The proposed Smart PSO (SPSO) is a new version of PSO that uses the swarm particles smart behavior in the search space to solve global optimization problems. Unlike the traditional PSO algorithm, SPSO does not depends upon the initial velocities of the particles during successive iteration. It converges the particle towards global optima using cognitive and social knowledge only. This personal environment and social information gives the algorithm a fast capability of exploitation and exploration This fact has been supported by empirical simulation of seven standard benchmark functions and the comparative results clearly evident that SPSO is better than DIW-PSO, Rand-PSO and QPSO.","PeriodicalId":358412,"journal":{"name":"2021 4th Biennial International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering (ICNTE)","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115272818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A word spotting model is developed by training multi-layer perceptron (MLP) with CHOD features. Metrics of evaluation used are k-precision (kPr) and mean average precision (MAP). The proposed technique has been evaluated on two datasets consisting of segmented handwritten Hindi (Devanagari) word images and has posted very good performance. This is an indication of CHOD features having good discriminative powers. The proposed technique has been compared with other techniques for the same datasets and found to compare very well.","PeriodicalId":358412,"journal":{"name":"2021 4th Biennial International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering (ICNTE)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115370704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Crops like Rice, Wheat and pulses are the major sources of income for over 70 per cent of rural households. 15-25 percent potential crop output is lost due to diseases in India. Through this project, we aim to get rid of one of the major problems faced by farmers in India (rice farmers in particular). Over the last year, food grain production hit record high and as a result over 295 billion metric tonnes of food grains were produced in India. As a result, around 60 million tonnes of food grains were damaged due to crop diseases over the last year. Thus, India is an agrarian economy, wherein, a lot of households earn their bread through agriculture. Thus, producing disease free crops is a top priority for the majority of the rural population in India.","PeriodicalId":358412,"journal":{"name":"2021 4th Biennial International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering (ICNTE)","volume":"19 13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123420217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such persons are seen as being restricted in performing daily activities because of a complex set of interrelating factors, some pertaining to the person, and some to the environment and social/political arrangements. There are many disabilities that make a person differently-abled. Hearing loss, Visual disability, Psychiatric disorders, Mobility, and Physical Impairments, Spinal Cord Disability, Brain Disability, etc. Mobility and Physical Impairments make people suffering from partial paralysis or quadriplegia which affect their limbs. One of the best options for such patients is an appropriate wheelchair which can be controlled by any one of the moving parts of the body. The idea of a smart wheelchair with the help of computers, sensors, and supportive technology is developed. The proposed wheelchair detects the head movement and generates the signals with the help of a headgear with a Gyro sensor. The tilting of the head in left, right, forward and backward is identified by the sensors and the signals are transferred and converted this to the motion of the wheel with the help of a motor that is powered by a battery. This wheelchair avoids the use of joysticks and controls and at the same time provides an economical and easy solution for bringing independence into the life of a quadriplegia patient. The safety of the wheelchair is being taken into account while designing the wheelchair.","PeriodicalId":358412,"journal":{"name":"2021 4th Biennial International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering (ICNTE)","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115547763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The speed loop is designed using conventional PI controller with a novel maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) algorithm to generate two axis stator current reference for maximum efficiency. A single variable is used to represent machine all uncertain parameter which is stored in a single look up table to speed up execution time and saving system memory. In current loop, 2nd order nonlinear sliding mode control is employed to reduce the effect of disturbance, nonlinearities, chattering problem and to increase robustness against parameter variation under different condition. Simulation result shows the effectiveness of proposed controller applied in both speed and current loop. Sliding mode current control with MTPA effectively reduces the effect of machine modeling error and parameter uncertainty.","PeriodicalId":358412,"journal":{"name":"2021 4th Biennial International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering (ICNTE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116018276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Performance is validated during grid outage mode, solar insolation reduction and unbalancing of loads. When the grid is present, power transfer occurs along with compensation of reactive power and neutral current. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of the grid current is in compliance with the IEEE-519 standard thereby guaranteeing satisfactory performance along-with reduction in losses of the distribution network. Moreover, during the grid outage or islanded mode of operation, the power is delivered from solar PV array to the local loads by a voltage controller. The performance is validated though simulation results and the system behaviour is observed for weak grid conditions along with grid outage conditions.","PeriodicalId":358412,"journal":{"name":"2021 4th Biennial International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering (ICNTE)","volume":"204 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122836831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
