the sensed data and the predicted weather condition is developed to automatically make a decision on whether watering and roofing system should be on or off. Moreover, we also provide functions for users to manually control the watering and roofing systems via our mobile application.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129195250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence, more elderly people have to live alone. Moreover, there are more than 10 percent of elderly's accidents occurred each year. In 2015, elderly abuses are more than 2 million cases and most of them are in elderly's house. With these reasons, Home Security System for Elderly People who Live Alone is proposed to facilitate and increase the security level for elderly people. The system is a smart doorbell which allows elderly people to see, hear, and speak to their visitors at the front door via their mobiles to avoid a face-to-face communication. Moreover, the system provides an emergency broadcast to notify the members of elderly's family and the elderly's neighbor to receive the help timely.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131629161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, learning a new language for any people would not be easy and it is a time consuming and costly process. To support both Thai and foreigners to communicate proficiently, LongTalk application running on Android mobile phones has been developed. The current version includes six languages: Thai, English, Khmer, Burmese, Chinese and Japanese. The application covers seven different situations faced by most people when travelling to other countries. The seven situations are shopping, food ordering, daily transportation, asking directions, health matters, numbering and survival questions. All sentences will be displayed and spoken in all six languages in the native pronunciation. We also provide tutorials to practice those sentences.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133353092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, most of the game does not focus on learning encouragement or educational purposes. This project proposes a serious game for improving English and mathematical skills for novice practitioners who are defined as non-professional learners or primary school students, to emphasize the skill and knowledge acquisition. The ultimate goal for the novice is to gain knowledge, skills, and experiences throughout their practicing and learning from the game. This paper aims to introduce a serious game on the android platform that allows the novice to practice their problem solving skills by simulating the scene of a grocery shop. The novice will act as a shop's cashier, who has to take care of customer's order and transactions in the shop. The novice has to operate all of the activity in limited time in order to get the highest score. The novice can race against themselves to get higher and higher score so that their skills can be improved.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"88-D 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133182854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It provides connectivity for everyone and everything that embeds some intelligence in Internet-connected objects to communicate, exchange information, take decisions, invoke actions and provide amazing services. This will bring a new ubiquitous computing and communication era and change people's lives (drastically/entirely). Moreover, the most important component in IoT is database that used for collecting and storing a lot of data from ubiquitous sensing devices. Even though, cloud-based storage solutions are becoming increasingly popular in recent years, it is inconvenient for residential environments because the sensing devices should be connected to the internet for simultaneously sending data to cloud computing. However, this solution has a high cost implication and high power consumption. Therefore, the credit-card sized computer which is fully functional is a good alternative. It is small and inexpensive computer that provides a new opportunity for IoT hardware. As a result, it is possible to use Raspberry Pi as a database server. In this paper, we will explain how to construct a database server for IoT middleware that has data distribution and low-power consumption by using credit-card size computers which have satisfactory performances and affordable price.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115908362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However the rational relationship between the motor observation and bodily self-consciousness has not yet been clarified. To investigate whether motor observation from the first person point of view can modulate bodily self-consciousness, we developed an immersive virtual reality (VR) system, and executed a psychophysical experiment using the system. Experimental results demonstrate that the developed VR system enables subjects to have stronger bodily self-consciousness. It suggests that motor observation from the first person viewpoint contributes to neurofeedback training of motor imagery-based BCI.","PeriodicalId":359355,"journal":{"name":"2016 Fifth ICT International Student Project Conference (ICT-ISPC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125665174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
