The aim is to analyse methodological and ethical quality of published CTs in Annals of Family Medicine journal. \u0000Material and methods: We use a 133-item checklist divided into 11 sections based on CONSORT and the Declaration of Helsinki. The Confidence Interval of 95% (95% CI) of Clopper-Pearson for κ average is calculated. \u0000Results: We found 35 CTs in a literature review (2010-2013) on March 25, 2014 according to PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analysis). CT was mentioned in all heading/subheadings; CT controlled parallels in 80%; cluster type 45.7%. The most observed method was masked, active-controlled, decentralized randomization. The most frequently found category was an open CT assessing a medical intervention, with a positive significant result surveyed. The most common Informed Consent (IC) was in writing, not clearly voluntary, without prior knowledge and doubtful. It was not withdrawn in 45.7% of cases. A grant/scholarship was found to be the most frequent incentive for researchers. In 28 CTs there was no conflict of interest. The κ average was 0.93 (95% CI, 0.90-0.96). \u0000Conclusions: CT published “standard” characteristic are indicated. Following the CONSORT standards publication, it has increased the overall quality of the CTs published. Protocols to manage NSIs at the primary care level are in place to ensure both staff and the public are well protected. \u0000Aim: This study aims to assess the utilization of NSI Protocols by General Practices in Liverpool, with respect to the North-West of England regional guidelines. \u0000Design and Setting: This is a cross-sectional survey, focusing on 77 general practices in Liverpool, North-west of England. \u0000Methods: Self-administered, pre-piloted questionnaires were distributed by post, email, and personal delivery to Practice Managers in the GP Surgeries. Completed forms were analyzed. \u0000Results: The study achieved an 82% response rate (63 responses out of 77). Eight (12.9%) of the Surgeries \u0000witnessed NSI cases in the preceding 12 months. Five (62.5%) of these Surgeries reported cases among the public, while the rest were among Practice staff. About 90% of the practices were aware of the regional NSI Policy, though 87.3% actually possess it. Less than 14% had difficulties adopting or implementing recommended guidelines, mostly from not knowing who to contact if help is needed. There was no association between Practice Size and the Possession of Policy (χ2 = 0.002; P = 0.99). \u0000Conclusion: The awareness, adoption and implementation of the recommended NSI policy among Surgeries in Liverpool are quite high. Globally over 80% of community households have limited access to effective, reliable, efficiency and quality Maternal & child health information, especially in Sub Saharan Africa ( SSA), and depends solely on health professionals and community health workers (CHWs), as their main sources of health information, with large diversified society of demographic, socio-economic and socio-cultural factors. The aim of this study was to determine factors influencing accessibility of maternal & child health information. Specifically to determine how health professions and community health workers influence accessibility of maternal health information, investigate association that exists between source of maternal & child health information received and health practices and establish how demographic and social cultural factors influence utilization of maternal health & Child information among rural women in Kenya, using cross sectional and descriptive design. Cluster sampling design was used to identify study participants, mothers with children aged 0-11 months. Results showed that, health professionals remain main source of health information (46.2%) followed by community health workers (32.9%), in Kenya However, since CHWs are accessible and reliable sources in rural areas, they form most efficient community health linkages with health facilities, so it’s important to empower them for sustainable healthcare at community level.

As employers shift more healthcare costs to their employees, patients are having an increasingly difficult time paying their bills. The combination of higher insurance premiums and rising out of pocket costs have greatly reduced a patient’s ability to pay their doctors. This means that once “well insured” patients are now becoming collections risks. Making the situation worse is the fact that some practices spend as much as 40% of their commercial reimbursement getting paid.

Intestinal involvement occurs in 3% to 37% of patients with pelvic endometriosis, and rectosigmoid colon is the most frequently involved site [1]. Involvement of the gastrointestinal tract may mimic primary gastrointestinal carcinoma. Bowel obstruction is rare because it usually involves the serous layer, sparing the mucosa. We report a case of a 43-year-old woman presented with gastrointestinal symptoms of bowel obstruction as the first manifestation of disease and highlight the diagnostic difficulty.

Chemerin affects adipogenesis and glucose homeostasis, have a direct or indirect impact on the inflammatory response. International scientific literature studies the relationship between chemerin and diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome markers. \u0000Methods: The study included 159 clinically asymptomatic patients (age 30-45) with an average age of 37.3 ± 4.0 years, in total 79 women. The following anthropometric measurements and biochemical parameters were measured: weight, height, BMI and fasting glucose, insulin, glycated hemoglobin, total cholesterol with its fractions, liver enzymes and immunological marker-serum chemerin. All patients underwent a CT examination of the liver with multilayer spiral computer tomograph. The density of the liver and spleen, liver index and liver/spleen index was determined. \u0000Results: Increased BMI correlates with an increased chemerin level, HOMA-IR value and TG level. A chemerin level raise also elevates the ALT and GGT blood levels, as well as the mean liver density among all three groups. The liver index and the liver/spleen index is greater in the normal weight group compared with the overweight and obese groups. HOMA-IR has a medium close-correlation with the chemerin level in the total group and overweight group. CTderived liver indicators (mean liver density, liver index, liver/ spleen index) have a statistically significant but weak correlation with chemerin level both in the total group and overweight group. \u0000Conclusion: Chemerin is adipokine, which has a significant, but not yet unambiguous role in the metabolic process. Chemerin correlation with almost all MS criteria show that even asymptomatic patients should pay attention even if only one MS criterion is increased, focusing on checking other criteria.

In all, 15(79%) patients were included in the project, which encompassed four consultations over a 12-week period. At each of the four consultations, lifestyle interventions were performed. A total of 12(63%) patients completed all four consultations. Reasons for dropout were investigated. At the first and last consultation, data were collected in order to assess the risk of developing fatal cardiovascular disease. \u0000Results: All patients attending the health clinic were screened. Among the 12 patients who completed, several known risk factors for the development of fatal cardiovascular disease were reduced, including a reduction in smoking. Other effects were increased physical activity and a healthier diet. Two patients received medical treatment for hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, respectively. \u0000Conclusions: On-site, integrated primary care in a community mental health clinic was associated with improved quality of medical care for SMI patients.
