It was established that the realization of the invasion potential of E. coli 018 depends on the cell culture used: cell cultures of epithelioid type are much more sensitive. The development of the infectious process and the changes in the number of bacteria in the viscera of the inoculated mice for both ways of introduction of the agent were of the same type. The infectious process after subcutaneous inoculation was accompanied with serious orchitis and progressive inflammatory necrotic changes in the inoculated paws leading to demarcation of the whole limb.</p>","PeriodicalId":35526,"journal":{"name":"Acta Microbiologica Bulgarica","volume":"25 ","pages":"82-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13352723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was established, that all the Yersinia enterocolitica serovars tested, cultivated at 25 degrees C, had the highest growth rate. A significant activation of growth at this temperature was observed when L-rhamnose and especially sodium succinate were used as substrates. The cultivation at 37 degrees C caused a sharp increase in the growth rate which, however, decreased at the end of the experiment (96th hour of cultivation), and certain stimulation of growth was observed on D-raffinose-containing medium. The growth of cells cultivated at 4 degrees C using L-rhamnose as substrate started after a lag-phase of 24 hours, which was better expressed for serovars 0:8 and 0:9.
