For this reason the draft form with 44 items was applied on 685 prospective teachers being educated at Education Faculty at Mersin University. Exploratory factor analysis studies based on Varimax rotation revealed the scale had a structure with single factor and 4 components called as self-improvement, negative feelings, wishfulness and behavioral representation. Relating to the whole scale, Cronbach alpha reliability parameter was found as .939, and reliability parameters were found as . 909; .850; .835 and .821, respectively. Four components altogether explained 57,171% of the variance. The findings of the analysis done to determine whether any differentiation arose on their attitudes according to gender, department, etc. were accepted as the proof of scale’s validity. The findings revealed this scale was reliable and valid to determine prospective teachers’ attitudes towards graduate education. © 2014 IOJES. Literature suggests that learning organization has a significantly positive effect on job satisfaction of employees. Purpose of Study: The major purpose of this study was to examine the relations of learning organization level perceived by primary school teachers to job satisfaction. Methods: The quantitative survey research method was used to investigate the relationship between learning organization and job satisfaction. The model of the research is a descriptive correlation survey design. Targeted population of the research were 2387 primary school teachers working in the city center of Van province, eastern part of Turkey, in academic year 2011-2012. 450 primary school teachers were selected as cluster sampling. Findings and Results: Average mean for Job satisfaction of teachers was at satisfied level. There were no statically significant differences in terms of gender and subject matter of teachers at the level of dimensions of learning organization and job satisfaction of teachers. There were statistically significant differences at the two dimensions of learning organization, shared vision and team learning in terms of service period of teachers; whereas there was no statistically significant difference at the rest of the dimensions of learning organization, personal mastery, mental models, and system thinking. ‘Shared vision’ and ‘team learning’ as dimensions of learning organization accounted for 36.3 % of the total variance in job satisfaction of teachers. It is suggested that to increase teachers’ job satisfaction level, as important factor for teachers’ performance, perceived learning organization of teacher should be increased. The study consisted of students at a vocational high school. The Bar-On emotional intelligence scale was used; it comprises five dimensions and fifteen subdimensions. It was found that emotional intelligence did not have a significant influence on academic performance in sciences and mathematics courses as a whole. However, the influence of emotional intelligence on academic achievement in science and mathematics courses became obvious when the sub-dimensions of emotional intelligence were analyzed. Accordingly, it was established that the sub-dimensions of self-actualization, social responsibility, stress-tolerance and impulsecontrol were predictors, although they varied by the type of science and mathematics course. © 2014 IOJES. At the root of this crisis this is the increase of the need for energy parallel to the increase in the world population. Energy appears to be a significant concept, not only regarding a society’s development-related requirements, but also the future of all existing societies. The concept of energy is also one of the fundamental concepts used in the scientific disciplines of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, which are sub-branches of General Science, and it is also perceived as an abstract and complicated concept by teacher candidates. The purpose of the study is to identify the level of knowledge about energy, and opinions about different energy resources of science and technology teacher candidates, according to their undergraduate programs. In order to achieve this purpose, 383 teacher candidates, currently in the first and fourth years of study at Marmara University, Ataturk Faculty of Education, Department of Science Teaching, during the 2005-2006 (former program) and 2010-2011 (new program) academic years, were selected as the sample group. Consisting of seven open ended questions and prepared by the researchers, the assessment instrument was applied to the sample group and the resulting data were evaluated using the content analysis method from the qualitative data analysis methods. As a result of the research, the new undergraduate program on science has proven to be more successful compared to the previous program; however, the program’s content still requires enrichment in terms of energy and energy resources, particularly regarding the issues of alternative energy resources and nuclear energy. In addition, both programs have proven not to cause the teacher candidates to change their opinions on nuclear energy. © 2014 IOJES. In an authentic environment, model rocketry motion was applied. As a data collection tool, two open ended qualitative questions related with model rocketry in two conditions were used. In the first condition air friction was neglected and in the second one it was considered. Prospective teachers’ answers were tabulated and then redistributed to them in order to make them discuss with each other. Argumentation activities were carried out in this way and all the activities were video and audio recorded by two cameras. Discourse analysis of the collected data was performed in three steps, reading/classifying, interpretation and construction, to probe the intensity of dialogic and authoritative discourse in a university science class. It was concluded that prospective teachers were found they were developing solutions in an environment of social interaction. Prospective teachers tended to use a scientific language both when they were criticized or questioned and when they were asking questions about their and other prospective teachers’ ideas for the solution of an ill structured problem. As a conclusion, argumentation activities performed in authentic environments within learning communities which are in social interaction will help to find solutions for ill structured problems used for teaching physics. Clubs on model rocketry should be supported in schools to develop learning communities. © 2014 IOJES. A total of 209 teachers working at primary and secondary schools in Izmir participated in the study. The validity and reliability of the measurement tool consisting of 31 items and 9 sub-dimensions was analyzed using LISREL 8.51 and SPSS 13.0 programs. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to determine the validity of the measurement instrument. The results of the CFA of the scale indicated that the data was in good fit with the original factor structure (א2/df=1.33, RMSEA=.040, 90%CI=.031-.049, SRMR=.061, CFI=.95, NNFI=.94, GFI=.86). The results of the item analysis on the mean differences (-2.878 ≤ t ≤ -11.255) between the 27% lower and upper groups making up the scale indicated that the items have distinctive properties (p<.01). Coefficient of internal consistency of the sub-dimensions of the scale range between .71 and .89 (Cronbach’s alpha) and inter-item correlation coefficients between (rij).38 and .67.The results obtained concerning the psychometric properties of the Turkish version (SQMCStr) reveal that of the scale is a valid and reliable measurement instrument to determine teachers’ perceptions of school quality culture management survey. © 2014 IOJES. The Conceptions of Learning Science (COLS) questionnaire was adapted into Turkish and administered to 379 preservice elementary science teachers from seven universities in different regions of Turkey. The multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was performed to explore the differences. According to results, males and females differed on their mean scores on ‘memorizing’ and ‘testing’ dimensions of COLS questionnaire. While males had higher scores on ‘memorizing’ and ‘testing’ dimensions of COLS questionnaire than females, males and females had similar scores on ‘calculate and practice’, ‘increase of knowledge’ , ‘applying’ , and ‘understanding and seeing in a new way’ dimensions of COLS questionnaire. Mean scores on dimensions of COLS questionnaire were not significantly different with respect to SES. In addition, the results pointed out that there was no significant interaction between gender and SES. © 2014 IOJES. Relational screening model was used to access data. The sample of the present study consists of 435 students, 251 girls and 184 boys, 223 of them with single parent while 212 of them with whole family, 155 sixth graders, 147 seventh graders, 147 eighth graders who continue their education at 15 different secondary schools in Sancaktepe, Istanbul. Assessment instruments are applied to the sample of students that are on the first term of 2012-2013 school year. The data of this research was collected by using “Topukcu’s (1982) Assertiveness Inventory” and “Piers-Harris (1964) Self-concept Scale”. In accordance with the acquired data, the relationship and the difference between the assertiveness levels and self-respect of adolescents with single parent and whole family were analysed by using SPSS 15.0 program. As a result of this study, it was found that in the sub-scales of self-esteem scale, the adolescents perception of happiness-satisfaction, anxiety, popularity (social inclination), conformity (behaviour-harmony), physical appearance and mental and school condition who live only with one of his/her parents and live with their whole family instead of a broken family is higher than the level of assertiveness and self-respect of adolescents with single parent that obliged to continue his/her life with single parent due to the death of one of his/her parents. Also, the assertiveness levels and self-respect of adolescents’ with whole family are higher than the level of assertiveness and self-respect of adolescents with single parent that obliged to continue his/her life with single parent due to the death of one of his/her parents or their parents’ divorcement. A considerably significant relationship was found between the adolescents’ self and self-respect. © 2014 IOJES. After this step, whose mood is low and high has been detected, and the sensitivity level of self-esteem, flourishing and emotional approach coping for these participants has been studied via discriminant analysis. In total 316 students who receive education at the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Science and Literature at Adnan Menderes University in the fall semester of 2012-2013 school year took place in the study, and 172 (54.4%) of them were women and 144 (45.6%) of them were men. In the study The Brief Mood Introspection Scale, Self-Esteem Scale (Self-Liking/Self- Competence Scale), Flourishing Scale, Emotional Approach Coping Scale, and the personal information form were used for collecting data. According to the result that was obtained by the study in which university students were participant, it was found that The Brief Mood Introspection Scale is a valid and reliable scale in Turkish form. It was found that mood which is positive and tends to provide pleasure is positively associated with self-esteem at the highest level and then it is positively associated with emotional approach coping and flourishing. It was detected that in order to make distinction participants of the study who were on positive and negative mood; self-esteem, flourishing and emotional approach coping have necessary adequateness for discriminant analysis. According to the result of discriminant analysis, it was concluded that the most effective factor for making a distinction between participants who are pleasant for their mood and who are not, is self- esteem; and flourishing and emotional approach coping follow it. © 2014 IOJES.
